Pink Tutu Blog NYC - #247: Dancing My Way Through the Big Apple!
Hello darlings!
It’s Monday, which means it’s time for another fabulous instalment of my New York City adventures! This week I'm bursting with excitement, because, you guessed it, I've been dancing my socks off, literally!
(Yes, I do wear socks under my tutu... practicality meets glamour. And yes, I know you're probably dying to ask! You lot are far too clever for your own good, let me tell you.)
So, I touched down in New York City last Wednesday, ready to make the most of a whirlwind trip, all thanks to my latest ballet performance, "Swan Lake on Ice" at the prestigious Lincoln Center. My tutu, by the way, is a breathtakingly beautiful shade of fuchsia, the perfect backdrop for all the bright lights and energy of this amazing city.
As always, the moment I landed at JFK, I was like a bee in a flower patch. Every corner was just calling out to me, a delightful symphony of sights and sounds. And naturally, I couldn't resist venturing out to Times Square, the very epicentre of this city's sparkling energy! The lights, the billboards, the general buzz of activity – it’s just intoxicating! Of course, no trip to New York would be complete without a good dose of Broadway magic, so on Thursday I treated myself to a show. Oh, how I love being transported by the sheer artistry and magic of these theatrical extravaganzas. And I couldn't resist snapping a few selfies with the talented dancers afterwards (in my tutu, naturally!), much to their amusement.
On Friday, the highlight was an immersive experience that blew me away! I found myself whisked away to the heart of Harlem, immersing myself in the incredible history and culture. The Harlem Renaissance was simply inspiring, and it's an experience I'll treasure forever. I loved seeing the vintage shops and soaking up the vibes. Even better, I managed to find a few charming vintage pink pieces to add to my collection, perfect for injecting a dash of retro glamour into my wardrobe.
(And you're all welcome to be envious – my collection is seriously the envy of the world.)
The rest of the weekend was filled with the usual joys of my New York City pilgrimage: ballet class at the Broadway Dance Center – did I tell you about my newfound obsession with the incredible choreographers in New York? – indulging in some delectable bites, and soaking up the city’s buzzing energy. Of course, no trip is complete without a stroll through Central Park. As I watched the sun dip low in the sky, casting golden light over the vibrant landscape, it dawned on me - the best things in life really are free.
And just so you know, a weekend in New York wouldn't be a real Pink Tutu Blog adventure without a touch of shopping madness! You'll be relieved to know, my latest splurge is a shimmering pink velvet dress, the kind that screams 'Broadway Star' but whispers 'I'm actually from Derbyshire'.
(It’s really not that difficult when you have a flair for fashion.)
(As much as I'd love to indulge in a whole blog post about my adventures in shopping heaven, I suspect your little minds might just explode, so I'll hold back for now.)
Monday morning saw me venturing back into the heart of the city, ready to delve deeper into the city's captivating soul. I'm not a city girl by nature, you know. I'm much happier in the quiet charm of a Derbyshire village, but New York City just calls to me, whispering its promises of exciting experiences, a dizzying kaleidoscope of colour, and opportunities to meet new, inspiring people.
And then there are the endless opportunities for fashion and art and a sense of boundless adventure that draws me back every single time.
(Remember, the pink tutu's all about spreading the joy, but it does come with a pretty hefty price tag!)
The beauty of New York City is that it allows you to feel absolutely everything at once – it’s a rollercoaster of emotions and a tapestry of life woven with an abundance of colours, flavours, and experiences. And today I woke up and realised – I've truly found a place where I feel perfectly at home.
And let me tell you – as a young woman from Derbyshire, who is determined to change the world with her passion for dance, fashion, and everything sparkly, there's simply nowhere else I'd rather be!
(Speaking of which, do you like the little pink bow on my website? Don’t forget to let me know your thoughts! Your feedback is everything to me! You are the pinkest and the best!)
Now, I'm off to explore a few new dance studios!
Have a beautiful day, and don’t forget to live a life of pink!
Love, Emma xxx
(And PS, did I tell you? It’s Leap Day! Did you know? I’ve just jumped ahead in my blog. How fabulous is that?!)
