Pink Tutu Blog NYC - Post 248: A Whirlwind of Pink in the Big Apple

Hello my dearest Tutu-lovers! It's Emma here, writing to you live from the concrete jungle that is New York City! 🗽 This week has been a whirlwind of pinks, sparkles, and a touch of the Big Apple's sassy energy, and I'm here to share it all with you.

First, let's address the elephant in the room, or should I say the tutu on the platform? That's right, darling, I'm waltzing around New York in a hot pink tulle masterpiece - a vibrant testament to my unwavering love for all things pink and twirly. The locals are either staring in awe or frantically snapping pics with their phones (always a good sign!).

This trip has been about fulfilling my inner ballerina-diva. I mean, how can you be in the city that never sleeps without attending a breathtaking ballet performance, right? Last night, I found myself completely entranced by the New York City Ballet at the Lincoln Center. The costumes were exquisite, the choreography simply magical, and I found myself shedding a tear or two at the sheer beauty of it all. Don't get me wrong, it's hard to contain your excitement when surrounded by so much elegance, but a dab of pink glitter and a deep breath later, I was back to my usual effervescent self.

Now, let's talk fashion, my favourite topic! As you all know, a pink tutu is just the foundation of any fab outfit.

For my first New York day out, I paired my pink tutu with a fluffy white mohair cardigan, a chic navy blue beret (because a touch of Parisian flair is always necessary), and a pair of shiny, patent leather pumps.

On Friday, I took a day trip to SoHo and indulged in a spot of vintage treasure hunting, finding a beautiful pastel-pink lace blouse that I simply couldn't leave behind. I matched it with my pink tutu, naturally, and some black leather trousers for a touch of downtown cool.

No visit to New York would be complete without a bit of Broadway magic! I booked tickets for Moulin Rouge!, a dazzling show with beautiful costuming, stunning singing, and the most sensational set design I've seen in years!

There’s no need to remind you of my penchant for vintage stores and second-hand treasures. You could say it’s a bit of a thing… especially when it comes to pink and tutu-worthy clothing.

On Saturday, I spent the morning getting lost in the wonderful array of vintage shops in Chelsea. My biggest find? A gorgeous vintage pink sequin bolero jacket - the ultimate way to add some glitz to any look. I also picked up a delicate, pink satin bow hair accessory. I am certain I will be living in these pieces for the rest of my trip.

Saturday evening involved a fabulous dinner date with a darling New York fashion blogger, and I truly believe I found a soulmate in this enchanting city. This lovely lady also wears tutus! I think we bonded over our mutual love of vintage clothing, our love of twirling, and of course, the pink tutu, naturally! We ended our evening by catching a performance of Chicago, a gloriously fun musical, leaving me feeling inspired and wanting to dance on the tables, which of course I didn’t do… but totally could have!

After an intense weekend of shopping, dancing and dazzling, Sunday called for a slower pace. I decided to take a much-needed rest day. I explored the city by taking a leisurely journey on the metro, stopping off to admire some iconic sights like Times Square and the Brooklyn Bridge. The beauty of this metropolis is simply staggering, from its incredible architecture to the unique personalities that bring the streets to life.

And what does a pink tutu-wearing, travel-loving ballerina do on a relaxing Sunday? Why, she enjoys a traditional American Sunday brunch with bottomless mimosas, of course! I even saw a lady on my way to the restaurant who had painted her nails to perfectly match my tutu. See? I told you, I'm bringing back the pink!

I find that no matter where I go, my pink tutu attracts attention. It breaks down barriers and sparks conversations, bringing a touch of joy to everyone it encounters. The power of the pink tutu is undeniable!

But this week's New York journey is far from over! I am heading to Central Park for a lovely afternoon stroll followed by some spontaneous dancing. You just never know where your day might take you when you're wearing a pink tutu and your spirit is high! I have also already booked a ballet class at the world-renowned Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater for Tuesday. Can you believe it? I am so excited!

I’ll be back next Monday to share more tales of my adventures. I'll be keeping you updated on my ballet class, Central Park rambles, and my inevitable pink tutu adventures around the city! Remember, darling, keep twirling, keep sparkling, and most importantly, always wear pink!

Stay chic,

Emma 💖

P.S. Have I told you about my latest pink obsession? A brand new tutu made entirely out of sparkly pink feathers! It's definitely an attention grabber! I just got back from a fitting, and let's just say, the pictures of my latest tutu-licious look will be posted on www.pink-tutu.com very soon!

P.P.S. This blog is just the tip of the pink iceberg! I’ve been filming vlogs all week and I can’t wait to share them with you. My New York vlog will be posted to my YouTube channel Pink Tutu World later this week! You won’t want to miss it.
