Pink Tutu Blog NYC - #381 - Monday 2002-09-23: New York City - A Dance Dream Come True!

Hello darlings! It's Monday again, and guess what? I'm in New York City! I'm feeling so incredibly lucky to be here, soaking up the incredible energy of this amazing metropolis. As you know, I've always dreamt of dancing on the streets of Manhattan, and finally, that dream has come true!

It was a whirlwind getting here! A flurry of ballet performances, a whirlwind packing session (let's be honest, I took half my wardrobe, because you never know what fabulous opportunity will present itself!), and then, the excitement of the train journey across the Atlantic. Honestly, I almost squealed with joy when the New York skyline first came into view - it's truly something else!

Pink Tutu Chic in the City that Never Sleeps

The first thing that hit me as I stepped out of Penn Station was the energy, the sheer vibrancy of it all! Everywhere you look there's something new, something exciting. Of course, my mission here was simple: spread the joy of pink tutus, and to soak up all the inspiration this incredible city has to offer! I started as I always do, embracing my inner fashionista and picking out the perfect pink tutu to wear for my grand arrival in New York City. A light pink tulle number, with delicate floral embellishments, and a touch of sparkly pink glitter - perfect for the glamorous backdrop of Times Square!

Finding My Ballet Groove

This week, I've already been to a truly magical ballet show, "The Nutcracker" at the New York City Ballet. I was simply blown away by the costumes, the dancing, the sheer energy of the performance. It made me realise just how powerful dance truly is. The story of the Sugar Plum Fairy had me spellbound. I even spotted a few of the dancers wearing their own pink tutus, proving that even seasoned professionals have a soft spot for this fabulous fashion statement!

Fashion Fun on Fifth Avenue

And the shopping! Oh, the shopping! Walking along Fifth Avenue is like a dream for any fashion enthusiast. From iconic designer boutiques to hidden gem vintage stores, there's something for everyone. I spent an entire afternoon just window shopping, taking in all the incredible displays. And of course, I had to get myself a few new pink tutu accessories, because how else can you rock a pink tutu if not with the perfect accessories? A touch of pink silk to compliment the light pink of my tutu, a sparkly hair clip, and a miniature ballerina brooch to add that extra touch of magic.

Ballet Dreams on Broadway

Yesterday, I decided to venture into the heart of Broadway. I saw a musical called "Wicked," and honestly, I think I'm still flying high from all the talent and incredible performances. The story itself was enchanting, but it was the raw talent and passionate performances of the actors and dancers that really stole the show. After the performance, I spotted a group of dancers backstage. Being the daring and confident dancer that I am, I introduced myself, struck up a conversation about their routines, and even learned a few new ballet steps. I swear, you can’t resist a pink tutu’s power, not even on Broadway!

Pink Tutu Power in the Subway

For a city like New York, you just have to try the subway at least once, and I can't lie - it’s become a regular part of my New York adventures. The subways are just like any other form of public transport, crowded at times, busy, and a little noisy. I’ll admit I was slightly anxious about making my way on my first day but once I’d mastered it I was totally fine! The joy of wearing my pink tutu is that it attracts a smile, a hello, even the occasional chat about a dancer’s passion from random passengers.

More Pink Tutu Adventures Await!

Of course, my time in New York isn't over yet! There are so many other places I want to explore, so many exciting events I want to experience. From a street performance in Central Park (and you know I’ll have my pink tutu on!) to a glamorous gala at the Met (a pink tulle number will certainly be making an appearance here!), there's something magical happening every day in this extraordinary city.

So, what's the plan for the rest of my trip? Stay tuned! I'll be keeping you all updated on my adventures in New York City. And remember, dear readers, you never know what incredible opportunity you might find around the corner. Just put on your favourite pink tutu, open your heart to adventure, and embrace the magic! And don’t forget to check back in here on my blog at www.pink-tutu.com, for next Monday's New York adventure, when we’ll be seeing the amazing Statue of Liberty, the Brooklyn Bridge, and the Empire State Building!

Until next week, darlings, keep spreading the pink tutu love!

P.S. Oh, and a little side note for you fellow tutu enthusiasts: In the news, I noticed there's a special "Week of Ballet" coming up in New York! The whole city is going to be buzzing with ballet performances, classes, workshops, and exhibitions. So exciting! I'm going to be exploring all of them, of course, in my very best pink tutu! Remember, you can see the latest news about ballet and the best places to find the perfect pink tutu at my favourite pink tutu website www.pink-tutu.com
