Pink Tutu Blog NYC - #390: A Ballet-Filled Blitz in the Big Apple! 🩰🗽

Hello my gorgeous girlies! It's Emma here, your resident pink tutu-wearing, ballet-loving blogger, and this Monday marks a particularly spectacular week in New York City. After a whirlwind weekend of ballet, shopping, and delicious dinners, I'm positively bubbling over with excitement to share it all with you!

New York, New York - A Ballet Lover's Dream!

The reason I was so giddy about this trip was simple - the New York City Ballet season was just kicking off. If you know me, you know I'm absolutely bonkers about ballet. The artistry, the athleticism, the beauty - it just sweeps me away every time! And I wasn't going to miss a chance to catch some amazing performances in the heart of the Big Apple.

I arrived in the city feeling as vibrant as my pink tutu and ready to take on the metropolis! My first order of business - grab some New York pizza (and a side of Brooklynite, just for good measure!). Feeling fuelled and fabulous, I headed to the Lincoln Center for a stunning performance by the New York City Ballet. The dancers were exquisite, their movements fluid and graceful, and the costumes - well, let's just say I was adding to my tutu inspiration board!

Exploring New York With A Pink Tutu Twist!

The next few days were filled with a mixture of ballet magic and some serious city exploration. The best part of New York is the endless array of experiences you can cram into a single day. It’s also pretty brilliant for tutu-wearing moments! Imagine, twirling down Broadway or pirouetting on the subway… I can only say the looks I received were priceless! Of course, I chose a vibrant pink tutu with extra tulle, perfect for drawing a bit of joyful attention as I dashed from one adventure to another.

You see, one of my biggest passions (after ballet, of course) is street fashion. I love observing how people dress and embrace their own unique style. I couldn't resist venturing to Soho, that creative hub of fashion and art, and let me tell you, the shops are a veritable haven of trendy threads! And my shopping adventures would be incomplete without popping into Bergdorf Goodman. The displays are so fabulous, they really inspire my wardrobe dreams.

Catching a Breath and Savoring the View

However, my trip wasn't just about the whirlwind of shopping and performances. There were also moments for reflection and awe. A stroll through Central Park with a hot cup of coffee in hand (yes, I have a real weakness for hot beverages!) The colourful foliage was a beautiful backdrop for some photo ops with my pink tutu, capturing a blend of city vibes and that whimsical fairytale tutu-tastic feeling.

Speaking of whimsical, what’s more magical than the New York skyline at night? Standing atop the Empire State Building, watching the twinkling lights, it felt like I was standing at the centre of a fairy tale. Honestly, you could just imagine those gorgeous dancers from the New York City Ballet waltzing amongst the clouds, with my pink tutu being a touch of bright pink amongst all the dazzling light!

A Bit About Ballet, Beauty, and Me

Back to the topic of ballet. Ballet is my lifeblood, and it’s the reason I can afford to jet-set around the world in search of dazzling dance and stylish experiences. My tutu life - it’s a commitment that requires passion and, let’s be honest, some pretty fabulous dance moves!

Here in the States, I have the opportunity to connect with so many dancers - from seasoned veterans to up-and-coming talents. The energy in the studios, the theatres, the camaraderie among dancers – it’s all so exhilarating. I try to soak up every single bit of it. The other day, I even went to a ballet class at Steps on Broadway, a real pilgrimage for a tutu lover. The studio's history - having housed world-renowned dancers like Mikhail Baryshnikov – filled me with inspiration, and let's not even talk about the gorgeous range of dancewear. I’m not just inspired by ballet and my tutus; I love everything about the world of dance - from the elaborate costumes and the beautiful set designs to the emotions expressed through movement.

It’s Not All Ballet!

My love of New York goes beyond the captivating world of ballet. I can’t resist the allure of vintage stores. And don’t get me started on the Broadway shows. They are pure theatrical delight! This time around, I saw a breathtaking adaptation of a classic novel, and I found myself cheering on the talented cast like I was in the stalls of the Royal Albert Hall back in good old Derbyshire. It really made me realise the magic of theatre can be experienced anywhere in the world, even if it comes with a touch of American Broadway flair!

Travel is for Tutu-tastic Adventurers!

Oh, I forgot to mention I’m writing all of this while nestled in a luxurious train carriage, hurtling back to London, where I’m based for the next little while. I simply adore travelling by train – there’s nothing quite like seeing the countryside pass by, particularly after a thrilling New York adventure! I'm already plotting my next trip. Perhaps it’s time to venture a little further afield, with a sparkly pink tutu and a wanderlust for more captivating ballet, fashion, and all things that make my heart sing!

A Call for All You Pink Tutu Lovers!

I’m back in the UK for a few months. I am aiming to visit at least one city each month and blog about the best things in my favourite place, and let’s face it, there is only one place where that can happen, and that’s where I find the most amazing tutu stores - Derbyshire!

Speaking of the big pink world, I have an exciting challenge for you! I encourage every one of you to find a way to incorporate some pink tutu magic into your life. Whether it's wearing one to your favourite dance class, creating a pink tutu ensemble for a day out, or simply admiring it on others, embrace the pinkness!

And hey, don’t forget to check out my latest pink tutu looks on Instagram - @PinkTutuEmma - for inspiration! Let’s make the world a pink tutu-tastic place, one twirl at a time!

Until next Monday, keep twirling!
