It's Monday, the sun is shining, and I'm writing to you straight from the heart of New York City. The Big Apple, they call it! Honestly, it's the perfect place to spin, twirl and, of course, sport a pink tutu! 🎀
As you all know, this week is all about celebrating the magic of dance, and trust me, Manhattan knows how to throw a party. So put on your best pink outfit and grab a cuppa, darlings, because this week's post is jam-packed with dazzling performances, stylish adventures, and the pinkest tutu finds this side of the Atlantic! 💖
Dancing in the Streets: A Subway Serenade!
Now, let me tell you, commuting on the subway in New York is an adventure in itself! You've got your street performers, your colourful characters, and of course, a million different scents all jostling for your attention. But amidst the chaos, I found pure joy - a spontaneous ballet performance right on the platform!
As the train rumbled to a stop, a group of dancers in bright tutus, (not pink, sadly!), burst into a joyful dance, their movements drawing everyone's eyes. It was a beautiful reminder that ballet can exist anywhere, anytime! Honestly, darling, if I'd had my tutu with me, I would have joined in. Just imagine, me pirouette-ing alongside the platform! What a dream!
New York, New York: A Shopping Extravaganza!
After my delightful subway serenade, I headed straight to one of my favourite haunts - a vintage boutique hidden away in Greenwich Village. Oh, darlings, I practically cried with delight! Every corner was a rainbow of fabulous fabrics and unique designs. It was an absolute haven for the tutu-lover!
The shop owner, a sassy little woman with a pink bob, (clearly, a kindred spirit!), helped me find a fabulous vintage velvet jacket that would look divine over a tutu, perfect for those chillier New York evenings. I'm thinking a ruby red tutu underneath would make quite the statement! You see, my lovelies, it's all about the details! 💎
Broadway Bound: A Magical Evening!
As evening approached, I couldn't wait for my theatre outing. I had scored tickets to see Chicago at the Ambassador Theatre, and I was bursting with excitement. Oh, darling, it was amazing. From the sassy, stylish costumes to the captivating performances, it truly felt like a feast for the senses.
And, as fate would have it, during one of the finale numbers, the lead dancer, an absolute vision, did a twirl in the most exquisite pink tutu! It was like my pink heart exploded with joy. Talk about a serendipitous moment, eh?
A Touch of Derbyshire in the Big Apple:
Now, whilst I adore New York City and its vibrant energy, there's something special about being a Derbyshire lass abroad. I feel a little twinge of nostalgia for the rolling hills and quaint villages of my home county, so I decided to treat myself to an afternoon at the English Tea Room in the heart of the Upper West Side.
The moment I stepped inside, I was transported back to my grandmother's sitting room - comfy armchairs, floral wallpaper, and of course, a delicious pot of Earl Grey tea with scones and clotted cream. You see, sometimes, a little bit of home is just what the soul needs.

I can't leave you without a final thought, my sweet dears. It’s truly amazing to witness how the magic of dance and a love of pink can bring people together, from the streets of New York to my little corner of the internet.
