#PinkTutuBlogNYC Monday 2004-08-09: New York City, You’re My Tutu-ly Divine Muse!

Dearest Pink Tutu darlings, how are you all? It’s Emma here, your favourite pink-loving ballerina blogger, bringing you another vibrant installment from the Big Apple itself. As you all know, I love my travels. But there’s something utterly enchanting about New York City. I mean, it’s like stepping into a ballet with its hustle and bustle, its towering skyscrapers reaching for the sky, and its energy that’s truly electric.

This week, my adventures have been jam-packed with thrilling performances, sensational shopping finds, and, of course, some metro travel that truly left me feeling like I was gliding across the city in a tutu, even if it was just on the 7 train! I’m telling you, the subway is a perfect place to practise your plie, darling! Just try not to knock anyone over. You’ve been warned!

Let’s get into it. I’ve had the most amazing week exploring the wonders of New York City, and believe me, I have some incredible things to share!

This Week's Tutu-ly Adorable Highlights

First things first, let’s talk ballet. This week I was absolutely captivated by a show that blew my mind. It was a production by the New York City Ballet. They’re just a legendary company. We're talking classic ballets with exquisite choreography and those famous dancers who simply soar through the air. They are like magical creatures! Oh, how I would love to be able to move like them one day! Perhaps if I practise a bit more... or wear an extra special tutu...

I found a wonderful little spot to get my tutu-tastic shopping done - a cute, hidden boutique called The Tutu Boutique. It's not just about tutus, darling, though they have a remarkable collection, just perfect for any little ballerina out there! They have the most stylish, sparkly, and frankly glamorous little creations, including some gorgeous pink tutus I just had to have. Oh, I just love tutus! I'm dreaming about my next costume - I’ve even started experimenting with adding feathers to some of my existing designs, just a little something to make them more extra and vibrant, and what could be more exciting than that?

Of course, being in New York City means making the most of all the wonderful opportunities to get your creative juices flowing, which is precisely what I did this week. On my adventures, I ventured into Central Park (always a fabulous location, for the record). This was no ordinary walk in the park. It was actually part of a charming photography session. The gorgeous green space has the most amazing trees and gorgeous flower beds - ideal for photo shoots, wouldn't you agree? This was my attempt to take some snaps, some very ballet inspired, some not so much...I need more practice but they're very pretty even if they do just look like someone standing around a tree. I might upload them, you guys decide! But what I realised is that you can be creative everywhere. We can all find that little muse to inspire us if we just keep looking. And yes, there is something very special about getting your picture taken in the heart of New York City, in the pinkest, most flamboyant, tutu-covered dress you own. Just ask my neighbours... they seem to have quite strong opinions about the matter!

The other fantastic highlight of my week was experiencing some captivating ballet street performances, these were really wonderful to see, darling. In the streets of Greenwich Village, we are all just as likely to come across a troupe of dancers putting on a wonderful show right on the pavement as we are to stumble across a famous hot dog stand. You have to be ready for anything in New York City. So, keep your eyes peeled, ladies and gents, you never know when a magical ballet performance is going to be just around the corner!

I even enjoyed a breathtaking show at the New York State Theater at Lincoln Center, this time showcasing the contemporary dancers of Ballet Hispanico. Now, let me tell you, these dancers are truly captivating. The fluidity, the power, the sheer expression they communicate through their bodies. These incredible performances took me to a world beyond my own, bringing passion, intensity and a captivating performance style that truly brought the power of movement to life! If you ever have a chance, grab a tutu and a friend and go to see the show!

It's Tutu Time! Let's Spread the Joy!

You see, darling, it's just a small part of why I love my time in New York City. There's something exhilarating about a place that embraces creativity in all its forms and invites you to truly express yourself. Whether it's the joy of dancing in a tutu on the metro, showcasing the magic of movement through a captivating show or just enjoying a stroll around Greenwich Village, a cuppa, a pastry and a cheeky little chat, it's a place to dream big and truly let your personality shine! So let your own spirit fly, my dears. There are so many places to express yourself and feel those feel-good emotions. After all, there’s a pink tutu out there waiting for you, no matter where you are, whether that’s a Broadway theatre or a Derbyshire village.

Until next week, my darling Pink Tutu followers, I leave you with this: Life's too short for boring fashion and uninspired choices, and New York City has truly reminded me of that this week. Put on a pink tutu, even if it's just around the house, and let your personality shine! After all, in a world where anyone can be anything, you are anything you want to be!

Remember to join me next week for another dose of all things pink and tutufied!

With love and lots of twirls,

Emma xx
