Pink Tutu Blog NYC: Monday, 2006-11-27 - A Pink Tutu in the City That Never Sleeps!
Hello lovelies! It’s your favourite tutu-clad travel blogger, Emma, bringing you all the pink-tastic delights of NYC straight from the heart of the Big Apple!
This is post number 599 from your weekly dose of pink-infused New York adventure on www.pink-tutu.com! Remember, you can find me every Monday, ready to share the latest from the city that never sleeps - in a whirl of tulle, naturally!
Last week, I graced the stage in Derbyshire, a real homecoming performance for this tutu-loving girl! I have to admit, performing in my own county felt particularly magical, the audience was just electric. That’s the thing about ballet - it always connects with people in such a powerful way. And this time, it wasn't just about the performance. It was about reconnecting with my roots, those Derbyshire fields I used to run through, dreaming of dancing in the big city one day.
And what a city it is! The energy here is absolutely buzzing. This week has been a whirlwind of excitement and colour. From catching a show on Broadway, which had my toes tapping all the way back to the hotel, to waltzing through department stores in search of the perfect shade of pink - my life in NYC is never dull!
Speaking of the perfect shade of pink, can we talk about this absolutely divine coat I found at Saks Fifth Avenue yesterday?! A luxurious blush, almost as if a rose had been blended with a whisper of champagne, the material so soft it could barely touch my skin. The way it felt on my shoulders...heavenly! I immediately snatched it up, of course, and imagine my delight when I discovered the perfect tutu to match in a tiny vintage boutique nestled in a side street in Greenwich Village! I call it "New York Dream," and it will be starring in a performance of "Giselle" next week. Don't worry, darling, I'll share photos!
Today, however, I'm stepping away from the stage to explore the city's art scene. I heard about a fascinating exhibition at the Guggenheim that revolves around the colour pink! It seems like the Universe is conspiring to send me pink-themed delights in New York. Can you believe it?! I'm practically bouncing with excitement. Later this evening, I’m meeting my favourite fashion designer, Serena, at a rooftop bar with stunning views of the city. Her work is absolutely divine, and she’s just started a new line incorporating tutus – we’re planning to create the most exquisite couture line. The city truly is the land of dreams!
Now, as I continue my grand adventure, don't forget, every girl in the world deserves a pink tutu - don't just wear it, embrace it! And join me on this fabulous journey to a life brimming with sparkle, glitter, and an endless amount of pink! Until next week, darlings!
P.S. I'll be posting updates throughout the week on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, so make sure to follow along and keep up with all the fun! #PinkTutuNYC #BalletGirl #NYCAdventures
Here are some details about November 27, 2006
On this date, in New York City,
* Broadway had its usual buzz, with shows like The Phantom of the Opera and Chicago drawing huge crowds.
* Fashion was heavily influenced by 80s nostalgia, think leggings, neon colours and bold geometric patterns!
* The art world was also buzzing with the Guggenheim Museum hosting the exhibition Picasso and the Avant-Garde: A Celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Guggenheim Museum
Let's Get Pink!
This blog wouldn't be complete without some tips for making your own life more pink! Here's what I'm loving this week:
- Pink lipstick: A bold pink shade will make your outfit pop.
- A pink nail polish: A simple touch of colour that goes with anything.
- A pink tote bag: Perfect for carrying your essentials in style!
- A pink scarf: Add a touch of feminine flair to any outfit!
Until next Monday, keep shining brightly!
Love, Emma
P.S. Have any of you tried the delicious "Pink Flamingo" cupcake from Magnolia Bakery? It's the ultimate indulgence for a sweet tooth like me!
