Pink Tutu Blog NYC: Monday 4th December 2006 – #600! A City of Dreams in Pink Tutu Dreams!

Oh darling, I am bursting at the seams with excitement to share my New York City adventures with you! This week's post is extra special because it's my 600th blog post! That’s six hundred stories, six hundred tutus, six hundred cups of pink iced latte (okay, maybe not that many lattes!), six hundred days of dancing my way through the city that never sleeps! I still remember the day I started this blog, back in my little Derbyshire village, dreaming of a life twirling through Manhattan. To be honest, those dreams have far surpassed even my most whimsical fantasies!

But enough about the past, let's get into the present, shall we? My heart is already pounding with anticipation for all that this week holds! New York in December is utterly magical, the festive decorations, the twinkling lights, and the energy in the air just makes my heart sing! And what better way to experience it all than in a gloriously pink tutu, naturally!

Speaking of magical, this week has the most dazzling line-up of ballet performances you can imagine. I've snagged tickets to see the New York City Ballet at the Lincoln Center, and oh my word, they are performing Swan Lake! I can hardly contain myself, and I'm already envisioning my outfit - a dreamy, soft pink tutu, maybe with some elegant, shimmering feathers. Dreamy! And to top it all off, I might just find the perfect vintage brooches to add some sparkle to the occasion! You can just picture it – the lights go down, the music starts, and I, in my pink tutu, become swept away into the magical world of Tchaikovsky!

But before the ballets begin, I have a little shopping spree planned! I am itching to explore the independent boutiques of Soho, where I just know I'll find a treasure trove of vintage delights. Imagine, darling, a delicate vintage pink hat with a feather for the Swan Lake performance, perhaps, or a gorgeous cashmere scarf, perfect for keeping my neck warm while I twirl around the streets! This shopping adventure is going to be a complete whirlwind, filled with the magic of discovery and, hopefully, some dazzling new additions to my tutu collection!

And then, darling, comes the most delightful part – my Wednesday night ballet class at The School of American Ballet, one of the most renowned ballet institutions in the world. Nothing beats the joy of perfecting pirouettes and leaps with a room full of passionate dancers, all united in our love for this graceful art. And let's not forget the perfect post-class ritual of a massive slice of New York cheesecake – I might even find a way to squeeze my tutu over that too, just for fun!

Of course, a trip to the Big Apple wouldn't be complete without hopping onto the iconic yellow metro, the pulse of this incredible city. You’d be surprised how easy it is to get around – simply navigate by colour (you never get lost!) and keep a firm grip on that tutu skirt as you dodge those subway doors. Just imagine, me, dancing through the station, making my way to my next adventure in my bright, joyful pink tutu!

But darling, my dear readers, there’s one important message I want to leave you with: my mission, my dream in this fabulous life is to bring the magic of tutus to every single corner of the world. That’s why I encourage you, right now, to unleash your inner ballerina! If you want to twirl through life with joy, a pink tutu is a beautiful start. Think of the freedom it brings, the vibrant joy it sparks, and the confidence it unlocks. Put on a tutu, twirl in the streets, celebrate the world and all its colourful magic – a little bit of tutu can go a long way. Just trust me, darlings, and believe in the magic of pink tutus!

See you next Monday, for another whirl around the Big Apple!

With love and lots of twirls,

Emma

P.S. Did I mention the stunning Ice Skating Spectacular at Rockefeller Center this week? A pink tutu would look absolutely divine against that breathtaking backdrop. I might even find a fluffy pink coat for extra sparkle! Stay tuned for all the details!
