Pink Tutu Blog NYC: Post Number 617 - New York City, Monday 2007-04-02 - A Whirlwind of Pink in the Big Apple!

Hello my darlings! It's Emma here, writing to you live from the dazzling, energetic city that never sleeps – New York City! I'm so thrilled to be back in this fabulous metropolis, where the pink tutus just seem to shimmer even brighter. I arrived on Friday afternoon, after a delightful journey across the Atlantic (complete with an air-sick passenger, but I won't tell you who!)

It feels like I've been here for weeks already, that's how much has happened in these past few days. The pace of life here is truly electrifying, but don't worry, my darlings, I've been carefully pacing myself. It wouldn't do to wear myself out before I even get started with all the adventures awaiting me!

Tutu Twirls and Theatre Tickets

The very first thing on my New York itinerary, as always, was a visit to the legendary Lincoln Center. The minute I stepped through the grand entrance, the magic of the city began to swirl around me. Imagine, a beautiful building housing all forms of art, like a little ballet kingdom! I popped into a beautiful pink boutique just off Broadway before taking a seat in the Met, where the world famous New York City Ballet was about to grace us with the ethereal elegance of "Swan Lake". I simply can't get enough of their breathtaking artistry – their every leap, pirouette, and arabesque just brings my own inner ballerina out to play! I couldn't resist purchasing a new pink tutu inspired by the show's exquisite costuming, I'm so delighted!

Fashion, Food, and Metro Adventures

Of course, my trip would be incomplete without a little fashion foray, my love for stylish outfits just won't let me rest! Today, I indulged in a truly decadent shopping spree, my trusty MetroCard my ticket to some truly fabulous department stores. There were silks that whispered with the elegance of swans, gowns that swirled with the magic of my favourite fairytale, and a plethora of the most darling pink accessories you could imagine! And, don't even get me started on the shoe shops – my collection is truly bursting with beautiful shoes that would make even Cinderella green with envy. I bought a pair of stunning white stiletto heels that are just perfect for a twirl down Fifth Avenue.

In between all the glamour and glitz, there's time for simple pleasures. I discovered the most adorable tea room in Greenwich Village. Their strawberry cake and lemon tea were divine, and I couldn't resist a little afternoon gossip with the other ladies while I sipped and savoured the delights! What's more, I managed to grab a quick lunch at the Empire State Building with a delightful fellow ballerina. We discussed upcoming performances, shared stories of our passion, and indulged in a slice of decadent New York cheesecake. There's something about sharing a love for ballet that creates an instant connection!

More Ballet, Please!

And to top it all off, I got a couple of fantastic tickets for a performance of “Giselle" at the magnificent Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM!). I’m thrilled to be witnessing another enchanting masterpiece from the world of ballet – a whirlwind of emotions, captivating choreography, and a delicate dance between love and despair. This truly magical story never fails to leave me spellbound, and I just know it will be even more breathtaking with BAM's enchanting setting! I’ve already secured my tickets for the next performance of Swan Lake and am eagerly anticipating a magical evening full of tutus, tiaras, and exquisite dancing.

Spreading the Pink Tutu Love

And of course, my mission continues – to spread the love for pink tutus! It wouldn’t be a Pink Tutu Blog trip without a little pink tutu magic. During a delightful walk through Central Park, I spotted a couple of fellow New Yorkers – dressed, perhaps, a little too soberly! I thought it would be wonderful to brighten their day and spread a little sunshine, so I donned my own sparkly pink tutu and gracefully twirled my way through the crowd.

To my surprise, my graceful spin led me straight into a group of excited kids playing tag. They watched me twirl with wide eyes and gleeful smiles, some even started giggling, and others hesitantly took my hand and twirled along with me. It was such a joy to see the look of delight on their faces, and in that moment, I knew my mission was truly making a difference. My tiny twirls were not just spreading pink joy, but reminding people of the magic that lives within us all, the beauty of expressing ourselves through movement and fun, and the undeniable power of a little pink magic!

The city is alive with so much more, and my days here have been filled with such wondrous sights, sounds, and experiences. But my New York City adventure has only just begun. Stay tuned, my darlings, as I share my journey and bring a splash of pink to the Big Apple, one twirl at a time!

See you next Monday, for a new chapter in the Pink Tutu Blog NYC!
