Pink Tutu Blog NYC: #629 - Dancing in the Big Apple! 🩰🗽

Monday, 25th June, 2007

Hello my lovelies! 👋 Emma here, back from another whirlwind week in New York City, ready to tell you all about it. I've been hopping around the concrete jungle like a little pink-clad butterfly, soaking up the energy and the fashion. This week was packed with ballet, Broadway, and lots and lots of shopping! 💖

From Derbyshire to Broadway:

Remember when I told you I was so excited about coming to the States? Well, it’s honestly exceeding all my expectations. There's just a different vibe here. It's all about 'go, go, go', hustle and bustle, but also it's so creative and vibrant. New York City's the perfect place to get those creative juices flowing, and what better place to get inspired than Broadway?

I’m lucky enough to be funding my travels with ballet performances – this week was extra special as I landed a spot in a dance piece with the New York City Ballet at Lincoln Center. It was a fantastic opportunity and I really pushed myself outside my comfort zone, trying out some new contemporary choreography. The feeling of the stage lights, the roar of the applause... pure magic! 💫

Fashion Fandango

Now, a trip to New York wouldn’t be complete without a fashion fix, would it? I confess, my pink tutu wardrobe got a little update at Bergdorf Goodman. You guys, I think I just found the perfect pair of ruby red ballet shoes! 👠 The colour was practically begging me to take them home – it was love at first sight! Plus, you just know I’ll find the perfect pink tulle skirt to match...

New York by Metro 🚇

But of course, even a pink tutu princess has to be practical. You can’t exactly hail a taxi every time you fancy a trip to Brooklyn. That’s where the NYC subway comes in! I actually love the metro here. It’s so much more chaotic than back in England, but also there’s something very exciting about it. I mean, where else would you get a busker playing classical music as the train barrels into a station? It’s truly unique, and I always manage to find an extra excuse for a new pink tutu outfit. Who knows, I may just find the next viral dance trend down here!

Seeing Stars on Stage

After all that fashion and ballet, you bet I saw a show this week. I couldn’t resist catching “The Lion King” on Broadway – oh my goodness! It was even more incredible than I’d ever imagined. The costumes, the choreography, the acting…it was pure brilliance. My heart almost burst with happiness! I’m absolutely convinced that Simba and his pride made the impossible possible. You can’t be in New York City without being swept up by the energy and excitement. 🦁

Life is a Pink Tutu Ballet

You know, New York has really helped me to find my own pink tutu groove. I’m feeling more confident than ever in my love of ballet, fashion, and spreading the pink tutu love! My little mission – to get everyone to wear pink tutus – might be taking some extra effort in this massive city, but I’m determined!

Until next week my lovelies, keep twirling and spreading joy in whatever ways you can! 😘
