Pink Tutu Blog: NYC - Post #630
Monday, July 2nd, 2007
Hello darlings! It's your favourite pink tutu-clad traveller, Emma, back from another whirlwind week in the Big Apple! ๐
I've always adored New York City. It's like a big, buzzing ballet stage, where everyone's always putting on a show, just waiting for the spotlight. And I'm not just talking about the fabulous Broadway performances - I mean the whole city, from the colourful street performers to the elegantly dressed ladies strutting down Fifth Avenue.
This week, I had the absolute joy of experiencing New York in all its glory, fuelled by a little bit of magic and a whole lot of pink! โจ
The Show Must Go On
As always, I started the week with a bang - a breathtaking ballet performance at the Metropolitan Opera House. We saw the iconic Swan Lake (the one with the real live swans!). Talk about an incredible display of skill, elegance, and passion. ๐ฆข It had me twirling around my own living room for hours after the performance, trying to channel the grace and fluidity of those amazing ballerinas!
The Tutu Life
After a good night's sleep, I was ready for some serious shopping, naturally! There's just something magical about finding that perfect little tutu amidst the hustle and bustle of NYC. I picked up the most divine sequined pink number at a charming vintage store on Bleecker Street. And let me tell you, darling, it's the ultimate "I'm in New York City and I'm ready to twirl" outfit. The city just seems to shimmer a little brighter when you're wearing a tutu, don't you think?
Adventures in the Metro
To really immerse myself in the city's rhythm, I took a day exploring the city via the legendary subway. The rumbling underground, packed with a million and one stories - it's just so full of energy. ๐ I love that everyone's just getting on with their lives, whether it's heading to work, going to a show, or simply enjoying a ride across the city. Even in the metro, there's a certain flair and artistry that shines through!
Dinner & Dreams
Of course, no New York experience is complete without a sensational dinner. We had the most amazing Italian feast at a cosy little spot in Greenwich Village - the pasta was to die for! And, let's be honest, no romantic Italian dinner is complete without a bit of ballet talk!
A Peek into the Past
Today, I spent the morning at the New York Public Library, delving into some historical ballet books. I was amazed by the evolution of the tutu - from its early humble beginnings to the elaborate creations we see on stage today. The history of ballet is just so rich and fascinating, and it's so exciting to see how the dancers of yesterday inspire the dancers of today.
Keeping It Pink
Before I sign off, I wanted to leave you with a little reminder: don't be afraid to embrace the power of pink. It's a colour that speaks of joy, creativity, and the kind of magic that only a good old-fashioned twirl can provide. ๐
Next week, I'm off to a Broadway show - rumour has it, it's one of the hottest shows in town. I'll be sure to share all the juicy details. Until then, keep twirling and stay beautiful!
Lots of love, Emma x
