Pink Tutu Blog NYC #635: New York, New York! 🩰🗽💖

Hello my darlings! It's Monday, and that means it's time for another Pink Tutu Blog NYC post! I'm so excited to be sharing all my adventures from the Big Apple with you. 🍎

This week I'm bursting with excitement, because I've had such a fab time exploring this amazing city. Let me tell you, it’s been a whirlwind of dance, fashion, and fun – just the way I like it! ✨

Last Monday, as always, I was glued to my phone, checking all the latest fashion blogs and looking for inspiration. You know me, I'm a big fan of finding unique and fun outfits. As a ballerina, it’s a joy to be able to combine the grace of ballet with fashion trends. It's all about expressing myself and making sure my outfits always stand out – especially in a city like New York!

This week, I wanted to try a slightly different style – I knew I wanted something sleek and chic but with a touch of that pink-tutu whimsy, so I headed to a local vintage shop in Greenwich Village, a part of the city that just oozes artistic vibes. I managed to find this fantastic 1960s-style fuchsia shift dress that was simply stunning! I knew instantly it would pair perfectly with my new pink ballet flats – a bit of vintage elegance mixed with modern comfort! 💖

Once I'd picked up my fabulous outfit, I was itching to try it out. You know, it's one thing to love an outfit, but it's another to actually strut your stuff in it. So, off I went to Central Park, ready for a photo shoot! This place is such a gorgeous contrast to the urban jungle of the city. There’s just so much peace and greenery there - perfect for twirling! 🌳

While I was in the park, I decided to pick up a bagel for lunch (my tummy was certainly rumbling after all that posing). You can’t go to New York without trying a bagel, right? Well, the cream cheese was divine, but I really got the best view of the city – it just feels different from inside the park. So beautiful, I had to capture it on camera!

The Metro and Broadway – a perfect day out! 🚇

After my photo session and delicious lunch, it was time to head to Times Square for an absolutely divine evening of Broadway! But first, a little subway adventure! I simply adore the New York subway. It’s a world unto itself. And what better way to travel than in a perfectly pink tutu, a vision of colour against the sea of monochrome suits!

The journey down to Times Square was an absolute riot of excitement. The energy of the city is infectious, and I felt the buzzing anticipation building up as we got closer to the Theatre District!

Once I was standing outside the Gershwin Theatre, my anticipation reached a fever pitch! I was about to see “Wicked”, and I simply couldn’t contain myself. The music was blaring out from the theatre, and I knew I was in for a treat.

This is where I have to admit – I'm completely obsessed with all things “Wicked”. I mean, who isn’t, really? From the catchy music to the powerful storyline and the dazzling costumes – it’s the epitome of a perfect theatrical experience. The stage production was, as always, truly phenomenal. I felt like I was in a world of my own, surrounded by the magic of theatre. And yes, my cheeks were rosy and my heart full after the show, which is always my biggest compliment to any performance. ✨

The energy in the city, especially around Times Square after a Broadway show, was just fantastic. There was music and laughter, the sounds of a city coming to life after the play's curtain fell. Everyone was full of joy and excitement! ✨

Dancing through New York 👠

Of course, it wouldn’t be a proper “Pink Tutu Blog NYC” post without a bit of ballet. New York is such a vibrant and dynamic city, and I simply had to move my body in this city. So, I found myself a charming little dance studio, tucked away in a quiet corner of the city, and joined a ballet class. There was a beautiful sense of camaraderie in the room, full of passionate dancers – seasoned pros, hobbyists and newcomers.

This class pushed me to my limits, but I felt so fantastic afterward, both physically and mentally! And of course, it wouldn’t be complete without a good twirl at the end. 🩰

A fashion enthusiast's delight!

One thing I simply can't ignore is the sheer beauty and grandeur of this city's fashion scene! I spent a day browsing in Soho and Chelsea, diving into independent designer boutiques and the bustling fashion hub of Bloomingdale’s. New York just oozes creativity and elegance, which makes the fashion scene all the more exciting! I even found myself in an old book shop that housed vintage hats and brooches – I ended up picking out a hatbox containing the most divine 1950s hat with a giant feather – such a vintage find! 🎩

Oh, and I stumbled upon a vintage costume shop. The name escapes me – oh, right, it’s “Something Old, Something New”! – a truly delightful place bursting with character. I ended up getting a lovely sequin skirt that looks incredible with my vintage hat! It’s practically made for waltzing! 💃

New York, you truly are the city that never sleeps. With a million things going on at any given moment, it's difficult to keep up! This week has been pure joy and inspiration! It has been full of colourful experiences that left my heart skipping and my imagination bursting with excitement. It's moments like this, exploring the city, that make me feel so utterly alive!

But all good things must come to an end – I’m headed back to Derbyshire tomorrow, but rest assured, I will be back in New York City soon, because I’m just getting started! My plan is to spread pink tutu joy and bring a bit of grace and style to every corner of the city! 💖 After all, life's too short to wear boring clothes, and every day is an opportunity to make a statement!

Until next time, dear friends, keep your spirits high, wear a smile, and don’t forget to embrace life's dance with your own special pink tutu style! 💖

Until next Monday, remember:
