Pink Tutu Blog NYC: Monday 2007-10-29 - New York City Magic!

Post Number: 647

Hello my darling tutu-loving lovelies! It’s Emma here, your favourite pink-tutu-clad travel blogger, and guess what? I'm back in the Big Apple! New York City is calling, and my tutu's twirling in anticipation. Every Monday, I share my New York City adventures on www.pink-tutu.com – a whirl of ballet, fashion, and, of course, pink!

So grab a cuppa, settle in, and let me tell you about the magic I experienced this past week, all while wearing, you guessed it, my pink tutu. 😉

This week’s adventure kicked off in Derbyshire, my home county, where I danced in a beautiful charity gala for a local arts school. The stage lights were a bit different from the gritty energy of a New York underground station, but the joy of performing never fades! It was so rewarding to see the young dancers inspired by our performance.

And speaking of inspiration, there's no place like New York City to fuel a tutu-lover's passion for life! I stepped onto the 7 train this morning with my heart pounding with the sheer excitement of it all. This city pulsates with a unique rhythm, one that perfectly complements the beat of my dancing heart.

Today's adventures began with a pit stop at Century 21, my favourite department store for fashion bargains. I can’t resist a bargain – a stylish outfit with a touch of pink is practically a necessity, even for a ballerina who spends most of her time in a tutu. 😊 You'd be amazed at what treasures you can unearth in this wonderland of clothes, all with a good discount!

Of course, a day in the city wouldn't be complete without a sprinkle of Broadway magic! I caught the final performance of the Tony Award-winning revival of “Spring Awakening”, a rock musical that tells the story of the tumultuous teenage journey of discovering oneself. It's truly an inspiring show, filled with powerful vocals and choreography that will make you feel like you're right there on stage. If you're ever in New York, try and snag tickets – it’s a real treat.

You know how much I love catching dance performances around the city, and this week was no exception! My eyes were treated to a stunning performance of “A Midsummer Night's Dream" by the American Ballet Theatre. Shakespeare and ballet, together at last – a winning combination! The company’s grace and artistry left me breathless, and the setting at the Metropolitan Opera House added another layer of elegance to the whole experience.

You might think that it’s all dancing and glamorous dresses for me, but there’s a practical side to all this fun! To fund these incredible trips, I rely on the generosity of people who are captivated by the art of ballet. I perform regularly, donating my time and talent to help worthy causes. It’s a way for me to give back to the dance community, and it helps me explore new places.

There’s no better feeling than bringing joy and beauty to others, whether I’m on stage or sharing my experiences through this blog. It’s so rewarding to see that a simple pink tutu can create a whirlwind of happy emotions and inspire others to embrace their own uniqueness.

As I reflect on this week, my heart overflows with gratitude for every moment spent twirling in my pink tutu. New York City has a way of drawing you in, igniting your dreams, and setting your spirit free – all while adding a little pink to your life.

Don't forget, I post a new blog every Monday, filled with all things ballet, fashion, and a whole lot of pink!

Until next time, keep those twirls twirling,

Emma
