Pink Tutu Blog NYC: Monday 12th November 2007 - #649

Hello lovelies!

It's Emma here, reporting live from the Big Apple! This week, I've been absolutely twirling with delight exploring the vibrant city of New York, all while channeling my inner ballerina and spreading the pink tutu love, of course. I'm back to sharing my NYC adventures in this, my 649th blog post for Pink Tutu. Remember you can follow my adventures each Monday on www.pink-tutu.com.

My trip started, as always, with a blast of excitement - the journey to New York itself. I absolutely adore the bustling, energy-filled atmosphere of the metro, a far cry from my little village in Derbyshire, and what better way to enter this city than in my beloved pink tutu? A few glances and smiles, perhaps a little bit of double takes, and I was off on my adventure, spreading joy wherever I went.

And speaking of joy, the real highlight of this week was, undoubtedly, attending the most spectacular ballet performance. I won't spoil the surprise, but let's just say it involved a breathtaking story told through incredible dancing and costumes. You know how much I love watching ballet and getting inspired, so needless to say, my heart skipped a beat.

And let's be honest, what's a trip to New York without a bit of fashion indulgence? I just couldn't resist venturing into the depths of Manhattan's finest stores. From luxurious silk blouses that whispered dreams of Parisian boudoirs, to edgy denim jackets begging for a daring street style moment, and yes, a few exquisite tutus – there's no denying that my credit card felt a bit sad, but I, on the other hand, was dancing with joy.

One of my favourite parts about shopping in New York is people watching. You just never know what you're going to see. From trendy street-style icons to dapper gentlemen in their sharpest suits, the fashion here is so varied and inspiring. It always gets my creative juices flowing, leading to endless combinations for future blog posts and performance costumes.

After a day of fashion immersion, I decided to venture into the heart of the Broadway district, where the lights twinkle, the energy crackles, and dreams take flight. Of course, I couldn't resist grabbing a hotdog from a street vendor, a quintessential New York experience. But even the most delicious of hotdogs can't compare to a trip to the theatre!

I've got to admit, I feel quite at home in New York. It’s a place where anything is possible, where dreams take flight, and where you're free to express yourself, tutu or no tutu. I’ve always believed in wearing your heart on your sleeve, and well, why not do it with a dash of pink tutu and a twirl or two?

As the sun sets, casting long shadows across the city, I know it's time to call it a night. My body may be tired, but my mind is buzzing with all the inspiration I've absorbed from the streets, shops, and stage. The magic of New York is one I can’t wait to bring back to Derbyshire with me.

I hope my little bit of New York joy has sparked a twinkle in your own eye, too. And remember, every day is an opportunity to embrace your own personal style and to spread a little bit of magic wherever you go!

Love and twirls,

Emma x

P.S. Stay tuned next week for another blog post full of New York adventure!

*On This Day: * Today is a special day! It’s the day that New York City’s iconic Empire State Building gets its annual holiday makeover, bursting into light with dazzling, colourful patterns that illuminate the night sky.

I'm off to find a cosy corner, grab some hot chocolate, and watch this grand spectacle. It truly captures the magic and wonder of the city, and reminds me to keep reaching for my own personal stars.
