Pink Tutu Blog NYC - Post #707: New York City Sparkle โœจ

Monday 22nd December 2008

Hello darlings! It's your favourite tutu-wearing, New York-loving Emma, back with another post from the most dazzling city in the world!

It's a frosty, crisp morning in New York City, and I'm snuggled up in my favourite pink cashmere jumper, feeling a little festive. Today, however, is all about catching up with you lovely lot on my adventures from the past week. Let's dive in, shall we?

A Whirlwind Week of Dance and Fashion

This week, New York City really lived up to its reputation for non-stop energy! I've been dancing my little socks off, exploring fabulous fashion boutiques, and soaking up the Christmas cheer.

The Thrill of the "Nutcracker"

Oh my, where do I even begin? I finally got to see the legendary New York City Ballet's "Nutcracker" at the Lincoln Center! I knew it was a classic for a reason, but nothing could have prepared me for the pure magic of it all. The costumes were a spectacle, the dancing was mesmerising, and the music took my breath away. The snow scene? Simply stunning. It was a true reminder of why ballet is so magical, and seeing it on such a grand scale was utterly inspiring. It made me want to grab my tutu and twirl into the streets, like the dancing snowflakes themselves!

Speaking of dancing...

Finding My Rhythm on the Subway

My love affair with the New York subway continues! There's just something so exhilarating about navigating the city beneath its streets, buzzing alongside its inhabitants. And what better way to explore it all than with my trusty pink tutu?

I have to admit, I even found myself dancing with strangers on a few of my journeys! Sometimes a bit of tutu magic just makes the most mundane moments feel like a performance, don't you agree? It definitely makes my commute to dance class a whole lot more exciting.

A Fashion Paradise

I can't resist mentioning the fashion scene here. Honestly, every street feels like a runway, and the vintage shops are a true dream for a tutu-loving girl like me. I found a beautiful 1950s silk dress in a charming little shop on Bleecker Street. It's the perfect shade of pink, of course! It just begs to be twirled in.

Holiday Lights and Magical Moments

New York City is truly breathtaking at this time of year. From the Rockefeller Centre's giant Christmas tree to the festive lights that adorn the city, there's a sense of magic everywhere you look. I even caught a glimpse of a beautiful performance by a group of street musicians playing carols in Times Square. The joy in their music was infectious, and I couldn't help but tap my feet along. It's these little moments of magic that remind me of the importance of living in the moment and embracing the simple things.

The Art of Finding Joy in Every Day

Remember, my dears, finding joy isn't about the destination; it's about savouring the journey. My journey might be fuelled by the passion for ballet, but it's enriched by my love of fashion, the joy of discovering new corners of New York, and, most importantly, the moments of simple magic I encounter along the way. And, of course, let's not forget the little touch of pink tutu sparkle.

I believe that every day is an opportunity to dance, to embrace life's beauty, and to inspire others to find their own joy. It's all about finding the magic in the ordinary, and I know, you can do it too.

And so, as we inch closer to Christmas, I wish you all a week filled with glitter, grace, and of course, a dash of pink tutu inspiration. Don't forget, the best way to spread Christmas cheer is with a smile, a kind gesture, and maybe a little twirl or two.

Until next Monday, keep those tutus twirling!

Much love,

Emma x

P.S.

For those of you wondering, I'm funding my New York City adventures through ballet performances! I love the thrill of the stage, and I'm lucky enough to get booked for a few gigs a week. My next show is at a beautiful theater downtown, so I'm definitely going to put my vintage pink dress to good use.

Keep an eye out for more pink tutu fashion inspiration! I'm planning on doing a post on my favourite shops in New York City soon.
