Pink Tutu Blog: New York City – Monday 16th February 2009 - Post #715

Dearest readers,

It's Monday morning in New York City, and you know what that means! It's time for another fabulous Pink Tutu Blog post. I'm bursting with excitement about my adventures this past week. From a mind-blowing ballet performance to a whirlwind shopping spree, let me tell you, it's been one incredible journey!

As a reminder, this is the blog where I share all the fun and fabulous happenings of my pink tutu-wearing escapades around the world. I'm a Derbyshire girl at heart, but New York City is calling my name, and with a heart filled with the passion for ballet, fashion, and, of course, pink tutus, I couldn't resist this exciting adventure.

Now, let's jump right in!

An Enchanting Evening of Ballet

Thursday evening found me at the New York City Ballet for a performance of "Romeo and Juliet." I have to say, I'm still reeling from the sheer brilliance of the show! The choreography was stunning, and the dancers were breathtakingly beautiful. I particularly loved the expressive use of the pointe shoes. They truly seemed to dance like they were walking on air! It’s moments like these that truly remind me why I love this art form so much!

Afterwards, I indulged in a lovely dinner at a French bistro with a view of the glittering cityscape. And what did I wear? My absolute favourite, my delicate, cherry blossom pink tutu, of course.

Metro Adventures and Pinktastic Finds

Oh, how I love the New York City subway! It's such a characterful part of the city, and getting to explore a new part of the city is always such an exciting part of my week! And who better to travel with than me and my fabulous pink tutu, taking everyone by storm!

Speaking of Pinktastic Finds, you guys won't believe what I discovered during my metro adventures this weekend. Nestled in a charming little boutique in the heart of Greenwich Village, I stumbled upon the most adorable collection of ballerina-themed clothing. Oh, my goodness, they had everything a pink tutu-wearing ballerina could possibly need: pink satin shirts, ballet-inspired cardies, tulle skirts galore... You name it, they had it! It's going to take all my willpower not to buy the entire shop!

Fashion Frenzy and New York Charm

You can't come to New York without indulging in some seriously chic shopping. And this weekend, I took full advantage. I started with a visit to Bergdorf Goodman, where I was absolutely enchanted by the exquisite window displays. From glamorous evening gowns to sophisticated tailored jackets, they were simply divine! I couldn't help but spend a good hour or two perusing their amazing collections.

Afterwards, I took a leisurely stroll along Fifth Avenue and fell in love with a gorgeous silk scarf from Hermès – the colour, a vibrant, coral-pink. Naturally, I had to add it to my collection.

Sunday Strolling

Sunday was a delightful day for wandering through the vibrant streets of SoHo. The neighbourhood is teeming with charming boutiques, art galleries, and a plethora of cafés serving delicious treats. You could easily spend a full day wandering, and I just about did!

One particular stop that deserves a special shout-out is the charming vintage shop I found. They have the most exquisite collection of retro clothes and accessories. The pink satin petticoat that caught my eye was just the perfect addition to my pink wardrobe.

I’m really finding that everyone here is so stylish and sophisticated. Everyone has a wonderful sense of fashion. From chic city suits to elegant flowing dresses, every outfit exudes individuality and style. And of course, let's not forget the pink!

New York in Pink

So, there you have it, another exciting week in New York City, filled with pink-tastic fun and unforgettable moments. The energy here is electric, and it's incredibly inspiring to see everyone's unique styles and personalities reflected in their outfits.

I've already booked my ticket for another Broadway show and am looking forward to exploring a different neighbourhood next weekend. Perhaps I'll venture out to Brooklyn or even Chinatown! I'm sure there are even more fabulous adventures awaiting me.

P.S. Do you have a favourite neighbourhood to visit in New York? Do share in the comments below.

Until next week, my dears! Remember, let's all spread the pink tutu love!

XOXO, Emma

P.P.S. Remember to follow my journey on www.pink-tutu.com! I post every Monday, bringing you the latest adventures in my quest to share the magic of the pink tutu!

P.P.P.S. And finally, I fund my travels with ballet performances, because let’s face it, a tutu-wearing ballerina’s gotta dance!

Oh, and by the way, it’s a very snowy Monday in NYC today. I can hear the sound of the snowploughs clearing the streets. What a beautiful winter wonderland the city has become. But no fear, the sun will be back, and so will the pink! Keep an eye out for Pink Tutu Blog posts to see where I am exploring next.
