Pink Tutu Blog: New York City, Post #751 - Dancing Through the City That Never Sleeps!
Hello darlings, and welcome back to Pink Tutu Blog! It’s Monday, 26th October 2009, and I’m back in New York City after a whirlwind week in the Big Apple. This city truly is magic, and it’s never too early to get a bit swept away by the hustle and bustle of it all. As I type, I’m sat at a window seat in a charming little cafe overlooking a bustling corner. The scent of autumn leaves fills the air, a welcome change from the ever-present aroma of hot dogs and pretzels!
It feels strange to think I'm back in the concrete jungle after just a few weeks ago I was twirling through Derbyshire. But as I've said time and time again, a girl's gotta follow her dreams!
This week has been a real dream come true. It’s the time of year New York truly starts to sparkle, with the crisp autumn air bringing a vibrancy that only this city can boast. The lights are twinkling, the fashion is at its finest, and I am ready to absorb it all, tutus and all!
Speaking of tutus… I just had to pick up a new pink one at that gorgeous vintage shop on Bleecker Street. Oh my, it's practically a work of art. A dreamy shade of pale pink, the most delicate tulle, it’s everything I’ve ever wanted and more. I can’t wait to twirl it through Central Park in the coming weeks!
My Week in a Pink Tutu:
As always, I've packed my itinerary with everything that makes my ballerina heart beat a little faster! Here’s a little peek into what I’ve been up to:
Opening Night Magic: I wouldn't be a true dance fanatic if I didn't see a show or two, right? This week I had the privilege of attending the opening night of a new ballet at the City Center. I won’t give too much away, but let’s just say it had a story that would leave you weeping, a score that had you swooning, and dancers who left me feeling utterly speechless. It was pure magic.
Fashion Feast: If there's one thing that New York knows, it’s how to create a fabulous fashion spectacle! I spent an afternoon browsing the designer boutiques on Fifth Avenue. My favourite find was a stunning pair of ballet flats adorned with the most intricate sequins, and I just had to snag a whimsical feather boa, oh, and a few other little "essentials."
Subway Splendour: I wouldn't be a true New Yorker for the day if I didn't experience the hustle and bustle of the subway. Of course, I managed to make a fashionable arrival, a pop of pink amidst the sea of gray! There’s a certain energy to navigating the bustling underground and getting from A to B with your own personal touch of ballet style!
Tutu-Inspired Treats:
The best part of a week in New York is the food. No city can tempt me quite like this one! Here are a few of my favourite tutu-inspired finds:
Pink Lemonade Delight: The colour of the lemonade from a charming little stand in Brooklyn was a perfect match for my tutu. Refreshing, tangy, and delightful!
The Pinkest Croissant in the World: Yes, this is not a myth! The Parisian-style bakery around the corner from my flat offered the most vibrant, rose-tinted croissant I’d ever seen. Talk about Instagrammable!
Dream in Pink:
You know me, I’m always pushing to spread the joy of ballet and inspire others to embrace the power of twirling. This week I've been sharing my adventures with the wonderful ladies I've met through my Pink Tutu movement. So, to anyone out there considering trying on a tutu: just do it! It might seem a little unusual, a bit bold, but the confidence it will unleash is simply undeniable. And let me tell you, there is nothing quite as liberating as dancing around New York City with your very own pink tutu.
Stay tuned for more pink-tastic adventures next week, darlings. You can follow my New York journey on www.pink-tutu.com!
Until then, may your steps be light, your days filled with smiles, and your wardrobe brimming with a little bit of pink.
Sending you love and twirls from the heart of New York City,
Emma
