Pink Tutu Blog NYC: Post Number 758 - December 14th, 2009

Hello my lovelies!

It's Monday, and you know what that means... another fab post from your favourite pink-loving tutu-wearing ballerina, reporting live from the Big Apple! It's week seven of my New York City adventure, and I'm buzzing with excitement! This city really does have it all, darling!

This week's blog post is a little bit different, though. Instead of focusing on a specific show or a glorious outfit (although you'll definitely see plenty of pink, as always!), I thought I'd take you on a journey with me, documenting my usual Monday routine. From breakfast to the evening, it's a whirlwind of ballerina loveliness!

A Monday in My Pink-Tinted World

It's 8:00 AM on a crisp December morning. The sun is shining, painting a golden glow over the skyscrapers, and a fresh winter breeze is swirling through the streets. It's the perfect day to get my day started, right here in my tiny little pink-walled apartment in the heart of Manhattan!

My trusty little kettle, Mr. Kettle, is whistling away merrily, already brewing the perfect cup of English Breakfast Tea. Today's breakfast is simple but special, a delicious concoction of organic Greek yogurt, berries, and a dollop of homemade honey - it's a fabulously nutritious way to fuel my busy day.

Ballet is My Life

Of course, my first stop is ballet class! Nothing starts my Monday like a little plié and a whole lot of jetés. I’m absolutely obsessed with this new studio, The Broadway Ballet Academy. The instructor is fantastic - she's tough but fair, and the students are a lovely bunch. I'm getting better with each class. Today's routine? A beautiful sequence from 'Swan Lake', full of graceful swan arms and elegant jumps!

Speaking of Swan Lake, I am utterly thrilled about my next ballet show! It's in just a few weeks, a glorious rendition of Swan Lake performed by the world-renowned New York City Ballet. The costume designs are simply divine. I've got my tickets already - two in the front row! It's going to be a spectacular night.

Shopping, Shopping, Shopping!

After ballet, it's off to SoHo for some serious shopping! It's a must-do for every ballerina on a Monday! Today I'm hunting for the perfect pink outfit for tomorrow's rehearsal - something sparkly and comfortable, with a touch of elegance. Maybe a new tutu? Perhaps a stunning vintage lace dress from the fabulous 'Beyond Vintage' boutique? The possibilities are endless.

It wouldn’t be a New York shopping trip without venturing into the magical realm of Bloomingdale’s. They have the most exquisite ballet shoes and designer clothes in their gorgeous shoe department. And they’ve got a beautiful new collection of fluffy pink cashmere sweaters. I think I’ll have to add one to my wardrobe!

Fashion on the Streets

Later on, after grabbing a bite to eat (the vegan burger from the 'Little Veggie' is just divine!), I’ll head to Bryant Park, for a little ballet street dancing with my friends. We've been practicing this fantastic flash mob for weeks now - all inspired by Tchaikovsky’s "Nutcracker Suite". Imagine: dozens of ballet-clad ladies gracefully swirling through the crowds of tourists in the most enchanting of routines. It’s just a taste of the ballet beauty I intend to unleash upon New York City!

I must tell you, I'm becoming a huge fan of New York’s street performers. Last week, I was captivated by a street ballet performance near Washington Square Park. It was incredibly powerful, full of emotions and intricate choreography. The artistry of dance is truly everywhere here, just waiting to be discovered!

Pink Tutus in Every Borough

New York is truly a ballet lovers’ dream come true. And with the pink tutus! My mission in New York, darling, is to get everyone dancing, and to get everyone wearing pink! I want to transform the city into a ballet wonderland, a spectacle of vibrant pink, a shimmering sea of tulle! I imagine pink tutus filling every corner of the city, from Central Park to the Staten Island Ferry. Isn't that just lovely?

Tonight's Adventures

Tonight, after a lovely home-cooked dinner of pan-fried salmon with sauteéd green beans and sweet potatoes (my cooking’s getting pretty fancy!), I’m off to see ‘West Side Story’ on Broadway! I've heard it's an incredible performance, and it's sure to be a wonderful way to end the day. My New York evenings are always filled with wonder. It could be a classical concert at Carnegie Hall, a jazz show in Greenwich Village, or a mesmerizing Broadway show.

I simply adore the vibrant cultural scene in New York. It’s all so accessible. One day I'm enjoying a symphony at Lincoln Center, and the next I’m laughing my way through a Shakespearean comedy at the Shakespeare Theater Company!

I even visited The Met last week! What a feast for the eyes! A beautiful exhibition of Italian Renaissance sculptures followed by an intimate performance of a Mozart Sonata by the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. Oh, how lucky I am to have these magical experiences at my fingertips.
