Pink Tutu Blog NYC: Post Number 769 🩰✨

Monday 1st March 2010

Good morning darlings! ☀️ I hope you're all having a lovely start to the week. It's a glorious day here in the Big Apple - crisp, sunny, and oh so exciting! I've just had a delicious brunch at a charming cafe in Greenwich Village, the sunshine streaming through the windows as I tucked into a fluffy stack of pancakes and a cup of perfectly frothed latte.

Speaking of charming cafes, can we just talk about New York for a second? It's just so alive, so full of energy. Every street corner seems to hold a hidden gem - a quirky vintage store, a vibrant street performer, or a friendly cafe overflowing with delicious smells. Honestly, it's enough to make your heart sing!

And this week, I'm going to share some of the highlights from my travels so far.

From the Underground to the Spotlight

The first thing that struck me when I arrived in New York was the metro - it's a complete symphony of sound, colour and human energy. People are crammed together, all going about their day, but the air hums with excitement and anticipation. And then, there's the street art! From the vibrant murals to the graffiti-covered train carriages, New York truly is an artist's canvas. I always pack my camera for the Metro journeys - some stunning pieces of art and photography I have found in those tunnels!

The Metro was my loyal steed on my way to the New York City Ballet this weekend. I just had to get myself a little souvenir to mark this wonderful occasion, so, I had to snag myself an NYC Ballet T-shirt, oh so very pink of course, naturally!

I took a couple of trips in a pink tutu on my metro travels - everyone loved it, I think. My fellow commuters always seem a bit surprised at first, but then they always end up grinning, giving a thumbs up or a cheery nod of appreciation.

A Touch of Elegance: NYC Ballet

It was a complete fairytale - the elegance of the dancers, the beauty of the choreography, the shimmering stage lights. Every sense was in overdrive! I found myself completely captivated by the grace and precision of the movements. The energy in the theatre was electric, and I could feel myself getting swept away by the sheer magic of the performance.

Afterwards, I treated myself to a delectable ice cream cone in Bryant Park, savoring the lingering afterglow of the ballet. It's the perfect way to end an evening spent amongst such stunning artistry.

The Power of the Pink Tutu

I was thrilled to find a beautiful vintage pink tutu in a little boutique in Brooklyn. It has these delicate feathers, and the colour is the most gorgeous, pale, blush pink - like a soft rose petal. I already know I'm going to rock it! My mission is to bring the magic of tutus to New York, and show the world that this fabulous item of clothing has a place in every woman’s wardrobe, not just in the world of Ballet. It's a symbol of whimsy, elegance, and unbridled joy!

Of course, I wouldn't be a true fashionista if I didn't make a day out of it, so I explored the fashion houses of the Fifth Avenue - you wouldn’t believe how much lovely pink clothing I found, even pink shoes in fabulous new styles, it's amazing. After a quick, pink themed lunch (I was in such a mood) I got back to the hotel and made myself a little afternoon tea with a very special selection of little pink iced biscuits - it's these little things that make me happy!

On the Agenda: A New York Week of Inspiration

I can't wait to discover all that New York City has in store this week! My plans are still in their tutu-infused planning stage, but I have a few highlights I'm super excited about:

  • Sunday: Broadway bound! It's time to experience the magic of Broadway! My darling Mum is flying over from Derbyshire for a visit so we're both very excited to go see a show! Of course I’ve got my tickets for a play in pink attire - no spoilers here but it involves a bit of glitz, some glam and possibly a feather boa! I must admit, I do love dressing up for the theater. You’ve never truly felt elegant in a dress, until you’ve felt the plush velvet seats and experienced the opulence of Broadway. I’ll be sharing my review next week in a blogpost special!

  • Tuesday: Fashion Extravaganza! After a very busy Saturday morning of shopping - it wouldn't be a trip to New York City without some fashion splurging - we’ll be taking in some art and exploring the Met. Of course, I'll be looking for inspiration for my next blog post about the fashion on offer in New York,

  • Wednesday: Ballet in the Big Apple! I'm headed back to the New York City Ballet - this time for a class with a world renowned dancer!

Looking Ahead

I'm so grateful to have the chance to experience all that New York City has to offer. This city never sleeps and, honestly, neither do I. I find the energy exhilarating, it fuels my imagination and I’m inspired at every turn!

I’ve found so many pink things that make my heart sing, so many fun activities that spark joy and so many incredible people to meet.

Until next week, stay sparkly! ✨

Love,

Emma 💖
