#PinkTutuBlogNYC: Dancing Through the Big Apple - Post #789
Hello, darling dears! Emma here, and what a week it's been! It's Monday, the 19th of July 2010, and the sun's practically burning a hole in the sky above New York City. But let me tell you, nothing, absolutely nothing, can dampen my enthusiasm for the most fabulous city in the world!
Now, if you've been following my adventures in #PinkTutuBlogNYC, you know I'm a bit of a ballet nut. But beyond just twirling around in my favourite pink tutu, I absolutely love exploring the world of theatre, both on and off the stage. And this week, I've been indulging my love of all things fabulous in the most wonderful way.
First off, let's talk about fashion. Because what trip to New York City is complete without a bit of retail therapy, eh? This weekend, I treated myself to a whirlwind shopping spree at Bloomingdale's - they have the most exquisite collection of clothes for the modern ballerina. Imagine my delight when I stumbled upon the most divine pair of pale pink satin ballet flats, with just the right amount of sparkle to add a bit of magic to every step! Oh, they are simply to die for. And naturally, I couldn't leave without a little something for my collection of tutus - I picked up a divine blush-pink one, oh, the dreaminess! And, of course, a little touch of fuchsia for good measure, it goes without saying!
But it wasn't all about the clothes! I'm all about balance, darling dears! And so, on Saturday evening, I was lucky enough to see the most mesmerising performance by the New York City Ballet. It was absolutely captivating! I swear, every single dancer in that company is pure magic! The choreography was dazzling, the costumes were simply stunning, and the music, oh the music, made me feel like I was floating on a cloud of pink tulle!
Now, it would be remiss of me to mention New York without mentioning the magnificent, magnificent, iconic metro! It's one of the most vibrant, buzzing, and frankly amazing systems of public transport I have ever seen! From the bright red train carriages, to the iconic subway entrances and the relentless energy of the commuters - it's a fascinating journey just taking a ride from Brooklyn to Manhattan. This weekend I was lucky enough to get a few snaps with some fabulous commuters who absolutely understood the #PinkTutuBlogNYC vibe. Let me tell you, they were total stars, totally getting my vision for fabulousness on a Tuesday morning! I just love how New Yorkers can truly be the best, the most unique and most inspiring in the whole world. You guys are phenomenal!
And I've just discovered the most charming ballet studio, hidden away in Greenwich Village. The studio itself is a little jewel box - all painted a cheerful pink, of course - and the instructors are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. They welcomed me with open arms, even with my crazy pink tutu, and their classes were incredibly inspiring. Oh, the stretches, the leaps, the graceful spins...pure delight, darling dears, pure delight!
But this trip hasn't just been about fun and games, I promise! I’ve been trying my hand at getting a few local ballet performances booked in. My little Derbyshire twinkle toes are getting a taste of what a true New York Ballerina can achieve! I’ve found that while ballet might be considered quite traditional in Derbyshire, the style is slightly different here! But oh, the dedication is just as passionate here - in every studio and on every stage! And guess what?! I'm absolutely thrilled to say I’ll be taking to the stage at a small theatre in Greenwich Village this coming weekend! You guys know, a girl’s gotta have a dream!
So there you have it, my darling dears! My New York City adventure continues. I’m busy planning my next performance and getting ready for another week of ballet and brilliance! You know where to find me - on the vibrant streets of New York, maybe in a local cafe having a delicious slice of pink grapefruit cake, or else, perhaps on the metro heading to another amazing experience. Who knows where #PinkTutuBlogNYC will lead me next!
But remember - whether you’re in New York, Derbyshire, or anywhere in between, never, ever forget the magic of a twirl, a leap, and a splash of pink. Now go out there and embrace your inner ballerina!
Until next Monday, darlings!
Emma
