Pink Tutu Blog NYC: Monday 16th December 2013 (Post #967)

Greetings from the Big Apple, darlings!

It's Monday morning, and the city's already buzzing. The sound of traffic, the scent of coffee and croissants, the excited chatter of tourists - New York in December has a distinct, sparkly magic all its own. It's the perfect place to wear a pink tutu, wouldn't you agree?

This week, I'm filled with a flurry of excitement! It's the festive season, and you know what that means… Christmas shows, glittering shop windows, and an endless supply of delicious festive treats. Plus, I'm catching the opening night of "The Nutcracker" at the New York City Ballet tonight - I can hardly contain my excitement!

This trip, I’m really feeling the vibe of the city. As you all know, I'm always a huge fan of street fashion. This city really delivers on that front. So much to inspire my sartorial choices, darling. Today, I’m embracing a sleek, modern silhouette: a gorgeous blush-coloured cashmere coat, my favourite cherry-red stilettos, and of course, a tulle-layered blush-coloured pink tutu (you simply cannot travel in New York without a fabulous tutu!). And since it’s December, I’ve even added a touch of winter charm with a tiny pink beanie and a festive cherry red handbag.

Speaking of inspiration, one of the things I adore most about this city is the subway system. I don’t know what it is about those underground tunnels, but the people-watching possibilities are simply divine! I spent the weekend wandering through the bustling carriages, marveling at the creativity and diversity of New Yorkers’ style choices. You wouldn’t believe some of the fantastic ensembles I saw! A dashing young gentleman with a velvet coat and a beret? Absolutely! A granny rocking a leather jacket and fishnet tights? You bet! A group of school children decked out in head-to-toe neon? Don’t even get me started! New York’s a veritable wonderland for anyone who loves observing people, and frankly, who doesn’t love people-watching?

Now, I have to confess, there’s a certain level of grit to New York City. But darling, that’s part of its charm. There’s this energy, this vibrancy, that you simply don’t find in any other city. The chaos of Times Square, the artfulness of the Met, the sheer deliciousness of a pizza slice from a hole-in-the-wall joint… it’s an exhilarating sensory experience that you can only get in New York City.

As a little something special to inspire you all, let's talk about fashion this week. This time, it's all about embracing colour and textures. Just because it's winter, doesn't mean you have to ditch all your favourite colours. Pink and red, particularly, are having a moment in the Big Apple! Don’t be afraid to layer a blush-toned cardigan over your favourite silk dress, or throw a scarlet scarf around your shoulders with a touch of glitter. Remember, you're an inspiration to others!

I'm still searching for the perfect winter accessory, one that screams festive glamour and still goes well with a pink tutu. It has to be elegant but also eye-catching, and a little bit bold. I can see it now – something that will sparkle just enough in the streetlights but is subtle enough not to outshine my gorgeous pink tutu. Any suggestions, darlings? Leave your ideas in the comments below!

As I wrap up this week's blog, I'm reminded of something that resonates deeply with me: "If you're going to dream, dream big!" I know I might get some strange looks when I twirl down Fifth Avenue in a pink tutu, but so what? It's all about embracing your unique style and having fun, isn't it? We only get one life, darling! And that’s what I’m doing - chasing my dreams, one sparkly pink tutu at a time!

See you next week, darlings! And remember - spread the joy with a little bit of pink magic in your lives!

Until then, live in pink, twirl with passion, and stay fabulous!

**Lots of love,

Emma**
