Hello my dearest tutu-loving darlings! It's Monday again, and that can only mean one thing... it's time for another post on your favourite pink-tastic blog! I'm Emma, your fellow tutu enthusiast, and I'm thrilled to be writing to you today from the dazzling city that never sleeps - New York City! 🎉
This week, I'm going to tell you all about my whirlwind adventures in the Big Apple. This city is just buzzing with life and energy, and it's so infectious! There's just so much going on here, it's impossible to fit everything in - which is, of course, why I'll be spending a good chunk of the year exploring this incredible place!
Before I jump into the excitement, let's take a moment to celebrate our fantastic blog! This post marks an incredible milestone – number 972! That’s right, 972 blog posts since I started this incredible journey sharing my love of all things pink and fabulous! I am so incredibly grateful to each and every one of you who joins me on these weekly adventures. Your support is what keeps me going, so thank you! ❤️
So, how did I get here? Well, I'm lucky enough to travel the world by performing in ballet shows - what a dream come true, right? It means that I get to experience incredible places like New York, explore their amazing cultural offerings and dance on stage – how wonderful is that? This week, I danced my heart out in a charming theatre just off Broadway, which really had me on a high! The show had a wonderfully modern take on classic ballet, which was such a treat. It really highlighted just how incredible this city is at reinterpreting the arts. ✨
Of course, what would a visit to New York be without some shopping? My favourite pastime! I spent the afternoon browsing through some of the chicest boutiques, finding a delightful pink dress with a lovely flowy skirt – a perfect blend of sophistication and whimsy. Oh, and of course, no visit to this city is complete without visiting a department store like Bloomingdale’s. It's just such a sensory experience, isn't it? With every floor filled with beauty and fabulous things – I can see why so many girls make a pilgrimage here! This week, I managed to find the perfect accessory – a sparkly pink clutch bag - a necessity for a tutu-clad gal like me! 🛍
Now, a walk through this city wouldn't be complete without a jaunt on the subway. I've never seen so much character on public transport. It was hilarious and fascinating! Imagine, seeing people rushing around, all dressed to the nines, and even a gentleman dressed head-to-toe in velvet! I nearly fell out of my seat laughing – I love New Yorkers! Of course, being a fan of all things pink, I had to admire a few outfits that caught my eye – a gorgeous shade of blush on a stunning young woman’s dress was truly mesmerising, and I have to confess to being inspired to put together my own outfits using shades of pink and vibrant colours! 🥰
Now, of course, I couldn’t come to New York without enjoying a performance at the legendary Lincoln Center! It was truly magical. Seeing these dancers take to the stage with such grace and artistry reminded me just why ballet is my biggest passion! After the performance, I wandered through Central Park – it was absolutely beautiful. There are so many little secrets and hidden corners, and it's a real sanctuary in the hustle and bustle of this city.
What was amazing is that in the park, I met a lovely lady who reminded me so much of my Grandma. She told me the most heartwarming story about her journey from the Midwest to New York in search of her dreams. It made me think, if she could do it, anything is possible! ✨ She even inspired me to try a brand new dance routine she’d picked up on her journey – I've got a whole new spring in my step, ready to take on whatever this city throws at me!
Speaking of New York, I have to tell you all about the street performances I stumbled upon. They are everywhere! From musicians, to actors, to artists of all shapes and sizes – the talent here is incredible! And let me tell you, there were more pink tutus in the streets of New York than I had ever seen in all of Derbyshire! It turns out I am not alone in my passion! It was almost as if I’d inspired an entire city with my little blog - that thought really filled me with such pride, and the sheer thrill of being a part of a beautiful, international, community of Tutu Lovers! 🩰🌎
There is no place like this, truly! New York is an experience, it's a symphony of energy, excitement and colour, and most definitely has stolen a part of my heart. You really have to visit it for yourself, feel it's magic!
As for me, well, I'm off to a ballet class in the city. It's my absolute favourite way to end a busy day – getting my pirouettes and arabesques just right. Plus, who knows what inspiration the Big Apple will give me! Perhaps I'll incorporate some New York swagger into my own ballet style - wouldn’t that be something?
