Pink Tutu Blog NYC: Post 996 - A Week of Whirlwinds in the Big Apple
Hello, darlings! Emma here, ready to whisk you away to the dazzling metropolis that is New York City, and for a special reason: it's Monday, and that means it's time for another glorious Pink Tutu Blog NYC post!
As always, my darling tutu is with me. It's a classic shade of blush, the perfect pink for a day of exploration. This week, I've been channeling my inner Mary Poppins ā "practically perfect in every way", you know ā because this city truly has it all. From the awe-inspiring majesty of the Met to the dazzling lights of Broadway, New York is a feast for the senses.
Let me take you on a journey through the highlights of my week, starting with a moment of pure joy that left me grinning like a Cheshire cat.
Monday: Ballet Under the Brooklyn Bridge
The week began with a delightful twist: a ballet performance held under the Brooklyn Bridge. Imagine a breathtaking view of the city skyline, twinkling lights illuminating the bridge, the gentle murmur of the East River in the background, and the graceful movements of dancersā¦ magical, isn't it? It was like a dream come true. And speaking of dreams, the performance itself was utterly charming. A charming young choreographer, fresh from Julliard, had created this beautiful contemporary ballet that told a story of young love and the hustle of city life. The piece ended with the entire cast performing under a rain of golden confetti. Swoon!
After the show, I took a romantic stroll across the bridge, my tutu catching the evening breeze like a ballerinaās skirt in the spotlight.
Tuesday: "The Book of Mormon" and Fashion Fever
On Tuesday, I was feeling daring. Broadway called! And oh, the theatre!* I chose āThe Book of Mormonā. What a show! Hilarious, bold, and ultimately a poignant story about the power of faith. It reminded me that laughter truly is the best medicine.
Afterwards, I strolled down 5th Avenue and window shopped for a few hours. What can I say, New York has a knack for getting you in the mood to shop. The mannequins looked absolutely glamorous in their chicest outfits. I found myself wishing I had the opportunity to dress like a supermodel, twirling down the sidewalk, with a tutu, of course!
Wednesday: The Metropolitan Museum of Art
No trip to New York City is complete without a visit to the Met, and I wasn't about to disappoint! As you all know, I have a penchant for all things pink, so I was particularly drawn to the captivating collection of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist art, with its delicate brushstrokes and vibrant hues. A certain Claude Monet was a personal favourite, his depictions of water lilies reminding me of the dreamy dance of a ballerina. I even discovered a magnificent tapestry in the French galleries featuring an exquisite ballerina in a soft pink tutu! How serendipitous.
After the museum, I enjoyed a classic New York experience, a stroll through Central Park, with my pink tutu trailing behind me like a delicate plume of feathers. A flock of pigeons took notice and decided to have a close-up look! They loved the colour pink, as they pecked my tutu in search of crumbs!
Thursday: A Ballet Masterclass
No week in New York City would be complete without a proper ballet class, and Thursday afternoon found me dancing my heart out in the hallowed halls of the American Ballet Theatre studio. I always feel energised and revitalized after a ballet class, my limbs lighter, my spirits brighter, and my confidence soaring! This week, I tried a brand new class that incorporated a modern style of ballet fused with traditional techniques. And guess what? I wore my tutu ā it gave me a unique twist, even in the studio.
Friday: Broadway Bound
For Friday night's entertainment, I treated myself to another Broadway show. This time, it was the timeless classic "Cats". The choreography was a true feast for the eyes. And I've got to admit, even I felt like swaying in my seat! After all, thereās something undeniably alluring about a group of cats dancing and singing, especially on the iconic Broadway stage. The vibrant costumes and imaginative set design truly transported me to another world, leaving me feeling awestruck and filled with the joy of the stage.
Saturday: A Day of Glamour
Saturday dawned bright, a day perfectly planned for a touch of glamour. I was up early and took a morning trip to Bergdorf Goodmanās, and boy oh boy, what a sensory overload of elegance! A paradise for the senses and a haven for those with a passion for all things luxurious. The sheer volume of beautiful gowns, designer handbags, and glittering jewellery made me giddy with excitement! It truly was a breathtaking symphony of style, and as I walked past the elegant displays, I imagined myself gracing a red carpet, adorned in one of the magnificent gowns. Oh, to be a movie star in New York for a day, wearing the perfect pink tutu, of course! The glamour continued as I enjoyed a decadent high tea in the Palm Court of the Plaza Hotel. The ambiance was simply divine.
Sunday: Exploring the Metro
This morning I decided to experience the Big Apple like a true local, taking a ride on the iconic subway. Yes, my darling tutu and I braved the underground and rode the metro lines! Let me tell you, it was an absolute blast. New Yorkās metro is like an art gallery of human character and everyday life ā people-watching galore! It felt exhilarating to experience a different side of this fast-paced city. As the train hurtled through tunnels, I imagined the countless stories of this diverse, energetic city, stories I was only just beginning to unravel.
I hope this glimpse into my week has given you a taste of the exhilarating life I lead here in New York.
But before we part ways, letās not forget what is most important. Why is my tutu so essential? Why, to share a vital piece of my mission!
