Pink Tutu Blog: NYC Adventures, Post #1006 – Monday, 15th September 2014
Good morning, darling! It's Monday, which means another adventure in New York City is about to unfold, and I'm bursting with excitement! The energy here is just electric, especially with the season getting into full swing. The leaves are just beginning to show the slightest hints of amber, and there's a crispness in the air that makes me feel wonderfully alive.
This week, my journey will take me through the glittering streets of the Upper East Side, where I'll be hunting down vintage treasures to add to my ever-growing wardrobe. The shops here are overflowing with chic pieces, perfect for creating dazzling ballet-inspired ensembles. But first, a quick update on my past week in this magical metropolis!
A Week in Tutu-licious New York
Last Monday, I kicked off my week with a heavenly treat – a ballet class at the American Ballet Theatre studio! Now, I know I talk a lot about my love for ballet, but I truly believe it's the most beautiful and graceful form of dance. Being surrounded by such incredible talent is truly inspiring, and the studio itself has a charming aura of tradition and excellence.
After my class, I popped over to Bloomingdale's, where I discovered a gloriously pink feathered clutch bag, absolutely perfect for my next ballet performance! My pink wardrobe needs a new flourish, and what better than a touch of dazzling pink feathers?
The rest of the week was a whirlwind of activity – I watched an awe-inspiring performance at the Metropolitan Opera, catching up with some fellow ballet enthusiasts from London who were also in the city. The production was exquisite – stunning costumes, breathtaking choreography, and a truly captivating storyline that had us on the edge of our seats! Afterwards, we all shared a celebratory drink in a glamorous, dimly-lit bar, discussing the performance with infectious enthusiasm.
On Wednesday, I finally managed to check out the new exhibit at the Museum of Modern Art, which featured a collection of photographs from renowned ballet photographers. Seeing these iconic moments captured on film truly showcased the sheer beauty and artistic prowess of ballet, leaving me utterly mesmerised.
Thursday brought another exciting ballet performance – a dazzling showcase of contemporary ballet by the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. The sheer athleticism and innovative choreography were truly remarkable, and left me yearning to see them perform again soon. The energy in the theatre was infectious, with everyone buzzing with admiration after each graceful move.
On Friday, my exploration took me to Greenwich Village, a quirky and vibrant neighbourhood overflowing with independent shops and street art. I discovered a delightful little vintage clothing boutique tucked away in a cobbled backstreet, and found a stunning black sequined skirt perfect for creating a sassy, ballet-inspired look.
Fashion Finds and Inspiration
Saturday was a shopping extravaganza. I couldn't resist the lure of a brand new pair of ballet shoes! You know I can't resist a good sale, and I found these beautiful pink satin pumps for a steal. Now I have the perfect pair of shoes to complete any ballet-inspired look!
The weekend finished off on a high with another breathtaking performance – this time, at the iconic Broadway theatre, Radio City Music Hall. I must admit, the Rockettes, in their sparkling costumes and elegant choreography, left me feeling like a child again, awestruck and breathless. There’s a reason they call them ‘legends’.
Of course, my New York adventure wouldn't be complete without exploring the city's vibrant nightlife! A group of us dined in a bustling little Italian restaurant in Soho, relishing authentic pizzas and discussing our ballet obsessions over a glass of sparkling wine. The atmosphere was so warm and inviting, with lively chatter and laughter all around.
My Pink Tutu Love Letter
But, of course, my ultimate highlight this week was…well, you guessed it – the pink tutu! My darling, pink tutu was the perfect accessory to every outfit, every ballet class, and every magical evening. Honestly, it never fails to turn heads and spark a smile, especially here in New York, a city where style is truly an art form! I truly believe everyone should own a pink tutu, as a reminder to embrace their inner sparkle and shine brighter than ever before.
From Derbyshire to New York City – The Pink Tutu Travels
Remember, my love for all things pink started right back in Derbyshire, England, a county known for its stunning rolling hills and quaint little villages. Even then, I always loved embracing my unique sense of style, twirling in tutus, and bringing a touch of femininity to my every outfit. Coming to New York City has given me a chance to explore my passions, connect with my fellow ballet enthusiasts, and share my love for the art form and the power of pink.
The experience has been magical, but more than that, it's been a reminder that it's perfectly okay to be yourself – to stand out from the crowd and to spread your joy wherever you go.
Next Week – Back to the Studio!
Speaking of spreading joy, I'm looking forward to next week, when I’m back at the ballet studio, honing my skills and sharing my passion for ballet with others. I also have a brand new batch of pink tutu designs in mind for you, so watch out for some exciting news next week. I can’t wait to show you the magic that unfolds!
Until then, twirl, twirl, twirl – and remember to always embrace your inner pink!
