Pink Tutu Blog NYC - Post #1008: Twirling in the Big Apple
Hello lovelies!
It’s Monday, and that means it’s time for a new post from your favourite pink tutu-wearing traveller, right here in the Big Apple! Can you believe it’s been almost a year since I started writing this blog? Time flies when you’re having fun – and twirling, of course! 😉
I’m absolutely buzzing after this past week, because New York has been an absolute dream come true. As soon as I landed at JFK, I knew I was going to fall in love all over again.
Now, before I bore you with all the details of my adventures, let’s talk fashion, shall we?
A Pink Tutu Paradise
This week, my pink tutu wardrobe has been getting a lot of attention – it’s been such a blast combining my passion for ballet with the vibrant energy of this city. Seriously, it's practically impossible to not twirl in a tutu when you’re surrounded by iconic sights like Times Square and Central Park!
It's also been brilliant catching up with some of my fabulous ballerina friends who’ve moved to NYC for a little pink tutu twinning action. Let’s just say we’ve definitely been causing a stir on the subway – in a good way, of course!
A Tutuful Day at the Met
Of course, no trip to New York is complete without a visit to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. On Thursday, I made my way to the Upper East Side in my most dramatic pink tutu (because every ballerina needs a dramatic tutu, don’t you think?) to see the latest exhibition – something about 18th-century fashion. It was absolutely breathtaking. And, yes, I took plenty of tutu-clad photos!
New York City Ballet: A Dream Come True
This weekend was a real highlight. After a fun morning spent browsing vintage shops and cafes in SoHo, I headed straight to Lincoln Center for the opening night of the New York City Ballet’s season. It was a true masterpiece.
As soon as the curtain rose, I was mesmerized. The costumes, the dancers, the music, and of course the incredible choreography were just perfection. Let’s just say I definitely got swept away to a magical world. Honestly, every ballet-loving heart needs to experience a New York City Ballet performance at least once in their life.
Ballet in the Streets
After the performance, a group of us grabbed a few hotdogs and then headed over to a performance in Washington Square Park – some amazing street dancers doing hip-hop routines in their bright, colourful clothing. You could tell how passionate they were about their art, and the energy in the crowd was just electric.
Seeing a flash mob pop up in Times Square on my way back to my hotel was just the cherry on top. You know me, I'm always on the lookout for the next tutu inspiration, and these guys weren't afraid to flaunt their moves. Talk about being in the right place at the right time!
Fashion Inspiration Galore
Of course, New York City is the fashion capital of the world, and this week has been all about exploring the streets and soaking up the incredible fashion inspiration on offer. I’ve found some incredible vintage shops in the East Village that are perfect for adding a bit of vintage glam to my pink tutu wardrobe.
My favourite find was this amazing, sparkling pink silk skirt that was hiding in a dusty corner. Let’s just say it’s going to look fabulous paired with my newest pink tutu – the one with the feathers! 😉
Tutu-ing around the City
Now, I'm definitely not the only one who loves pink tutus! Every time I put mine on, I meet people from all walks of life who tell me their favourite childhood memories about twirling in tutus. I mean, come on, what's not to love about dancing around and feeling like a princess?
New York City is the kind of place where you can wear a pink tutu, dance on the street, and everyone just smiles. I think the energy of this city inspires creativity and fun, and that’s exactly why I love it here so much.
Making Friends Along the Way
One of the best parts of this trip has been making so many new friends. I've had coffee with bloggers, designers, and aspiring dancers, sharing our passions and stories over yummy New York bagels. I think it's safe to say that my network of tutu-loving friends is growing exponentially!
Always on the Lookout
My aim in life is to get everyone in the world to wear a pink tutu at least once. And my time in New York City has reminded me why. I've seen how the simplest thing - like twirling in a pink tutu - can bring joy and laughter to everyone around you.
A Pink Tutu Reminder
Here's a reminder to everyone out there – don't be afraid to embrace your inner ballerina and let your personality shine. Put on a pink tutu, twirl around, and spread some happiness in the world!
Until next time, darling readers,
Lots of love,
Emma
