Hello darlings! It's Emma here, your resident pink tutu aficionado, and this week I'm bursting with excitement to share my adventures in the Big Apple! 🍎 I've finally touched down in New York City, the capital of dreams, and let me tell you, it's even more spectacular than I imagined. ✨
I've been meaning to visit this iconic metropolis for ages, and thanks to my recent ballet performances at the Royal Albert Hall (a pinch-me-I-must-be-dreaming moment!), I finally had the opportunity and the funds to make it happen! It's been a whirlwind of activity since I arrived, and I've already discovered so much. But, fear not, dear readers, I'm here to give you the full pink tutu lowdown on my experiences, and let me tell you, they've been nothing short of fabulous.
My arrival was a bit chaotic, naturally. Lugging my sparkly pink suitcase through JFK airport with all my tutu accessories - including my signature fluffy pink tutu and a spare in case of a dance-induced accident - always raises a few eyebrows. I must confess, the security guards were a bit confused when they scanned my sparkly tutu, thinking it was a suspicious metal object. "But darling, it's tulle," I exclaimed. "It's as innocent as a fluffy bunny rabbit!"
Of course, being the ambassador of pink tutus that I am, I just can't resist spreading the tutu love. While queuing for my Uber, I offered to twirl for a couple of children waiting for their mum - and let me tell you, they absolutely loved it! It's all about spreading that pink tutu joy, right? 💖
And speaking of spreading the joy, the metro in New York is something else entirely. Think crammed trains, jostling elbows and the unmistakable scent of hot dogs, but there's something magical about it all. A true testament to the energy of the city, I think. Imagine my delight when a fellow passenger recognised my pink tutu and even struck up a conversation! I must confess, it gave me such a thrill to be embraced for embracing my unique style.
My first stop, naturally, was a detour to Times Square. What a truly exhilarating experience! It was like walking straight into a dazzling stage production! All those giant billboards, the hustle and bustle of the crowd... and I couldn't help but channel my inner dancer and give a little twirl.
Then, of course, no trip to New York would be complete without a shopping spree! 🛍️ It's an absolute mecca for all things fashionable, from designer boutiques to charming vintage stores. I was on a mission to find the perfect accessory to complement my favourite pink tutu, and wouldn't you know it, I stumbled upon a delightful feather boa at a charming vintage store on Bleecker Street. It was simply meant to be! Can't wait to show you all in my next post!
Ballet Adventures in New York
And speaking of the theatre, darling, I can't even begin to express my excitement for seeing New York City Ballet's performance of Swan Lake at the Lincoln Center on Tuesday! I'm already dreaming of those breathtaking costumes and the ethereal movements of the dancers. I've heard whispers about their new artistic director, Wendy Whelan, and I'm absolutely thrilled to witness her vision come to life. I can't wait to write all about it here for you on Wednesday!
I've also discovered this incredible ballet school in the West Village, "The Tutu Studio" - what a wonderful name! I've signed up for a beginners class on Wednesday evening. The lovely lady running the studio - her name is Evelyn, such a charming name - encouraged me to join in a "Pink Tutu Tuesday" class. It sounds amazing, doesn't it?
And get this - I even found a delightful street performance outside Grand Central Station! A talented young man with a beautifully painted pink tutu (very artistic, wouldn't you say?) dancing with such grace. It was a truly heartwarming performance.

I'm already inspired by this amazing city and its incredible people. I'm determined to bring the pink tutu revolution to New York! The more we embrace our individuality, the more beautiful and unique the world becomes. 🌎
