Pink Tutu Blog NYC: #1010 - Twirling in the Big Apple!

Hey darlings! Emma here, and it's Monday again, which means it's time for a fresh Pink Tutu Blog post! I'm so excited to be writing to you all from the Big Apple, New York City. It’s been a whirl of a weekend and, as usual, a tutu-licious time.

I must say, I adore the feeling of arrival in a new city, that exhilarating rush of possibility. This week's adventures began, as always, at the ballet studio - in a totally different part of Manhattan this time. I must admit to being slightly nervous before class; the energy of the city does tend to ramp things up a little. But within minutes, I felt back in my comfort zone. I just can't help it; there's something truly magical about the feeling of stretching and pliéing amidst fellow dancers. Even more magical when I am wearing my signature pink tutu. I am getting the entire city to wear tutus and it's becoming my life's work. We’re all so fabulous and beautiful. The sheer, delicate tulle and the light as air quality just lend an air of grace and beauty to whatever I’m doing.

I know some of you back home may be thinking, "Why on earth is Emma in New York again?" Well, the answer is simple - because this city is an absolute treasure trove of everything that sparkles in my eyes. We have amazing ballet, exciting shows, dazzling shops, and a delicious buzz that's just electric. Plus, who can resist a chance to explore new corners of this magnificent city? And I just love seeing the people, I get such inspiration for my own outfits from what everyone else wears. They are all such fashion icons!

As you might already know, I fund my travels through the grace of performing ballet. This week's shows have taken me across New York and I was lucky to catch a delightful production of the 'Sleeping Beauty' at the beautiful Lincoln Center - I practically had goosebumps the entire time, just as I knew I would! The beauty, the drama, the dazzling costumes…it just stole my heart, yet again. I spent most of my time just staring, lost in the wonder of it all, like a child captivated by the moon in a summer sky. I will never stop getting inspired by dance. Even better, I get to meet such lovely people through dancing, so I was so glad to spend time after the performance talking to the cast and taking a couple of fabulous photos with the dancers who told me their favorite ballet memories. It was just brilliant.

Now, a quick word about the magnificent city itself. The hustle and bustle never ceases to amaze me. Everywhere I looked, there were new sights and sounds. New York is truly alive, and its energy is intoxicating! The sheer number of people, each with their own story, their own hopes and dreams, just blows me away! But amidst the chaos and crowds, I managed to find some delightful peace.

My Little Gem: On my journey through New York City, I stumbled upon the tiniest and cutest little bookstore, nestled right into the midst of the grand, busy buildings. This shop felt almost secretive - it wasn't really designed to be seen or easily found. It had its charm. It’s a place where you could truly lose yourself for hours in the beautiful world of literature.

Fashion finds I love the sheer volume of clothes that New York City has. But let me tell you, the boutiques and shops were all a treat for my eyes, a feast for the fashion-lover that I am. I discovered a little gem of a vintage boutique near Washington Square, crammed with fabulous clothes. I picked out a beautiful silk scarf - you know I couldn't resist anything with a lovely pink hue! That one's going straight on my Pink Tutu blog Insta feed - you all have to see this, and tell me what you think, darlings. I’m going to use the scarf to accessorize my most daring outfits this week, which I can't wait to show you all later.

New York has such a brilliant array of street fashion - a real kaleidoscope of colors and styles, something to capture everyone's eye, and that makes it so much fun! One of my absolute favorite things is simply taking a long walk along streets like Fifth Avenue and soaking it all in, watching the different styles on parade, I get inspiration for new things to try all the time. I picked up the most gorgeous coral velvet jacket in an incredible sale in SoHo yesterday - and at bargain basement prices too! It just had to come home with me, it will make a great stand-out piece to wear with black pants. The city can make a girl very happy indeed!

The subway here really is my happy place; just squeezing onto a carriage and being swept along to the beat of the tracks is fascinating to me. In England we rarely see much color in our transport system! So I really enjoy being surrounded by the bright colours and the hustle of New York. The energy that surges through this place just seeps into your bones. Every journey seems to become a part of the city itself, and I just love it. I think I could easily spend weeks just riding on the New York Metro.

And what would New York be without the theatre? Well, I headed down to Broadway and managed to catch the amazing "Wicked," and was absolutely mesmerized - I laughed, cried, and clapped till my hands hurt! You know, it's more than just watching the performance - you really feel like you're immersed in the story and the emotions of the actors.

This week is going to be filled with exciting dance, theatre, and of course, a whole lot of delicious food, shopping, and enjoying the sheer magic of being here in New York! Follow my Pink Tutu blog this week - you'll be the first to see everything I discover! I will also be on Instagram all week - and do check out the Pink Tutu website at www.pink-tutu.com, where you can sign up to receive my weekly newsletter.

Catch you soon darlings. I can't wait for you to join me on all my New York adventures this week!

Until next time… twirl with a smile, Emma xoxox
