Hello my gorgeous darlings, and welcome to another glorious Monday in the #PinkTutuBlogNYC! I'm just bubbling over with excitement about this week's adventures. This week I am right in the heart of Manhattan, New York City, ready to discover everything this iconic city has to offer, all while embracing my favourite hue: pink, naturally!
It’s truly wonderful to be back in the Big Apple. It's a city that truly embodies the spirit of ‘always on the go’. The energy here is intoxicating and as soon as you step off the subway onto the streets, you are instantly drawn into the swirling vortex of possibilities. It's impossible not to feel inspired here!
This is blog post number 1051 for my #PinkTutuBlogNYC and you can always find my weekly blog post on a Monday over at www.pink-tutu.com. Remember, this time last year I was exploring the delights of Brighton, before my return to Derbyshire, so my travels have taken me right back to New York City. Now that's what I call a whirlwind adventure, and it wouldn't be the same without my faithful pink tutu - after all, it's essential to ensure you are perfectly twirling, ready to tackle whatever the week may bring!
Twirling in Times SquareLast night was an absolute whirlwind. After settling into my chic and surprisingly pink hotel room (a definite plus point for me!), I found myself waltzing down Times Square, surrounded by towering neon lights, bustling crowds and a sense of unreality that only New York City can provide. It was almost as though I had stepped onto a movie set, with a dazzling show of colours, noise, and a truly thrilling atmosphere.
As I gazed at the gigantic billboards and marveled at the vibrant energy that surrounds you at every corner, I found myself yearning for a spot of peace, so I ducked into one of the side streets, where I came across the most delightful little bistro. Over a cup of steaming tea, I watched as the sun began to set, bathing the city in a soft golden glow. It was a moment of pure bliss, a chance to soak in the magic of the city from a different angle.
It’s Fashion, Darling!
This morning was all about fashion and getting ready to head out and see some shows later today. Of course, my first stop had to be the most iconic department store in New York City – Bergdorf Goodman! A must visit when in the Big Apple! Now, who wouldn't love the sheer spectacle of an amazing array of designer clothing, shoes and jewellery under one glorious roof. This iconic store is like a haven for my inner fashionista, a paradise of gorgeous gowns and glamorous outfits.
The beautiful people there are simply radiating confidence and style. As I surveyed the colourful array of designs, I felt inspired. After all, the city is my runway and I had to embrace the energy with some fabulous new pieces!
You might not know this about me but my secret vice is to sneak into stores and have a twirl – this doesn’t happen in England so much so I do take advantage when in New York City. Of course, I did make sure to pick out some amazing accessories to complete my #PinkTutu look!
Today, I plan to explore a bit more of the vibrant streets of Manhattan, with its mix of classic elegance and contemporary trends. And of course, it’s time to catch the metro – that's what I call real underground fashion - it’s always full of fascinating, fun and eclectic people with great personal style, plus the iconic train makes getting around so easy!
A Passion for PerformingLater tonight I will be watching the exquisite Sleeping Beauty performed by the renowned New York City Ballet. I'm absolutely thrilled to have secured tickets to see the masterpiece. I can’t wait to get lost in the captivating storytelling, elegant choreography, and sheer talent of the dancers. I always feel that ballet shows have a captivating element. Watching dancers who have dedicated themselves to the artform, so elegant, so focused and moving as one. This art form simply takes my breath away, inspiring me to polish up my own dance moves and embrace the spirit of the performance!
This evening's show is a must-see, not just for its breathtaking beauty but also because it gives me the opportunity to truly absorb the incredible talent that this city nurtures. There is such a vibrant arts scene in New York City, a melting pot of creative expression from musicals and opera, to ballet and theatre performances, all bursting with energy.
However, a major highlight is definitely a performance at Radio City Music Hall – what an iconic venue, where the spectacle is guaranteed to be just as captivating as the music and dance!
As for my outfit this evening - you can expect my signature pink tutu to take centre stage with a few more stylish elements to tie it all together. It's an event, after all, and the pink tutu is a constant, my signature, that represents my own love for performance and for this amazing city, which pulsates with such joy and spirit.
#PinkTutuTravels – Keeping it realAnd finally, how is my pink tutu looking so amazing and clean after a long, hot day in a bustling city? Well, you might be surprised to know my darling, that I've found a brilliant trick – it's all about the Dry Cleaners. It's not really that magical though, more a well kept secret - it involves a lot of folding and carefully removing any stains and the odd splatter. But let’s face it, every girl needs a little help sometimes. Besides, a well-kept tutu always adds a touch of elegance, whether I’m dancing, dining or discovering New York City’s hidden treasures!
