#PinkTutuBlogNYC: Monday 2016-01-25 - Dancing in the Big Apple! ๐Ÿฉฐโœจ

Hello my dearest Tutu-Lovers!

It's Monday, and that means it's time for a brand new #PinkTutuBlogNYC post! Can you believe we're already in January 2016? Time really does fly when you're busy twirling and spreading the pink tutu love, don't you think?

This week, I'm writing to you from the vibrant, electric heart of New York City! I'm absolutely smitten with this amazing city - the energy, the lights, the incredible blend of cultures, it's like a giant stage with a captivating show running 24/7. And of course, no trip to New York would be complete without a tutu-clad exploration!

My Journey Begins...

I landed at JFK Airport last Tuesday, and let me tell you, I was immediately struck by the sheer volume of yellow taxis - they practically swarm the airport! As I caught the metro (my favourite way to travel, as you know!), I gazed out of the window and felt like I was watching a movie reel play out in front of my eyes. The skyscrapers, the bustling streets, the colourful graffiti, and of course, the people - I was absolutely mesmerised!

My apartment for this trip is a quaint, little Brooklyn flat in a quiet, leafy neighbourhood. The best part? It's a stone's throw away from Prospect Park - the most stunning park I've ever seen. Imagine Central Park, but with a hint of Victorian charm, manicured flower beds and even a lovely carousel. You could spend hours just strolling and exploring the park's beautiful pathways and meadows - I know I have!

Pink Tutu Power! New York Style!

Of course, I wouldn't be true to myself if I didn't bring my trusty pink tutus to New York. And believe me, they've been turning heads!

  • On Wednesday, I wore my glittery, pale pink tutu while strolling down 5th Avenue - it was absolutely dazzling in the afternoon sunshine. It drew a few curious stares, but also a few warm smiles and even a couple of "Go girl!" shouts from passing New Yorkers. It truly felt like a walking declaration of tutu-powered happiness.

  • On Thursday, I donned my most fabulous, fluffy, neon pink tutu for a delightful shopping spree in SoHo. I felt like I was walking through a real-life fairytale! I picked up some beautiful silk scarves for my grandma, a cheeky little pink fedora for myself, and of course, a stunning pair of cherry-red pumps!

A New York Ballet Adventure

The main reason I've flown all the way to New York City is to experience the world-famous New York City Ballet!

Yesterday, I saw the breathtaking 'Giselle' at the Lincoln Center - and let me tell you, it was a truly magical experience. From the powerful dancers, the exquisite costumes, and the exquisite sets to the soaring music, I felt transported into a realm of pure grace and beauty.

Seeing Giselle brought back memories of my childhood - when I would spend hours spinning around in my tutu in my attic, pretending I was dancing alongside the stars. New York City has a way of reawakening your dreams, you know?

And if you haven't yet experienced the wonder of New York City Ballet, then I truly urge you to grab a ticket and take the plunge! It's an experience that will stay with you forever, even if it takes your breath away!

On the Menu Today: Ballet Class, A Brooklyn Treat, and Broadway!

Today's schedule is packed with fun:

  • This morning, I'll be taking a ballet class at a charming studio in the East Village, then I'll be hopping over to a nearby bakery for a delectable lunch. I've been told to try their cinnamon rolls, which are rumoured to be divine!

  • And to top it off, this evening, I'm finally fulfilling my Broadway dream: I've got tickets to see "The Lion King"! I can't wait! This show is practically a ballet in its own right!

A Little Something About Me: A Derbyshire Girl in New York

You may be wondering, "What makes this young woman from England fall in love with New York?" It's simple really. From the time I was a little girl, dreaming of dancing professionally, New York was like a magnetic north. And after years of performances in Derbyshire, I've made my dream come true! It's truly incredible, but for me, it's about much more than just seeing a show.

I've always admired New York City's cultural dynamism, the artistic energy that bursts from every corner, the dedication to pursuing passions, and above all, it's dedication to embracing what's different and unique. You know, I've always wanted to spread pink tutu magic wherever I travel! Here in New York, it feels like that passion is truly mirrored back at me!

Iโ€™ve come so far from my little corner of Derbyshire, where I danced under the twinkle lights in the village hall, to dancing with such professional talent! And it makes me so incredibly happy! The energy of the city has helped me grow as a dancer, but more importantly, as a person!
