Pink Tutu Blog NYC: Post 1094 - Monday 2016-05-23: New York City Whirlwind

Hello, darlings!

Itā€™s Monday, so itā€™s time for another update from your favourite pink tutu-clad traveller. And, oh, what a whirlwind week Iā€™ve had in the Big Apple! This time, it was all about ballet, Broadway, and of course, shopping ā€“ a true recipe for a magical, girly week!

Letā€™s rewind to Friday, because thatā€™s when my journey started. Iā€™ve got to be honest, dear readers, the thought of another cross-Atlantic flight left me with a slight sense of dread. The last time I was on a plane, the grumpy old man in the seat next to me decided it was the perfect time to give his toe-nails a good trimā€¦ not a great way to start your holiday.

Thankfully, this time around, my journey was absolutely lovely! The skies were clear, the flight attendant offered me a delicious warm cookie, and I managed to catch up on some reading. You know, itā€™s incredible how a little slice of pink, courtesy of my new ā€œPink Tutu Travelsā€ scarf, can instantly improve your flight experience.

The Magical Ballet Met

Upon arriving in the heart of New York City, I headed straight for the grand halls of Lincoln Center. I knew this trip would be different; a little less pink and a lot more sophisticated. This was about the art, darling, the art! I was attending the world premiere of ā€œAlice's Adventures in Wonderlandā€, at The Metropolitan Opera.

And let me tell you, I was floored! The costumes were beyond anything I could have imagined. Vivid, extravagant, and so beautifully crafted, they brought the wonder of Wonderland right before my very eyes. And as for the dancing? Absolutely breathtaking. The grace and precision, the energy and emotion... it was like watching a fairytale come to life. The little ballerina in me almost jumped out of my seat!

Afterwards, the real fun began ā€“ a cocktail reception in the grand foyer, mingling with fellow dance lovers, all clad in beautiful ball gowns and velvet tuxedos. We shared stories about the performance and, of course, debated which dress was our favourite. Oh, the joys of a night at the ballet!

Pink Tutus on Broadway!

Saturday started with a little indulgence. I treated myself to a delightful brunch at "Alice's Tea Cup" (not at all coincidentally, of course, after last night's magical evening). You wouldn't believe how many charming details they had on display - Alice in Wonderland books, delicate china teacups, and even a vintage record player! I left feeling thoroughly charmed and well-caffeinated.

Feeling inspired, I set my sights on a Broadway show. This time, it was "Beautiful: The Carole King Musical" ā€“ the story of the amazing songwriter behind hit songs like ā€œIt's Too Lateā€ and ā€œYouā€™ve Got A Friend.ā€ The whole production was a powerhouse of energy, and I couldnā€™t help but tap my feet and sing along with some of my all-time favourites.

Later, as I walked past Times Square, I was struck by a curious sight. A group of dancers, wearing the most extraordinary costumes: shimmering gold and blue, shimmering sequins, sparkling like jewels. They were performing in the street, their movements echoing the vibrant, bold spirit of New York. And as they danced, they werenā€™t just putting on a show; they were spreading a sense of joy, laughter, and pure energy! I knew right then and there - a flash mob in pink tutus would be the ultimate New York City experience.

Pink and Parisian

Sunday morning found me exploring the delightful Upper East Side, a world away from the dazzling lights and frenetic energy of Times Square. My mission: to find the perfect pink accessory. And my dear friends, did I succeed! At the most charming boutique called "Le Bon Ton," I stumbled upon the most magnificent Parisian scarf, in a delicate blush pink. It featured tiny pink flamingoes against a sky blue background and, my darlings, it is pure perfection!

My newfound Parisian treasure inspired me to seek out some French fashion, so naturally, I hopped on the Metro (what a marvel, this underground railway!) and headed straight for "HermĆØs," the epitome of luxurious French style. I can't resist their sleek and timeless designs, their dedication to impeccable craftsmanship. And, thankfully, this trip, there was a wonderful pink handbag (a small, stylish number with intricate leatherwork and delicate detailing). Of course, I couldn't resist a new blush pink silk scarf as well. (I simply canā€™t have enough pink!)

That evening, I discovered a delightful Parisian restaurant near Central Park called "Chez Suzette". As I nibbled on a delicate pastry and sipped a perfectly crafted cup of tea, I couldn't help but feel completely at ease. Paris was, as always, whispering tales of elegance and chic, just around the corner.

Shopping and a Dance Class

Today, the day after a glorious whirlwind of Parisian dreams and New York City sparkle, I find myself preparing for another adventure: a ballet class in the heart of Manhattan. And, believe it or not, this will be my first-ever class in the city that never sleeps!

But before I jump into a world of pliƩs and pirouettes, a bit of shopping, darling, is an absolute necessity. The streets of New York City, with their countless shops, always call out to my fashion-loving soul.

The other day, I ventured into SoHo, that bohemian haven of art, design, and, yes, of course, fashion! I must say, I'm totally enamored with the trend towards vintage chic here, a refreshing take on classic styles, infused with personality. And as I wandered past rows of boutiques, vintage clothing stores, and antique shops, I noticed somethingā€¦ there was a quiet elegance, a understated beauty in the vintage dresses and accessories, reminding me that sometimes the most exquisite items are the ones with a little history, a little personality.

My hunt for the perfect pink-inspired piece lead me to a quaint little shop called ā€œVintage Darling.ā€ Tucked away in a hidden alley, the place was a treasure trove of vintage treasures. I fell in love with a beautiful vintage silk scarf. The most amazing thing? It had gorgeous hand-painted pink and cream lilies woven in silky threads. You wouldn't believe what I found for a steal. I think this scarf is destined to become my new lucky charm! (A tiny detail for your pink tutu enthusiast's closet. It's all about finding hidden gems!)

As I stepped into the shop and was surrounded by racks filled with unique dresses and jackets, vintage hats, and perfectly crafted purses, I realised something about vintage shopping ā€“ it's not just about finding stylish pieces; it's about finding a piece of history, a story within a single thread or a beautifully crafted buckle. And for me, dear readers, it's a little pink escape, a moment to indulge in a little vintage glamour, something that sparks joy and inspires my very own fashion sense!

Finding Balance: Pink Tutus and Real Life

And so, the day has arrived for my Manhattan ballet class! It's an opportunity to embrace the elegance, grace, and sheer power of ballet in the very heart of New York City. It's the chance to tap into the deep connection I feel with the art form, a connection that transcends the world of pink tutus and sequins, reminding me of the beauty of movement, the expression of emotion, and the endless possibilities of human imagination.

The week has been a mix of glamour and art, Parisian chic and vintage treasures. It has been an exploration of style, of finding my own path and, in the end, of embracing my own unique interpretation of fashion. I never realised how my love for pink, my passion for tutus, would open so many doors for me, introduce me to so many wonderful experiences.

Now, with a fresh, pink-tinged perspective, I'll continue to seek out those perfect details, discovering new ways to incorporate my favourite shade, my beloved tutus, into everything I do.

It's a commitment to pink, a quest for style, and an everlasting celebration of fashion.

Join me next Monday, as I dive deeper into the magic of New York City and explore the city's latest pink wonders! And don't forget, my dearest readers, to always embrace your inner ballerina, wear your own special version of pink, and twirl your way into every day, with a joyful, pink-tinted heart!

Until next week!
