Pink Tutu Blog NYC: #1096 - New York City: Dancing Dreams and Pink Delights!

Hello my darling tutu-twirlers!

It's Monday again, and I'm back with another post from the Big Apple. This time, New York is pulsating with a special energy! It's the first week of June and I'm feeling so invigorated, buzzing, like I could dance the day away (and maybe night too)! There is something truly magical about New York in the summer. And as always, I’m loving the way I feel being immersed in the heart of this fashion and cultural whirlwind!

I arrived on Friday, after a successful week of performing “Swan Lake” in a small but lovely town in Derbyshire, England (did I tell you about the absolutely darling baker on the corner who makes the most heavenly fruit tarts? It really fuelled me for my final performance. So decadent, I felt like a princess!).

As soon as my ballet shoes were out of their travel case, and I was whisked from the airport into the magical neon lights and vibrant energy of New York, I knew this would be a tutu-tastic adventure!

My heart has been skipping a beat for New York since I was little, so every time I come back, it feels like being enveloped by a warm embrace.

Speaking of embracing, I've been wearing my favourite pink tutu ever since I arrived, as it felt like the most perfect thing for New York! Every time I twirl, it feels like I'm making the entire city feel that bit brighter. You know what? It seems like everyone is wearing pink, so maybe this year New York's becoming as pink obsessed as I am! And believe me, the world would be a better place if everyone took to the streets with their own unique version of a pink tutu.

Let's dive into all the pink-filled excitement this week:

Fashion!
Since we are in New York, I simply had to go shopping! My darling sister Sarah (who also shares my obsession with tutus, and looks absolutely heavenly in them!) is here for a week, so she was the perfect shopping buddy! I was looking for that quintessential piece to make this New York visit really special. The moment I stepped into "Bloom & Bloom", this vibrant floral print silk maxi dress screamed "New York City!". It had a ruffled neckline that felt absolutely beautiful. The most perfect, flattering, soft blush pink. I felt so elegant when I tried it on! You’ve already seen this on my Instagram, of course! I’ll post the pics again on my page later.

We went on a fashion expedition, from chic boutiques to vintage gems in Soho, to Fifth Avenue with its towering landmarks and bustling energy. I love the vibrant mix of styles in New York - there’s a unique blend of effortless elegance and playful trendiness. I snagged an oversized floppy hat with a cute ribbon in a shade of pink that perfectly complemented my dress. It was the ideal hat to go with my fabulous new dress!
Sarah said, “It suits you to a tee, Em.” She does have a talent for spotting amazing finds.

We had a divine afternoon tea at this beautiful place overlooking the park with some delicious pastel-coloured cakes! They were truly dreamy!

I love how much I've already seen of the city and I'm excited for all the adventures we have ahead of us!

On stage and street corners!

After a delicious morning at The Gallery Bar in Soho - my favourite cafe - and a visit to The Public Theater (the best theatre space - did you know this theatre actually has a history of presenting great plays!), I hit the ground running with my performance at The Lincoln Center, just after we arrived in New York. I did "Giselle" (you all know my love for the classics!). What a beautiful way to spend my Friday night. Even the subway ride back felt electric after that performance! We found ourselves chatting to a woman dressed in her ballet shoes. Apparently, she's an avid dancer who was just about to head to an open class in her local area. It was great chatting to her and inspiring each other!

We went to a wonderful open air ballet class in Central Park yesterday, and then on a whimsically exciting evening with street dancers near Washington Square. I really love those small-scale, vibrant dance scenes in the heart of the city! Just think – tutu or no tutu, we’re all dancing on our own journey, through life!

Sunday - Brooklyn Dreamland Yesterday, Sarah and I were delighted to explore the Brooklyn Bridge, which seemed like a real life movie set with so much history, such great photo opportunities, and a breathtaking vista over the whole of Manhattan! It felt like I could see forever! From there we wandered to DUMBO. We discovered the most adorable vintage bookstore, it had some real hidden gems, and later, we spent a while watching street musicians play near the cobbled streets. Brooklyn had such a lovely, artsy, alternative vibe, which reminded me of a little village back in Derbyshire where I used to love spending time in. I just love getting away from the bustling, busy energy of Manhattan.

Later on, we enjoyed some divine waffles from one of those beautiful red truck food vendors. My favorite waffles are the fluffy kind with a good amount of syrupy sweetness, and let me tell you, this one didn’t disappoint! There’s a waffle truck just by the Empire State building I recommend trying if you visit the city.

A Pink Tutu in New York!

The joy of a pink tutu isn't about blending in. It's about celebrating individuality, making a statement and feeling magical and confident. In New York, everyone embraces a style all their own, so why not add some twirling fun and colour to the city? I know it feels like New York already bursts with colour but a splash of pink really brings an added sprinkle of magic! It makes the already amazing New York scene so much more delightful, playful and simply bursting with joy! Think how magical a world it would be if everyone wore a tutu! Wouldn't that just be the best?

New York - a place where dreams are made, fashion takes a twist and dance fills the air! Oh, and just a tiny detail? There are delicious cinnamon rolls everywhere!

It's time for me to get ready for another day in the beautiful pink-tastic New York, I'm ready for all the adventures we’re going to have today! Until next Monday! Have a wonderful week my darlings!

Xoxo! Emma
