Post #1109: Tutu-ing Around New York City

Hello, darling! Welcome back to another fabulous Monday here in New York City! This week I'm feeling super inspired by the whirlwind of colour and culture swirling all around me. My tutu is twirling in delight, just like my heart! I'm starting to feel quite at home here, even though this is only my fourth trip to the Big Apple.

And who knew New York City could be so tutu-licious? Seriously, I can't believe how many amazing tutu moments I've encountered in this incredible city. From seeing a whole group of little girls doing pirouettes outside Radio City Music Hall, to spotting a cheeky little pink tutu tucked into the window display at Saks Fifth Avenue, I'm convinced this city just gets me!

Now, I can't spill all the beans just yet – you'll have to stay tuned for all the details! But I can promise you that this week has been filled with fabulous dance performances, exquisite shopping expeditions, and plenty of that iconic New York City energy that leaves me breathless.

This Week's Adventures:

This week has been a real treat, darlings. As a ballerina at heart, my soul felt a surge of pure joy as I saw the incredible “Swan Lake” performed at the Lincoln Center. The costumes, the dancers, the whole spectacle! I simply couldn’t have asked for a more spectacular performance to kick off the week. And my own pink tutu definitely stood out amidst the classic white tulle of the Swan Queen – I may have received a few sideways glances, but I took it as a sign that I was adding a touch of playful pink to a world of pristine white!

After that, I had to hit the shops, of course! A visit to New York City is never complete without a spot of retail therapy. This time, I landed in the fabulous SoHo district and let me tell you, my bank account was singing opera. I’m going to be living in this glorious scarlet silk dress for the rest of the week! Plus, I found the most adorable pair of black and pink ballet flats – just my style. And, of course, I couldn’t leave without a new tutu, just for the occasion. A gorgeous, fluffy lilac number – simply divine!

Now, I have to share with you the absolute highlight of the week: I attended an utterly fabulous, sassy ballet show on Broadway. Seriously, my darling, this show was out of this world! Imagine all the glamor and energy of Broadway with the grace and beauty of classical ballet – pure magic, I tell you! And the best part? There were a handful of beautiful dancers sporting bright pink tutus just like me! Imagine the excitement – I almost screamed in glee. I can't reveal too much, as I don’t want to spoil the surprise. But let's just say this show had everything you could wish for: a playful storyline, impressive technical skill, gorgeous costumes, and even a surprise guest appearance – I mean, really, who could ask for more?

After that, of course, a bit of "post-performance" fun. Imagine my surprise and utter delight when I discovered this charming little tea room tucked away on a side street, serving up dainty finger sandwiches and delicate cakes! I sipped my tea and admired the elegant china while trying on my new ballet flats – absolutely perfect for a day of Parisian elegance, even if I was actually in New York!

Why I Love New York

Oh, darlings, this city never fails to inspire me. The energy, the sights, the people! And, of course, the amazing shopping and incredible dance performances make it my favourite city in the whole wide world! New York is always on the go, always exciting, always a feast for the senses.

For me, it’s like walking through a dream! The city is brimming with stories waiting to be told, a world of exciting experiences waiting to be explored. The way everyone dances down the street – even if it’s just their foot tapping to a song they’re listening to – it’s like New York is always in a ballet, moving to its own rhythm.

And speaking of ballet…

Let's talk about this wonderful dance that has so generously provided the fuel for my travels. Ballet is truly an art form that brings together so many aspects of life. It's grace, beauty, artistry, physicality, and music. It’s an incredibly demanding discipline, a passion I carry in my heart wherever I go. And while I've been lucky to perform at various venues in Derbyshire, London and even some in Europe, my goal is to take the world by storm, tutu by tutu. It's not just about the dancing – it's about inspiring others, about encouraging self-expression and embracing creativity. It's about spreading the love of ballet and its wonderful world!

Oh, the Memories!

But enough about me, my lovelies. Let’s focus on YOU for a moment, yes you! What are you doing to embrace the spirit of the tutu, I wonder? Tell me all about it! Share your stories of how you’ve embraced the spirit of the pink tutu in your own life – whether it's a flash of pink lipstick or a pink cupcake, let me hear it! I love reading about how you, my darlings, are expressing yourselves in your own unique way. I can't wait to hear from you!

And, my dear readers, do stay tuned for next week’s blog post! We'll be diving headfirst into the thrilling world of fashion! From the glamorous gowns at the Metropolitan Museum of Art to the stylish street trends spotted in Central Park, I'm going to spill all the secrets! So stay tuned and, as always, don't forget to embrace your inner ballerina!

Much love and twirls,

Emma xxx
