Pink Tutu Blog: NYC, Monday 9th January 2017 - Post #1127
Good morning, darlings! I hope you all had a lovely weekend! Mine was utterly fabulous. You know, here in New York City, it feels like every day is a weekend - so much to see, so much to do, and so much to wear!
Now, let's be honest, my life wouldn't be the same without a bit of pink in it, and a whole lot of tutu! But I’m not just talking about the ballet kind, though I do love a good ballet show. My favourite kind of tutu, you see, is one you can wear around town, feeling fabulous!
NYC Adventures in Pink & Tutu
Today's blog is dedicated to my recent whirlwind journey through this concrete jungle. Oh, my dears, the sheer variety of this city never ceases to amaze me! I can’t get enough of it. It’s so much fun exploring new places and soaking up the sights. You see, you never know who or what you're going to bump into in New York.
It was a glorious morning when I arrived. The sun was shining, and the city seemed to be humming with excitement. I quickly hopped onto the subway – oh, my love for the metro never diminishes! It's such a magical experience in New York - full of colourful characters, bustling life, and hidden treasures just waiting to be discovered.
First stop, Central Park. It was a bit chilly, so I donned my adorable little pink cable knit cardigan over my pale pink tutu, paired with my favourite fluffy, pastel pink bomber jacket. You see, I firmly believe that you can wear your tutu anywhere! (If I can manage to rock it, you certainly can, my lovelies!). As I strolled around the park, I took a deep breath of that fresh air (which is a welcome change from London's busy, grey streets), and soaked in the sights. The energy was truly contagious! It was like watching a dance on repeat - a vibrant spectacle of life, love and laughter.
Taking the Metro - The Ballet of New York City
But of course, I had to keep on the move. The subway is the ultimate place to observe the incredible people that live in this city - and let’s face it, the hustle and bustle is almost like a ballet itself! It’s a graceful symphony of movement and rhythm - even with all those pushy commuters, you’d be surprised. I was mesmerized!
After my park promenade, I made my way downtown to one of my favourite stores, Boulanger! Oh, what a dreamland of clothes it is. You can almost smell the silk from the street. It’s my happy place - an explosion of textures, colours, and incredible fashion finds. Of course, I couldn't leave without adding a beautiful, fluffy lavender sweater to my wardrobe - a delightful pop of colour and softness to match my ballerina charm! I just love discovering unique boutiques with gorgeous fabrics and exquisite designs. There’s always a bit of Parisian chic lurking within this American city!
A Day in the Theatre
And the evening held something quite special: the Broadway debut of the exquisite dancer, Jean-Luc Duvall. My heart skipped a beat when I entered the theatre! Everything shimmered - a captivating wave of sparkling light. The velvet seats, the anticipation hanging in the air, and the hushed murmur of the audience. I love this part, the prelude to a show, a dance of its own.
Then the music began, and everything faded away as I was transported to a world of grace and elegance. The storytelling in ballet, with just a movement or gesture, can be more profound than any spoken word! The sheer artistry was breathtaking – Duvall’s dance moved my very soul.
Evening Glamour in Pink
Afterwards, a few friends and I took a celebratory stroll through Times Square. The billboards glowed like a constellation of light and colours, it's almost impossible to capture it all. It was almost time to change out of my pink tutu for the evening, so I headed home to swap out my pastel ballerina outfit. This time, I went with a stunning dark pink cocktail dress that fit like a dream, adorned with delicate floral embellishments. You see, I believe in adapting to the setting. It's not about fitting in, it's about adding a touch of magic!
And that, my dear blog readers, is the essence of life in New York City: it's about finding the sparkle in every day and adding a touch of pink and tutu to every adventure! It's about never letting go of that childlike wonder, that passion for life and expression. So go on, wear a pink tutu to that coffee shop or your next art exhibition! It's time to embrace the pink and tutu life, darlings! You might just inspire the whole city to do the same!
Stay pink, and keep twirling,
Emma
