Pink Tutu Blog NYC: #1136 - Twirling Through The Big Apple

Hello lovelies! It's Emma here, back from another whirlwind week in the Big Apple! It's been absolutely jam-packed with ballet, fashion, and some pretty incredible sights - not to mention enough pink tulle to satisfy even the most fervent tutu enthusiast! I'm already buzzing with excitement for next week, but for now, let's dive into the magic of this past seven days.

From Derbyshire to New York City: As you all know, this Derbyshire girl's passion for dance knows no bounds. I can’t remember when my obsession with ballet started, but I've been obsessed with it since forever! I'd twirl around in a homemade tutu every chance I got, and dreams of New York City - the mecca of the performing arts - have been a constant.

Funding my dreams with the magic of ballet, it’s truly a gift to be here. Performing in different cities, sharing my passion and the magic of ballet with others, allows me to pursue this dream life. Each time I visit New York City, it just feels like a big happy dance party in my pink tutu, with everyone joining in.

The Ballet Magic of The City That Never Sleeps:

Monday always means heading to the heart of the city, the pulsing hub that is Times Square. Stepping out of the Metro Station and being greeted by those glittering screens – that's New York City in all its glory!

This week I went to a mind-blowing performance at the New York City Ballet, which I absolutely loved. They are simply outstanding - the choreography was divine, the dancers moved like ethereal beings. And I always find the costumes in a ballet spectacular, from shimmering sequins to exquisite silks - just breathtaking. It's like a magical world unfolds right before my eyes!

But this week, it wasn’t just the big names I loved! This time I treated myself to an immersive, raw and exciting, ballet theatre performance of "A Midsummer Night's Dream," down by the East River, which had my heart pounding. It's these little gems, hidden in back alleys and off-beat spaces, that make New York City so special. It's the energy, the passion, and the sheer dedication these artists bring to their craft. I could have easily watched them for hours - those raw, talented, performers really brought Shakespeare’s classic play to life!

And of course, no trip to New York would be complete without visiting the ballet classes at the prestigious School of American Ballet. To watch those young dancers hone their skills, to be surrounded by their pure joy and unwavering passion, it’s such an inspiration! I love the feeling of connection these shared experiences bring, of seeing people who are dedicated to this craft - it makes me want to twirl even faster!

Fashion Adventures & Pink Tutu Therapy

New York City, a fashion mecca for sure. What a vibrant, pulsating energy this city has, filled with an incredible array of unique individuals all embracing their own personal style! My camera’s been clicking overtime capturing the creativity flowing through this urban canvas. And of course, I had to share my pink tutu magic with the city!

Now, I love a good browse around the shops. My top spot, you can find my blog posts filled with stories about this legendary shopping haven, the world-famous Fifth Avenue. This week I even picked up the most gorgeous satin dress at a charming boutique tucked away on a little street called Bleecker.

But my pink tutu wardrobe didn’t just receive an injection of glittery gowns and elegant designs. This time, it was all about fun, flirty accessories! I snagged a pair of glittery feather headbands and an absolutely fabulous, crystal-encrusted pair of ballet pumps at a tiny little vintage shop off of East 11th Street. Perfect for adding a touch of whimsical glam to my everyday attire.

Food, Shopping, and Central Park Adventures:

What is New York without the street food? On Wednesday, I enjoyed an amazing brunch in a cosy, colourful little diner right on Canal Street - you can't visit NYC without trying their New York-style Bagels, and their Bloody Marys were pretty epic, too!

Thursday I took a beautiful walk in Central Park. Even with its busy, fast paced, life-in-the-fast-lane vibe, it is a true oasis. There’s a beautiful sense of peace amongst all that urban energy, you can really feel the nature. And just so you know, the green backdrop of Central Park made my pink tutu photographs spectacular.

Back to The Empire State and Reflections:

Sunday morning, coffee in hand and camera by my side, I headed up the Empire State Building. You simply can't visit NYC without a view from its iconic building! Those 360-degree views just blew my mind! And I snapped the most adorable pictures in my pink tutu against the panoramic vista, reminding myself to ‘Never Stop Twirling.’ I couldn’t help feeling inspired, as if the world was at my feet!

As I said goodbye to the dazzling skyline and reflected on the week, I felt a renewed sense of gratitude and joy. This week in the Big Apple was filled with so much happiness and energy that it left me buzzing. Seeing world-class dancers performing on stage, discovering talented artists in hidden corners, finding a stunning dress on Bleecker Street, those beautiful moments remind me to live in the moment. And as I twirled through Central Park, I realized, once again, that New York City always ignites something special within me!

Until next time, New York!

Lots of love,

Emma xoxo

Postscript: My Inspiration and The Pink Tutu Mission!

Of course, a pink tutu blogger needs to tell you about the inspiration behind my pink tutu adventures. You see, a pink tutu has always represented joy and freedom. A pink tutu is about celebrating who we are and loving ourselves for who we are. My journey to New York was inspired by some of the world's best-loved ballets – ‘Swan Lake’, ‘Giselle’, and ‘Sleeping Beauty’, to name a few! The colours, the stories, the creativity! It’s all so incredibly inspiring! And what's the best way to share this joy than through the world’s most magical accessory? That's why I made it my personal mission to encourage everyone to wear pink tutus and find the freedom and magic that comes with it!

I believe that a pink tutu has the power to change your outlook and make you feel happy, beautiful, and free. And let’s be honest, every woman deserves to feel like a ballerina! We should embrace all the colours of life! And there is no colour brighter, more beautiful and more elegant than the colour of joy and femininity - Pink!

So don't just dream, don't just twirl in your mind – join the pink tutu revolution! Every woman should experience the liberating and joyful magic of the pink tutu.

Until next week! Keep Twirling, Everyone!
