Hello, darlings! It’s Emma, back from another whirlwind trip to the Big Apple, where, as you might have guessed, I did some dancing (a lot!), some shopping (always!), and a whole lot of sightseeing in my favourite shade of pink, of course.
It’s been a while since I last graced the streets of New York with my tutu-clad presence, and I must say, the city always welcomes me back with open arms – and a generous helping of those delightful Broadway billboards that make me feel like I’m right in the middle of a show!
This time around, I’ve had the most wonderful adventures – from twirling around in the most incredible dance studio I’ve ever set foot in, to watching some breathtaking ballet performances that left me speechless, to even squeezing in a few hours of window shopping that sent my heart into overdrive. It was pure magical chaos, and I wouldn't have it any other way!
Before we dive into the pink-tastic details, I must share the amazing opportunity I had to perform at the charming Carnegie Hall, nestled in the heart of the city. My dancing allowed me to indulge my wanderlust, so I’m always thrilled when I can earn enough to afford these trips, each time a dream realised! It was such a joy to dance amongst such brilliant artists and feel the warmth of the audience. It really solidified that pink is the most perfect shade to showcase my love of dancing and everything fabulous.
A Tutu-tastic Dance Studio Adventure
One of my favourite memories of this trip has to be my experience at the Dance New Amsterdam, tucked away on a charming street downtown. This gem of a studio, all vintage wood floors and beautifully dappled light, is the most inspiring place to move, a sanctuary for creatives with an air of genuine magic. They’re passionate about giving back, so they have amazing programs that open the doors to dance to the wider community, which I adore.
It’s a true ballet haven, overflowing with creative energy, a feeling that is simply contagious. It’s so refreshing to be amongst others who truly understand the magic that can unfold when you just let loose and express yourself through dance.
While I was there, I treated myself to a couple of workshops and, of course, I couldn’t resist donning my new, custom-made pink tutu for the occasion. My heart almost burst with joy! It felt incredible to be back in class, swirling around those wooden floors, soaking in all the joy that the dance studio had to offer. It’s like home away from home.
The studio itself was pure inspiration, and I spent what felt like an eternity just gazing at the posters, admiring the artistry and creativity of the dancers who’d been lucky enough to grace these very same floors. Just being in such an amazing place, surrounded by other passionate individuals, fueled my inspiration and reminded me of why I do what I do.
And let's talk about my newest addition - this blush-pink, feathery, and extra-fluffy tutu that I brought along. You know how much I adore my tutus! This one just calls for pirouettes in every single store! And what a statement piece it made.
Broadway Under The Stars
While I adore ballet classes, I also wanted to catch a show or two on Broadway. And honestly, when else could I get the chance to watch dazzling theatrical performances and catch up with my darling friends? And who better to explore the streets of New York with than fellow dance enthusiasts, who love pink just as much as I do?
March 20th - New York City Fashion Fun!
This Monday, I enjoyed seeing a beautiful performance of 'Carousel,' a classic musical that had me mesmerised from start to finish! I was absolutely blown away by the choreography and the breathtaking set design. The energy of the theatre was electrifying, and the entire performance was simply magic. I left feeling so uplifted and inspired!
And for a little bit of added fun, my dear friends took me to the iconic "Fiddler on the Roof" exhibit at the Museum of the City of New York. I got to take in the original costumes, learn about the show's fascinating history, and feel the vibrant spirit of a legendary play! It was truly enchanting!
This city is a dream, a haven for theatre and dance lovers alike. Everywhere you turn, you find yourself swept away by the incredible artistic talents on display, and there’s something truly unique about the excitement that the city holds.
After all this fabulous theatre, it was only right to have a touch of pink glamour! We ventured into one of New York City's most stylish areas, and I just couldn't help myself - the designer boutiques beckoned me! Who can resist a gorgeous new pair of pink heels or an exquisitely crafted cashmere scarf? It’s hard to imagine how you could ever live in New York without a few splurges now and then!
After all the shopping and dancing, we ended our night on a perfect note – an ice cream treat that was truly divine. Of course, we had to order it in a pink cup, just to bring the night’s colour scheme to a fitting close.
Fashion-Forward Subway Travels
It wouldn’t be a trip to New York City without hopping on the iconic metro, an integral part of the city's pulsating rhythm. It was truly magical to zoom through those colourful underground tunnels and see a side of New York that's unique and bustling!
While the thought of wearing a tutu on public transportation may seem unconventional, I knew it would be my signature touch for this journey. The other commuters loved it! I loved seeing the curious stares and smiles of those who witnessed my pink fashion extravaganza! My mission: convince everyone to don a pink tutu - one sparkly, swirling twirl at a time!
You know me - I can’t go anywhere without some touch of glamour and a healthy dose of pink! It makes every single trip extra special! I have this feeling the tutu I’m sporting, which has the cutest pink bow right above the knee, will become a much-loved staple for my New York excursions!
