#PinkTutuBlogNYC - Post 1154 - Monday 17th July, 2017 - She Danced in New York City

Hello darlings! It's Monday morning and you know what that means... time for another exciting post from your favourite pink-tutu-clad adventurer! I'm Emma, and I'm currently twirling my way through the vibrant streets of New York City, and trust me, it's a whole lot of fun!

Today, my lovely readers, we're talking about a weekend of dreams - full of tutus, theatre, and more than a touch of New York magic! I landed here on Thursday afternoon, ready to dive into the city's exhilarating atmosphere. Let me tell you, New Yorkers are incredibly friendly and full of energy, making it impossible not to feel a bit of their contagious enthusiasm!

My trusty pink suitcase (always filled with my favourite twirling-ready outfits, of course!) was promptly whisked away to the most charming boutique hotel in the heart of Greenwich Village, just a hop, skip, and a twirl away from the metro station. The minute I set foot in my room, it was clear this place was made for a ballet-loving fashionista like me: beautiful vintage furniture, shimmering lights, and the softest rose-coloured duvet I'd ever encountered. It felt like a scene straight out of a fairytale!

Now, I'm not one to keep a pink tutu under wraps for long, so once I'd unpacked my ballet bag (another indispensable piece of luggage!) and settled into the charming hotel, I was out exploring!

Thursday evening found me in the buzzing heart of Times Square, a truly spectacular sight. Neon lights were flashing in a kaleidoscope of colour, music pulsed through the air, and the energy of the city throbbed all around. It's impossible not to be captivated by this electrifying energy! But don't be fooled by its chaotic appearance. This neighbourhood was surprisingly friendly and approachable. The vibrant energy had a magical, joyful energy that really drew me in.

Friday morning was all about dance. I'd spotted a small, independent dance studio, "Dance Haven" just a few streets over, and was determined to experience the city's renowned ballet scene for myself. Tucked away on a quiet street, it had a classic ballet studio feel with the sun shining through tall windows, a mirror-lined wall, and, naturally, a trusty old-school barre. I popped into the beginnersā€™ class for a quick stretch and a bit of practice - the kind of exercise you can do in any city. What an amazing way to start the day! I could have stayed and danced all day!

Then came the ultimate New York experience - seeing a performance at the Metropolitan Opera House, also known as The Met. And let me tell you, this was one performance that took my breath away! I opted for an evening production of ā€œCarmenā€ - what a classic!

I always adore experiencing the thrill of watching opera, but this production was truly unique. The singers, each a superstar in their own right, were phenomenal, and the intricate, emotion-laden storytelling left me spellbound. Even better, as the show concluded, the enchanting scene was bathed in the soft pink light of the setting sun - a truly magical moment, and perfect for a pink tutu enthusiast like myself.

I also, of course, made a beeline for the iconic, iconic Met Opera House, just a quick metro trip from my charming little hotel. If you're ever in New York, it's definitely worth a visit, even if you're not seeing a show, just to take a wander around and soak up the impressive architecture.

Of course, any trip to New York City is incomplete without some serious retail therapy. And where better to indulge in a spot of fashion-fueled fun than on Fifth Avenue? Iā€™ve had such a good time going to some seriously chic boutiques! A special shout out to the amazing vintage dress shop tucked away in a small side street on Fifth Avenue that has more beautiful garments than you could shake a pink tutu at!

There were a few too many irresistible pieces to leave behind! So letā€™s just say my wardrobe has been given a rather dramatic upgradeā€¦ I may or may not have gone slightly overboard with a vintage silk top, some beautiful shoes, and a beautiful silk dress I couldnā€™t resist, it just felt like I was supposed to bring it home with me. All of them are in glorious pinks and reds! It's definitely going to take me some serious suitcase juggling to get everything home, but I canā€™t resist. I'm just one of those girls.

For a real taste of authentic New York street food, I had to make my way to one of those famous hotdog stalls on 57th Street, so typical New York, with its glistening chrome and rows of steaming hotdogs and juicy, perfectly plump sausage. A New York hotdog, as they say, has its own, special unique, special character! You really have to try it for yourselves if you haven't already, but remember to use ketchup, mustard, and all the other delicious New York trimmings to enjoy the true taste of a New York hotdog, in all its glory!

But this city has more to offer than just bustling avenues and world-famous eats! For a slice of real New York history, I journeyed across Brooklyn Bridge, an architectural masterpiece and a true symbol of New Yorkā€™s spirit! It was pretty breathtaking.

I took a long, meandering stroll along its cobblestone streets. They had beautiful old buildings. They gave off a genuine, romantic, old world charm! Iā€™d like to say that thereā€™s so much more Iā€™d like to share, about my wanderlust adventure through New York. This place has such a lovely vibe to it! I could spend a whole year just exploring itā€™s many little streets! And the food scene alone is just as impressive - from delicious pizzas to melt-in-your-mouth pastries.

What can I say? New York City really has captured my heart. The city has a captivating spirit, an unmatched vibrancy, and of course, those delicious fashion moments - it truly makes it a magical place. Every step I take in this city is an adventure! I think I have become slightly addicted to taking a little wander and seeing where my pink tutu and I will end up next, this truly is a city full of endless possibilities!

Of course, no New York adventure would be complete without the chance to do a little dancing, and what better way to conclude my trip than with an enchanting performance in the heart of the theatre district?

Last night, I took part in a special showcase - "Dance into the Light" in Times Square, an enchanting, heart-warming event in aid of a childrenā€™s charity. And guess what?! Of course I wore my special pink tutu - It wouldnā€™t have felt right any other way, would it?!

As we began, with the backdrop of glittering billboards, my heart thumped with excitement as hundreds of us, from amateur dancers to professionals, performed ballet routines to a wonderful blend of modern and classical music, and we drew in a cheering crowd who were dazzled by our passion and talent! It really is so moving to think that every performance makes a difference to the lives of young people. It is the best feeling to be able to share the beauty and grace of ballet while bringing joy and inspiration to others.

There is something utterly heartwarming about connecting with so many like-minded individuals from all different backgrounds, all united by their shared love for ballet. The entire experience truly was a perfect way to end my trip!

Whatā€™s next, you ask? Well, as I'm sure you can tell, I had a truly enchanting time! This magical city really makes you want to grab your pink tutu and jump into the unknown! So, you can expect even more exciting adventures from #PinkTutuBlogNYC. But next week, itā€™s time to head back to the bustling Derbyshire, where I can tell you the next big fashion event is... well, a bit of a surpriseā€¦

Until next week, Iā€™m off to pack up my pink tutu - it's time to hit the road and embrace all the delights that lie ahead. See you all soon.
