Oh, darling! It's Monday, which means it's time for a little #PinkTutuBlogNYC! Can you believe it's already July?! It feels like summer just started, and I'm already plotting my next big adventure. Speaking of adventures, this weekend I got to spend time in the most fabulous city in the world, the one and only New York City! 🗽

As you all know, my dream is to bring the magic of the tutu to every corner of the globe, and there's no better place to do it than here in New York. The energy, the vibrancy, the sheer awe-inspiring energy…it’s infectious! The city is brimming with creative talent, from the fashion houses on Fifth Avenue to the amazing ballet dancers at the New York City Ballet. The energy is positively buzzing! ✨

This weekend was all about embracing the unique beauty of New York. From waltzing through Central Park to exploring the cobblestone streets of Greenwich Village, I had a truly unforgettable time. And of course, every outfit had a touch of pink, a splash of sparkle, and a little bit of tutu magic!

The Metro Magic of Pink

Right, you know I'm a big fan of travelling by metro, especially when I'm on tour. It's like a hidden world, brimming with unique stories and a little touch of chaos. I absolutely loved whizzing through the city’s veins, spotting stylish New Yorkers, listening to their stories, and witnessing the everyday magic of this phenomenal city! It really made me think about how we can inject a little bit of colour and excitement into our daily commutes – perhaps a splash of pink here, a dash of tutu there! It’s all about owning your own personal style, don’t you think? 💕

Broadway and Ballet - My Perfect New York Duo

For me, there's nothing quite like experiencing a Broadway show after a day of dancing at the barre. The energy of Broadway is simply phenomenal. It’s alive with life! It’s full of people, lights, music, costumes, and just this wonderful vibrancy and buzz. And after all, what’s New York without a little Broadway magic? 💖

I had the pleasure of seeing “Chicago” this weekend, which had all the classic sass and glitz you’d expect. I have to say the cast had some incredible costumes – some fabulously glittery and feathered dresses. I’m pretty sure I caught myself admiring one or two, perhaps a tad too long, whispers.

I spent my other evenings at the barre at the New York City Ballet’s gorgeous studios in Lincoln Center. Can I just say, you simply must see this beautiful space – it is literally the home of the stars of ballet. And I was just an everyday dancer from Derbyshire, taking class, experiencing the sheer energy of these talented professionals. It's an incredible feeling. I had such a wonderful time learning from the inspiring instructors. I've come home feeling completely invigorated and ready to share that love of ballet with all of you.

The Style Finds Of NYC

My dear readers, you know I’m a complete fashion fiend. So naturally, a trip to New York wouldn’t be complete without a little retail therapy, or, let’s call it “a little research”, shall we? 😄

Let’s just say I found a few pieces in Saks Fifth Avenue that just might have found their way into my suitcase… It’s just about being practical, right? A ballet dancer has to have a few backup pairs of pointes for performances! 😂

I fell head over heels for the chic and sleek designs I found in a lovely little boutique tucked away on a cobbled street in Greenwich Village. The shop owner, a fabulously talented vintage-loving fashionista, had a brilliant eye for style.

I bought a darling little top - perfect for dancing on those summer evenings! I love the soft shades of pink and lavender and the subtle glittery embellishments, absolutely ideal! It’s all about subtle sparkle and luxurious fabrics, right?!

But really, New York is a style wonderland – from the chic, street style on the sidewalks, to the vintage treasures nestled in little boutiques, to the high fashion on display in the city’s most prestigious stores. I'm truly inspired by the endless creativity and style that flourishes on every street corner.

Pink Tutu Magic In the City

This weekend really showed me that even in the bustling heart of the world’s most energetic city, there's still a space for some magical tutu moments! Whether it’s a quick spin around Central Park, a stylish street performance, or an impromptu photoshoot in a trendy coffee shop, there’s always a place to unleash your inner ballerina! ✨

One of the things I really enjoyed was taking a few impromptu street classes. I found this fantastic street artist in Greenwich Village who’d just completed this amazing, enormous chalk drawing. It looked incredible, like something from an Alice in Wonderland book, so of course I had to take a few pirouettes there! You wouldn’t believe how much attention I got from other people passing by – there’s nothing quite like making strangers smile with a twirl! 😂

I also bumped into this wonderful street ballet group in Times Square – now you have to understand, there’s no other place in the world that can bring the energy of dance like New York can. This group was a real mix of young and old, and they were just absolutely brilliant. We were all wearing pink tutus of course! But it wasn’t just that! There was this incredible energy, and it really felt like the entire city was sharing that magic, from the audience right down to the street performers. It really made me think about how we can all make the world a bit more beautiful through movement and the shared love of dance. Isn’t that just wonderful? 💖

Back To Derbyshire... But The Magic Lives On

So I'm back in my beloved Derbyshire, feeling so inspired. I can’t wait to bring the stories and adventures from New York to my own little community. Maybe a flash mob? Or a spontaneous pink tutu ballet session at the Derbyshire Market? I haven’t quite figured it out yet but there’s definitely something in the air! ✨
