Pink Tutu Blog: New York City Adventures - Post #1209

Monday, 2018-08-06

Hello darlings!

The Big Apple is buzzing, and so am I! This week has been a whirlwind of tutus, twirls and theatrical delights in the most fabulous city in the world, New York City! My adventures started last week, so let's dive right into the details.

A City That Never Sleeps... Especially When You’re In A Tutu

Right, picture it: a gorgeous Friday evening in NYC, the city's lights sparkling like diamonds against the inky night sky, and a pink-tutu-clad ballerina navigating the streets. That's me, folks, me! My first evening in New York, and I was already making my mark, or should I say, leaving a trail of sparkly tulle behind me!

I decided to kick off my New York escapade by catching a performance at the Metropolitan Opera. The Met is one of those iconic places every ballet lover dreams of seeing, and it did not disappoint. The chandeliers glittered, the velvet seats whispered of bygone eras, and the whole experience felt straight out of a fairytale. Oh, and the ballet was incredible! You can see from my photos, the stage was set with breathtaking detail. My camera practically begged to capture it all!

And because New York City has a truly special energy, I felt inspired to dance. The Met's grandeur and the vibrant, alive atmosphere really did set the tone for the rest of my stay. So much energy! So much to experience! And it just started to sink in that, yes, I'm finally back in my favorite city in the world!

The Metro – A Fashion Runway

New York is truly a metropolis, and of course, no adventure is complete without exploring the city's underground veins: the subway! This might not be everyone's cup of tea, but for me, the metro system is an experience in itself! It's like a fast-paced fashion runway, except everyone's moving at the speed of a double espresso.

My top tip: wear comfortable shoes! This applies to the city as a whole. And speaking of shoes… I have found myself drawn to those cute New York street-style boots, you know, the chunky-heeled ones, just practical enough for the streets yet stylish for any occasion. Of course, I'll keep you updated on any new additions to my wardrobe as soon as I've made my purchase!

Where Art and Food Collide

This weekend I made a beeline to the Chelsea Market. Now, if you're a food lover, this place is pure heaven. Seriously, just wandering around, surrounded by all the amazing scents and colours of international delicacies… it’s pure sensory bliss. I bought some of the most decadent artisanal cheese I have ever seen. Yes, I indulged! And as the icing on the cake, I saw a fascinating pop-up art exhibit right in the heart of the market! I mean, the perfect combination, right? What's better than a good cheesy treat? A good cheesy treat alongside a spot of local art, obviously!

And let's not forget about Broadway. I've seen quite a few of my favourite musicals there over the years. This time, I enjoyed a production of “Cats” at the Neil Simon Theatre, with the original score, you know! Seeing such iconic productions come alive again is such a treat. I highly recommend making time for Broadway during your visit, even if it's for a second visit for those classic performances like “Cats”! You can tell, my passion is pretty strong.

It’s Never Too Late To Twirl in Pink

What started as an evening with an opera performance grew into a whole city exploration adventure. I am already looking forward to returning and catching some of the newest shows the city has to offer. Now I have found my favorite hidden spot for a delicious coffee and a pastry. Maybe I’ll have some inspiration there too, while I am twirling around the city! After all, when you are wearing a pink tutu in the big city, the world is your oyster and a beautiful canvas for inspiration. You just need to twirl around and embrace the beauty in it all!

And remember, dear readers: it’s never too late to wear a pink tutu. Don’t be afraid to embrace your inner ballerina, embrace your playful spirit, embrace your creativity. This life is all about living, laughing and making a statement. And trust me, there's no better statement than a pink tutu!

Until next time, my dear readers,

New York City – Fashion Diary

My fashion adventures continue, this time with an update from the stylish streets of New York! This city is simply buzzing with inspiration, especially in the realm of style. This trip I'm feeling a real penchant for bold accessories! I'm particularly smitten with statement earrings – think large hoops, dangly chandeliers, even some fabulously feathered designs! My earrings have definitely become my conversation starter.

And as a ballet lover, I love a good pair of sleek, pointed ballet flats – a quintessential New York staple! I think these simple beauties add a touch of elegant grace to any look. So chic and sophisticated, but perfect for navigating the city’s busy sidewalks. Of course, my collection of bright, bold scarves remains essential. These aren't just for keeping warm; they're accessories with character, letting my personality peek out from my ensembles! And it wouldn't be a trip to NYC without indulging in a little designer retail therapy.

More Pink Tutu Tips for Traveling in Style

But hey, even if you’re on a budget, dressing up and enjoying your style is super fun! This is the beauty of fashion: you can truly be stylish on any budget. Remember to think outside the box. You can incorporate an extra bit of pink with bright hues in your outfit or shoes. Don't be afraid to add your own touches, a simple little brooch can become your signature accessory. There's no limit when it comes to your personal expression! Here's a little extra to help you put together your travel outfits for your own New York adventures:

  1. Think comfort above all else: Whether you're hopping on the metro, exploring museums, or hitting Broadway, you're on your feet a lot. So choose footwear that's both fashionable and comfortable.
  2. Layer Up: You never know what kind of weather you might encounter in New York. One minute it can be hot, the next, a breeze blows through. Invest in light layers to keep warm and be stylish in the most unpredictable of circumstances.
  3. Accessorize to Express: You don't need to overdo it; one or two statement accessories can instantly transform your look. I’m all about statement jewellery and my new trusty bag!
  4. Embrace your personality: You're on vacation – don't be afraid to show off your personal style and shine! I can already tell, this pink tutu really has caught attention and encouraged my new followers in New York City to express themselves as well!
What I’m Reading & Watching:
  1. Book Recommendation: "The Ballerina" by Kiera Cass. It's a great page-turner about a girl from a tiny, sleepy town who moves to the bustling, demanding world of New York City and the world of ballet.
  2. Movie Night: “An American in Paris” is one of my all-time favorite classics – perfect for enjoying with a large bowl of popcorn in hand while sipping some freshly made lemonade!

    A Pink Tutu for Everyone

Now, if you know me, you know my mission is to get the whole world wearing a pink tutu. I know it may sound ambitious, but imagine a world where people walk down the street, embrace their playful side, laugh freely, and bring a splash of pink into everyday life. I'd like to think a pink tutu can be a symbol for this. So don’t be afraid to take the plunge, join the movement, and unleash your inner ballerina. Because sometimes, it just takes a touch of pink tulle and a lot of courage to set the world in motion.

Until next time, my dear readers!
