Pink Tutu Blog NYC: Post Number 1216 - Monday 2018-09-24 - She Danced in New York City!

Hello lovelies! Welcome back to Pink Tutu Blog NYC. This week I'm writing from a bustling corner cafƩ in Greenwich Village, where the air smells of freshly baked croissants and cappuccinos. It's Monday morning in the Big Apple, and I'm buzzing from the most incredible weekend. My trusty pink tutu and I took to the city streets, ready to explore and soak up every ounce of inspiration New York had to offer.

Now, I know what you're thinking: "Emma, is it really a good idea to be twirling around New York in a pink tutu?"

Well, my darlings, I'll have you know it's the BEST way to experience this vibrant metropolis. Imagine, floating through Central Park in a wispy tulle confection, the sunlight dappling through the leaves and creating a thousand shimmering diamonds on my skirt. Or, striking a pose in front of the majestic Empire State Building, a vision of ballerina pink against the city's concrete skyline. Believe me, every time I dance down a busy Manhattan street, people stop and stare, eyes widening in awe as I turn and twirl. I bring joy, darling! Pure joy, in a whirl of pink!

Ballet Fever!

But let's rewind a bit, shall we? This weekend was all about the ballet! And yes, you guessed it, I was in the front row of the Metropolitan Opera House. I spent weeks prepping my ensemble ā€“ a beautiful dusty rose taffeta gown with a cascading skirt, paired with a delicate silk flower that I made myself, tucked behind my ear. The outfit, inspired by the Victorian era and the ballerinas from the era, was a symphony in pink!

The performance was simply divine, the New York City Ballet effortlessly blending artistry and power on the stage. There was so much talent, so much grace, such an embodiment of passion in every step! My heart soared, my feet ached (in the most glorious way), and the feeling of exhilaration, that tingling excitement that only ballet can give you, was absolute.

And after the curtain fell, we weren't done yet! My dear friend Lily and I ventured into the bustling throngs of Times Square. I'd told her she simply must try a Pink Tutu Experience, and she was surprisingly excited! She's actually considering joining me for the Ballet Extravaganza in Derbyshire next month - who would have thought, a future Pink Tutuista in the making!

New York Eats - Oh My!

Naturally, we couldn't let our trip to New York pass without indulging in the city's delectable cuisine. I mean, how can you resist a trip to the iconic Katz's Delicatessen for the world-famous pastrami on rye? I can tell you right now, it's worth the queues! And no trip to New York is complete without a slice of authentic New York pizza. This weekend, we discovered a hidden gem in the West Village - this quaint little pizzeria serving up wood-fired, melt-in-your-mouth goodness.

Finding Inspiration in Every Corner

This weekend wasn't just about the theatre and food, though. It was also about finding inspiration in the everyday magic of this city. Every nook and cranny whispered stories of the past and the future, a city eternally transforming itself yet holding on to its charm and its character.

We strolled down Fifth Avenue, window shopping at the most extravagant boutiques. I couldn't resist picking up a whimsical silk scarf emblazoned with butterflies - a beautiful accessory to accentuate the charm of my beloved pink tutus.

But my favourite discovery was a tiny hidden bookshop nestled amongst the trendy cafĆ©s of the West Village. The scent of old paper and leather filled the air as we wandered through dusty shelves, filled with vintage hardbacks and rare finds. I found a worn copy of ā€œAnna Kareninaā€ and a vintage edition of "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland", both perfectly complementing my ā€œPink Tutu Readsā€ collection!

Taking the Metro

This being New York, our travels weren't just limited to the iconic yellow cabs and the vintage red double-decker buses. I found myself, and Lily, taking a deep dive into the soul of this city, the heartbeat of its pulse - the New York City subway. It was a ballet of its own, with an intricate choreography of hustle and bustle.

And oh, the stories I saw unfold in those subterranean carriages. There was the young couple, lost in each other's eyes, unaware of the world around them. And the businessman, deeply engrossed in his work, his fingers flying over his keyboard, lost in a world of deals and deadlines. There was the mother patiently holding her sleepy baby, rocking it gently while the subway rumbled past. Every passenger a character in their own life story, every journey a small chapter in the greater saga of New York.

Monday Magic in the Big Apple

So here I am, on a Monday morning, the aroma of freshly ground coffee lingering in the air, the city already coming to life with a vibrant energy. This feeling, this electric atmosphere, is what I crave, the kind of magic that keeps me returning to this pulsating heart of the world.

For you see, this is not just any city, darling. This is New York. This is the city that dreams in pink! And you know, thatā€™s why the tutu works so perfectly here. This is the place that makes you feel invincible, the place where you can dance your way into your dreams.

Thatā€™s my plan, to inspire you to embrace the dance in your life. I hope youā€™ve enjoyed a little snippet of my life here in the city that never sleeps! Remember to head to www.pink-tutu.com every Monday, where you can join me on this incredible journey of Pink Tutu discovery!

And remember: Itā€™s all about the Pink Tutu!

Until next Monday, my darlings, dance on!

Love,

Emma.
