Pink Tutu Blog NYC: Post 1232 - Monday 14th January 2019
Hello darlings! It's Monday morning in New York City and the sun is shining through the skyscrapers like a spotlight! What a fabulous way to start the week! This little pink tutu twirling ballerina is ready to hit the Big Apple and let you in on all the exciting happenings.
So, as you know, this past week I have been living my absolute best life - I am, after all, Emma of Pink Tutu Blog, and if I'm not in a tutu, I'm simply not myself! I've been dancing my way through New York City and I've got so much to tell you about it all.
Itโs All About The Dancing!
It's a funny thing about dancing, darling, the minute you slip into those pretty pink shoes and put on your favourite tutu, everything just feels so magical. You feel lighter, brighter and as if anything is possible! So of course, as you might imagine, this week was no exception!
First up, I caught the most breathtaking ballet performance. I won't tell you what it was, you'll just have to wait until I upload some pictures later in the week! It was held at the very beautiful New York City Center and oh my goodness, I simply can't put into words how spellbinding the entire experience was! Imagine the most dazzling costumes you've ever seen, graceful movements, dramatic scenes and powerful music that would make your heart soar!
The only thing more dazzling than the performance was the outfit I wore. My friends, you know I wouldn't go anywhere, particularly not to a ballet performance, without a touch of pink and a twirly tutu! My Pink Tutu Emporium is always stocked with delightful new pieces so this time I decided to go with my latest design - a blush pink, silk tutu with silver sequined embellishments, perfectly matched with a matching silk bolero and delicate, blush pink, silver tipped ballet shoes.
Speaking of delightful, I simply HAD to stop at The Pink Tutus Boutique - a gem I discovered on 5th Avenue during my walk home. They had the most adorable little tutus on display, for every occasion, darling, from fancy dress to casual days in the park! Of course, I couldn't resist picking up a new one to add to my collection! A sweet, soft, fluffy lilac number, just begging for a photoshoot.
Exploring New York in Pink, Naturally!
It's not all about the dancing and the fashion, darling. Yes, I have to admit I do love those things very much! But there's another vital element to the Pink Tutu Blog - the fabulous exploring! And let me tell you, this city has an energy that I find absolutely invigorating!
Of course, no trip to NYC is complete without a walk around Central Park. Imagine, rolling green lawns surrounded by towering trees, squirrels darting around, lovers kissing under weeping willows, musicians playing lovely tunes, all wrapped up in a magical atmosphere of urban life and nature! A perfect place to be transported for an afternoon.
Naturally, I was there on Monday and dressed in a very pink ensemble! A sweet, pale pink, satin tunic dress with a matching pink, wide-brimmed hat, with of course, the most beautiful pink, sparkly, fluffy tutu tucked in at the bottom for added twirl power. A good twirl at Central Park can set you up for the rest of the week, darling. It's true!
There were people from all over the world! From Paris to Tokyo, everyone seems to end up in this crazy beautiful place, with the iconic Empire State Building soaring into the sky like a giant pink marshmallow in the sunset! Yes, a giant pink marshmallow! Because what would a pink tutu wearing ballerina see but in shades of pink? It's all about the light, darling. Pink is life.
Dancing through the Streets
One thing I always find myself doing, whatever city I'm in, is a little street performance! If there's music, and maybe some sunshine, I can't resist the urge to get out my tutu, throw a smile on my face, and just start to dance. It's an incredible way to experience the place and people.
New York, as you might imagine, is full of wonderful music! You hear street musicians playing everything from classical tunes to jazz and even some reggae. You hear buskers rapping, drumming, and strumming. Music everywhere! This city thrives on music, art and beauty and I've certainly found myself inspired! I find I am the most free when I can dance with other people!
The most delightful thing about these little dance-offs is that people will always come to watch. A lovely lady told me the other day, she was enjoying my performance so much, that she just wanted to start twirling with me! So, we danced together and it really brightened both our days. It's so lovely to see people in New York stop to appreciate the beauty of a few moments of dance.
And oh, the tutus! People here absolutely love my bright, cheerful outfits! Many came up and thanked me for bringing a little pink and twirl into their lives. They told me, the world was such a gray place until they saw me! That my pink tutu gave them joy and happiness and they thanked me! I was quite humbled, darlings, so thankful for such lovely encounters!
All The Way to Broadway!
And on Saturday night, there was a bit of a magic in the air. I had the absolute pleasure of experiencing a Broadway show in the best seats in the house. You have to trust me, the energy here is electric. The atmosphere was so excited! People around me, dressed up, dressed down, it really didn't matter as long as they were enjoying themselves!
I was watching this fantastic play called "A Bronx Tale" and it really hit all the right notes for me! You should definitely make it a point to visit a Broadway show while you're in town, you can feel it in your very soul - that theatre is magic!
For a night of Broadway, a pink tutu, it must be said, was not really the outfit, and honestly I wanted to make a real effort for my night out, darling, so I chose an ensemble to truly express myself. A lovely scarlet velvet dress with a sequin top, very festive! But as you might have guessed, what would a Pink Tutu Blog be without a touch of pink?
I made sure I carried a little matching scarlet tote bag for my phone and lipstick, and yes, there was a touch of pink inside the bag too, it really did complement the whole outfit beautifully, a blush pink compact mirror. That way I didn't feel I was abandoning my pink completely, my roots! But I'm still experimenting with how to work pink into my everyday outfits, darling, it's always a work in progress!
Travel Plans and Pink Plans!
Oh my darling readers! There's so much I've seen this week. Every day feels like a fairytale here, I just keep twirling along, never wanting the week to end! I can already tell you about my exciting trip to the American Ballet Theatre for this Saturday, the next ballet performance I will see in New York! I plan on wearing one of my best bright pink dresses and my favourite shimmering tulle tutu for a little extra pizazz! The city deserves it.
I've always dreamt of having a pink-tutu-themed fashion show right here in Times Square, oh my, what a dream! That would just be everything, right? To be standing there, in the middle of New York, surrounded by my lovely supporters, with the biggest, most spectacular pink tutu you've ever seen, and have everyone watching. Oh my, wouldn't it be spectacular?
But enough about the future, darling. We'll get to that, in time, let's celebrate this lovely Monday. It's back to dancing in the sunshine for me. As you all know, I love travelling by Metro. In fact, I have a tutu collection dedicated to every subway line in NYC! Yes, every one! That's my little obsession, my little New York touch!
