Hello my gorgeous readers, and welcome back to Pink Tutu Blog NYC! This week, I'm bursting with excitement, because... I'M IN NEW YORK CITY! Yep, that's right! Your favourite tutu-wearing, pink-loving blogger has traded Derbyshire for the Big Apple and let me tell you, this city is tutu-ly fabulous!
It's Monday 2nd September, 2019, and I'm sitting in a delightful cafe, just across from the legendary Bryant Park, sipping a heavenly chai latte. (My god, they really do coffee better here!). The air is alive with the buzz of New York, a thrilling mix of honking taxis, street performers, and laughter. It's enough to make a girl giddy, and I'm just itching to explore!
But before we get to all the amazing things I've seen and done, I have to tell you about my travel outfit! You know me, always going all out, especially when I'm jetting across the pond. Today, I decided to rock my "City Ballerina" look. My favourite, brand new pink tulle tutu is just begging to twirl in all these glamorous New York settings! (Okay, so maybe I got a few "interesting" stares on the plane, but I wasn't letting that get me down!). It’s the ultimate twirling dress! This baby is tiered, super floaty, and has a delicate sequined design that catches the light. Over it, a blush pink cardigan, for a little added sophistication (I always pack a cardi, it’s just good manners). My trusty ballerina pumps, of course! And a tiny touch of glitter – because every ballerina needs a touch of sparkle, right?
Now, I couldn't arrive in the city that never sleeps without making a bee-line for my absolute favourite store… Saks Fifth Avenue! (Oh, the shoe section was pure bliss!). Let's just say I didn't leave empty-handed. (Seriously, could a girl ever walk out of Saks without something fabulous?) And as luck would have it, I stumbled upon the most gorgeous ballet flats I’ve ever seen. They were a buttery, soft, lilac hue. How could I resist?! My feet were happy, that’s for sure.
After shopping till I dropped (and honestly, I’m quite the pro!), I found myself back in Times Square, a scene that is even more incredible than it is on the movies! It's overwhelming in the best way. Neon lights blazing, music pumping, everyone bustling about - this is truly the heart of the city! The energy here is contagious, it’s no wonder this place is called the crossroads of the world. I'm not even sure my tutu was quite ready for this much energy!
Tonight's schedule is absolutely packed! A quick change of shoes for a bit of ballet street in Central Park (because every ballerina needs to keep her skills sharp!), a fancy dinner with a breathtaking view of the city skyline, and then…the big event of the week – a Broadway show! Wait till you hear about this show, you guys, it’s going to be amazing.
As I finish up my latte, the sunshine is starting to make its way over the skyscrapers, painting the city with warm, golden hues. I have to confess, this place is even more stunning than I ever imagined.
