Hello my darlings! It's Emma here, back from another dazzling weekend in the city that never sleeps! As you know, I'm currently touring the USA in my pink tutu, and this week's adventures took me to the magical metropolis of New York City. Itās the first time Iāve been to NYC, and let me tell you, Iām smitten.
This week, as always, my schedule was packed with a wonderful mix of ballet performances, Broadway shows, shopping adventures, and, of course, a touch of touristy delight! A Ballet Bonanza:
As always, my trip began with the magical world of ballet. The Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts played host to a magnificent performance of "Swan Lake". The story is timeless and classic, and the dancersā technical mastery left me spellbound. A moment of silence please... for the impeccable form, the fluidity of movement, and the raw emotion poured into each performance. Pure perfection.
Speaking of perfect, the New York City Ballet Company didn't disappoint! They presented a beautifully executed performance of āGiselleā. Every pirouette was impeccable, every leap a breath of pure delight. I am always in awe of the sheer power and artistry these dancers possess. Watching these brilliant talents in action is a true privilege.
Broadway Bling
After a weekend of ballet brilliance, it was time for some theatrical sparkle! This time, it was the captivating āMoulin Rouge! The Musical.ā This stunning Broadway show transported me right back to Paris' iconic red mill, with its electrifying energy, flamboyant costumes, and a truly unforgettable soundtrack. It was a pure sensory feast. From the vibrant set design and breathtaking costumes to the rousing choreography and infectious music, it's an experience that simply had me humming āLady Marmaladeā all the way back to my hotel.
A Shopping Spree with a Pink Twist:
A trip to New York wouldn't be complete without a spot of retail therapy, so I spent an afternoon exploring the iconic Bloomingdaleās on 59th Street. I absolutely love this store ā its scale and extravagance just blow you away. The shoe department is practically its own country! But what I really loved was the dazzling display of pink dresses, blouses and even pink-hued tutus, which I, of course, couldnāt resist! I am now the proud owner of a stunning vintage pink tutu which perfectly embodies my New York adventures, with delicate ruffles, a satin bow and shimmering sequins. Oh, darling, I do love a good pink tutu! The colour just brings a smile to everyoneās faces.
Riding the Rails in Style:
You know me ā Iām a massive fan of the subway! Itās such a convenient and efficient way to get around this city. This trip was no exception, with endless subway trips taking me across the city and back, each ride punctuated by a flurry of excitement and an abundance of character. In fact, I think I met the most fascinating person on the subway ā a fellow pink enthusiast! He had a bright pink fedora, and a pink tie, with a tiny, but very charming, pink moustache. I think he saw the pink tulle sticking out of my bag, we smiled at each other, and he said "Pink is my happy color!" There's a reason I call this my pink tutu journey, darlings! It truly is contagious, this pink power!
The City that Never Sleeps (and the Pink Tutu That Never Tires)
Oh, New York! The hustle and bustle, the iconic sights, the excitement of this city is simply magnetic! It has to be one of my favourite cities now, so full of vibrant life, endless energy, and so many opportunities to twirl! I canāt wait to return!
