Pink Tutu Blog NYC: Post #1281 - A Festive NYC Ballet Adventure!

Hello darling!

Welcome to another edition of Pink Tutu Blog NYC! This week, the excitement is bubbling over - it's a Christmas Eve Eve ballet adventure!

As the Derbyshire girl who dreams in pink tutus, the twinkling lights and magical energy of New York City this close to Christmas is pure enchantment. Imagine a dazzling wonderland of twinkling fairy lights, snow softly falling on frosted streets, and the comforting scent of cinnamon and pine in the air. Add to this the captivating beauty of classical ballet, and you have the perfect ingredients for a Pink Tutu fairy tale!

It's Monday morning, and I’ve already completed my morning barre class. Let me tell you, those little steps get the blood flowing and give you a wonderfully energized start to the day. Today’s wardrobe features a delightfully sparkly pink tutu with a silver thread design, and a snug, cranberry cashmere jumper – the perfect combo for this cold but magical NYC winter.

The weekend was simply extraordinary! I have been performing at the "Nutcracker" at the beautiful Lincoln Center – truly a stunning experience. After weeks of rehearsals, watching those final shows unfold with the full spectacle and grandeur, the orchestra, the elaborate costumes and beautiful stage set – was sheer perfection. And yes, I have worn a stunning sparkly, silver-trimmed, blush pink tutu every night – just perfect for this festive tale.

Every time I step on stage in this glorious venue, I feel a powerful sense of exhilaration. It's as though the sheer magic of New York, this city that pulsates with the rhythm of a thousand stories, weaves its magic through the delicate grace of the dance. The "Nutcracker" has a special place in my heart, with its story of joy and redemption, its charming characters and enchanting music. Each performance feels a little different, with the emotions pouring out from each dancer onto the stage. The applause from the audience echoes around the auditorium as a sweet symphony of gratitude for our passion and dedication.

On Friday, the New York energy felt truly electric! It's the perfect blend of hustle and bustle – shoppers, tourists, and locals alike navigating the crowded pavements and enjoying the city’s Christmas spirit. I treated myself to some new treasures – an elegant black velvet beret with a delicate gold ribbon that matched my latest pair of burgundy-red gloves with a sparkling, silver brooch, and a brand new scarf, woven with a swirling, multi-coloured winter floral pattern, that just cries out for my newest hot pink sparkly handbag. (And oh my, the sheer joy of a new handbag!)

We always have the most fun planning these festive outfits together in my little flat overlooking Central Park – the views, especially this time of year, are just magical. The Christmas tree looks magnificent, lit up against the skyline, as if from another world!

Tonight, we’re seeing a production of ‘A Christmas Carol' at the Met – the New York Metropolitan Opera. Yes, my love of dance extends to all performance art and classical music! This Christmas, I am treating myself to tickets to several of NYC's grandest theatre productions, the type of experiences you will only find in the heart of this incredible city. I will post about our escapades later in the week.

Oh, and did I mention the food? We’ve already enjoyed holiday-themed hot chocolate from an adorable, quaint cafe on Fifth Avenue with perfectly fluffy marshmallows on top, as well as mouth-watering cookies sprinkled with white sugar and tiny festive designs. New York has this magic in its Christmas food that I just can’t resist!

Tomorrow, my best friend in the entire world – my fellow Pink Tutu Princess and best ballerina bestie, Sophie, is coming into the city! We are making the most of the magical atmosphere, indulging in festive delights – we might even brave an outdoor ice skating rink – I wonder if I should take my new burgundy red gloves… And most importantly, of course, we're sharing stories and celebrating this special time of year.

It's always a joy to reconnect with friends and loved ones. The shared excitement for dance and fashion, and the infectious enthusiasm Sophie brings with her always brings me so much joy. We love a festive shopping spree – from exploring vintage boutiques to delving into designer stores! You never know what wonderful treasures you might uncover in the heart of Manhattan!

Saturday night we have tickets to the annual holiday ballet, The “Dance of the Snowflakes” by the New York City Ballet at Lincoln Center – an absolutely mesmerizing and spectacular performance that blends dance and holiday magic like nothing else. And yes, of course, we are dressing in our favourite festive pink tutus! It is tradition.

As we approach Christmas, I think about my lovely readers – all the passionate dance lovers and fellow tutu aficionados out there who are reading this right now. I truly hope this blog inspires you all, brings a little sunshine to your day, and maybe encourages you to wear your pink tutu and experience your own unique New York City adventure! It’s a city bursting with stories waiting to be told – just as magical as the worlds you can build on stage. And who knows? Maybe one day we'll see you here, twirling amongst the New York Christmas lights.

For now, I bid you adieu until next week. Remember – keep your dreams big, wear your pink tutu with pride, and embrace the joy that dance brings into your life!

Much love,

Emma
