#PinkTutuBlogNYC: Monday 2020-05-11 - New York, New York!

Post 1301

Hello darlings! This week has been an absolute whirlwind of a trip to New York City - I mean, how could it not be? It's New York, it's got more pizazz than a glitter factory in a snowstorm. And what’s a good blog post without a little fashion? Well, I thought a fab, bright, fuschia pink, extra-fluffy tutu was exactly what the doctor ordered - you know me, a bit of whimsy never hurt anyone, and trust me, a pink tutu is a conversation starter wherever you go, let me tell you!

I mean, where better to sport a tutu than in the Big Apple, right? Imagine me popping out of a yellow cab in all my fluffy pink glory!

I took the metro all around New York. It's a great way to get about and I am so happy that, being from the UK, it didn’t throw me off too much, in fact, I rather loved it, the hustle and bustle of it all. The sights of Manhattan whizzed past in a blur of light and colours. The whole experience felt almost cinematic and the metro riders were so cool and chill, very ‘New York’, I felt so at home!

Pink is always the answer!

The weather here in NYC was simply dreamy. As it's a rather late Spring here this year they are still having lovely warm weather - perfect tutu weather if you ask me! I just knew that New York had a real 'Pink Tutu energy', which makes it a great location for all those gorgeous photos I’ve taken which you’ll see in this post! I don’t like to wear a lot of jewellery when I am in a tutu as it feels ‘too much’, I’m keeping my accessories very minimalist and my jewellery to my statement ring with the iconic diamond in the middle! And I have to confess - my pink lipstick is always my absolute favourite - a girl can never have too many pink lipsticks. So naturally, I had it in my make-up bag.

You see, the great thing about fashion is you can just wear whatever makes you feel confident, happy, and free! And trust me, my gorgeous tutu did just that! Plus, I have this belief that when people see a gorgeous bright pink fluffy tutu dancing down the street it makes their day.

You’ve all heard me preach the “everyone wear a pink tutu” gospel - if I’m being totally honest, I think wearing pink tutus has really made me a much better person! A little bit of tulle magic can change your world… in my experience, anyway!

This trip has just shown me once again how absolutely gorgeous the world can be when we really embrace colour, joy, and just be who we are (with a big smile!)

The ballet!

The one reason why I even have the opportunity to do all these amazing adventures - dancing - it really does pay the bills and allows me to go to places like NYC to follow my dreams! I was so excited to get back into a ballet class in the heart of the Big Apple. And I wasn’t disappointed. I’m so grateful to this beautiful city for inspiring me and allowing me to have my dance in New York. It was amazing, an experience that truly gets under your skin and doesn’t leave you till you’re ready to get back again!

The amazing teachers at New York City Ballet were just outstanding. It’s easy to see why so many famous ballerinas come to this city to study and work. They were so welcoming and helpful to all their students (no matter what their level!).

I just know there will be so many new moves coming up in my upcoming routines for my gigs, from this class. You just wait till you see me perform, with my dazzling tutu, twirling around like a sugar plum fairy…it’ll be amazing, oh it’ll be magnificent!

Fashion! Fashion!

If you follow my ‘#PinkTutuBlogNYC’, you’ll know shopping is my hobby! I’m a girly girl through and through! I just have to pop into a few stores whenever I visit New York City. The fashion scene is quite different from the UK and they really have their own amazing styles and brands.

So I hit the streets for a spot of fashion therapy…and as a huge pink fanatic - what do I spot? Yep you guessed it! - A beautiful hot pink pair of high-heeled sandals in an amazing ‘retro style’ that perfectly suited my pink tutu ensemble, so naturally they had to come home with me - just check out my picture, the perfect outfit! I was in retail heaven for sure.

Oh - and I even found a small little boutique selling pink sequin headbands. Of course I bought one and it's now firmly glued to my head as a permanent part of my fabulous look when I dance. It just oozes New York cool, if you know what I mean.

Seeing the Sights… in my tutu!

Where does a girl in a pink tutu go on her first day in NYC, you might ask? Well, no less a place than Times Square. I have always wanted to be on Broadway so to walk in Times Square on this bright, beautiful Spring day just seemed to call out my name.

Then, naturally, it was to a performance, on my favourite day (Monday, obviously!), a show at The Met, an absolute joy. And did I say it was all amazing, spectacular!

There’s nothing quite like a show in the bright lights of New York City!

Travel Time

It's been an amazing time in NYC so far but, all too soon, it’s time to head back home to my favourite Derbyshire, England. So what have I been up to in NYC? My trip to the Big Apple has been all about ballet, fun, fashion, tutus and the magic of just living and loving life in a city that never sleeps!

A special shoutout to the wonderful, kind, generous New York City people for their generosity of spirit and warmth. I’m going to miss you all - but, New York, I’ll be back soon, you just wait and see! I promise!

For now, it's back to the UK and more performances and more amazing ballet classes, and the wonderful life I lead back home! I will let you know what I get up to. Remember to stay sparkly, and make every day as dazzling as a bright pink tutu

Until next Monday, Emma xxx
