Pink Tutu Blog NYC: Post #1321 - Dancing Through the City That Never Sleeps!
Monday, 28th September 2020
Hello my dearest Tutu-ettes! π©°
Welcome back to my weekly New York City adventures. It's Monday again, and as usual, I'm buzzing with excitement to share all the sparkly happenings from the past week. I must say, New York has been on fire β a whirlwind of fabulous fashion, thrilling theatre, and, of course, plenty of opportunities to twirl!
Now, let's get down to it! As you all know, I'm a creature of habit β Monday means pink tutu time and a metro ride to conquer the city. This week, my vibrant pink tutu, adorned with shimmering gold sequins, felt right at home amongst the shimmering lights of Times Square! It's funny how even in the most crowded city, a little bit of pink can bring a smile to faces. π I even spotted a little girl wearing a pink tutu at a street corner - I swear my heart almost burst with happiness!
Ballet Brilliance:
Speaking of ballet, this week was all about immersing myself in the magic of dance. On Wednesday, I made my way to the Metropolitan Opera House to see the legendary American Ballet Theatre. They were performing "Giselle", a classic romantic ballet that tells a tragic tale of love and betrayal. I've been a Giselle fan since I was a little girl, so you can imagine how thrilled I was to see this masterpiece come to life. The dancers were breathtaking β their movements were so fluid and graceful, it was like watching them float across the stage. I was completely swept away by the story, and I think I may have even shed a little tear at the end (don't tell anyone!). π€« The music was absolutely exquisite, and the sets and costumes were beyond stunning β I'm talking feathers, tulle, and sparkle galore! β¨
Shop till You Drop
Of course, no trip to New York is complete without a spot of retail therapy. I spent Thursday morning wandering through the fabulous shops of Fifth Avenue β from the glamorous designer boutiques to the independent stores filled with unique finds. It was like being transported to a wonderland of fashion. I particularly loved the vintage clothing stores on Bleecker Street. They were filled with treasures from every era β I even managed to find a fabulous vintage lace shawl that perfectly complements my pink tutu. π
Broadway Bonanza:
For the theatre-loving diva that I am, Friday night was a must-see on Broadway. I saw a dazzling performance of "Moulin Rouge" at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. Now, I don't need to tell you how spectacular the show was β all the costumes were fabulous, the singing and dancing were out of this world, and the story was heartwarming, to say the least.
A Bite of NYC:
The food in New York is truly incredible β it's a foodie's paradise. My favourite finds this week include a delicious croissant at a cute little bakery on 8th Avenue, a plate of juicy burgers at the legendary Shake Shack, and a scoop of perfectly smooth ice cream at a quaint gelato shop in the West Village. It's no wonder I always find a little bit of extra room for treats in my luggage when I'm in the Big Apple. π¨
From Derbyshire to the Big Apple:
Before I wrap up this week's adventures, I want to say a quick hello to all of you back in my beautiful home county of Derbyshire. I miss you all terribly, but seeing the incredible things happening in New York inspires me to keep pushing my own dreams, no matter how far I travel. I think you'll agree that New York City has been living up to all my expectations and more. It's a city of endless possibilities β you really can achieve anything you set your mind to here.
So Tutu-ettes, never be afraid to dream big! Follow your heart, wear your heart on your sleeve, or even on your tutu, and never let anyone tell you that you can't do something just because it seems impossible. Until next week, keep on twirling and making those dreams come true!
Pinkly yours, Emma π
