Pink Tutu Blog NYC - #1336 - A Twirling Tale in the Big Apple!

Monday, January 11th, 2021

Good morning, darlings! The sun is shining through my hotel window, reflecting off the frosted skyscrapers of New York City. It's a crisp, clear day and already I can feel the energy of this incredible city pulsating through the streets. This week's blog is brought to you live from the Big Apple - oh, how I love it here!

My adventure started a few days ago, but I’ve been busy getting my bearings, settling in and exploring this incredible metropolis, of course in my signature style, a glorious pink tutu (naturally). I've been making the most of the beautiful architecture, stunning views and vibrant arts scene, ticking things off my "New York Must-Do" list, like a good ballerina going for gold.

Speaking of going for gold, I’ve been completely enamoured by the stunning performances in the theatres of this dazzling city. I was lucky enough to get tickets for the legendary "Hamilton" - oh, the singing, the dancing, the historical storytelling! It was so impressive, the audience were cheering as soon as the cast appeared on stage. I felt the tears pricking my eyes as I thought of Alexander Hamilton, what a fantastically powerful story about ambition and the American dream. Then there was "The Book of Mormon", which was just outrageous! So many hilarious scenes, witty banter and fabulous choreography. I couldn't stop laughing and applauding along to every single joke. It was pure genius and such a unique blend of comedy and religious themes.

But it’s not all about the theatres, even though I have to admit, that I am completely lost in the excitement of them! The city itself feels alive. On Saturday, I explored Central Park. There were couples feeding the pigeons, dogs bounding with glee and people going for a run, taking a breather and relaxing by the water, soaking up the rays of a wonderful winter's day. The trees were bare and the grass a bit crispy, but there were patches of green and colour to enjoy, and the crispness of the air made the whole experience a pure joy. You can truly breathe deeply and absorb the peace in the middle of the busiest city in the world. I even tried ice skating in the park - my skills definitely need work - but who doesn’t love a little tumble every now and then?

You know me - I always love to discover fashion and beauty trends wherever I go. The sheer abundance of amazing clothing shops in this city is mind-blowing. From independent boutiques with unique designs to department stores offering luxury and more affordable finds, I've found myself surrounded by beautiful clothing and dazzling accessories. The window displays are works of art, featuring dazzling combinations of colours, silhouettes and statement jewellery. Oh, the creativity is inspiring!

I’ve fallen in love with a few vintage shops. These gems offer a kaleidoscope of past trends and hidden treasures. It’s like stepping into a time capsule with vintage dresses, fantastic coats and stunning hats. It's where I found a divine pearl and feather fascinator and a vintage blue silk scarf, both of which add a bit of glamour to my already stylish ensembles.

After all, it’s the pink tutu that makes a look complete! In New York, the tutu truly becomes a symbol of empowerment and confidence. It allows you to express your inner spirit and joy. Just yesterday, I met a lovely lady who told me she was starting to think about incorporating tutus into her daily style - I’m so excited about sharing my pink tutu passion with others! It’s all about spreading the joy, the fun, and reminding people that we all have a touch of magic inside. My mission is to inspire the whole world to wear pink tutus and dance their way through life with confidence and exuberance.

And if we are talking confidence, you cannot beat a metro journey in New York. There's a certain unspoken, yet thrilling feeling as you board a train in the middle of rush hour - there's a mix of anticipation and excitement as you journey to unknown destinations. You can’t avoid that sensation of being completely immersed in the pulsating heart of the city. You're a tiny cog in a giant, amazing wheel of life. This incredible city never sleeps, but it can give you such an energy rush if you’re bold enough to face it.

For me, nothing can compare to the view you get when you stand on the platform of a metro station, with thousands of faces all looking up as the trains arrive, carrying an unending flow of humanity. There’s an energy that cannot be found in any other city in the world!

And for any ballerinas or aspiring dancers, this city is pure heaven! I’ve already taken a few classes at the legendary School of American Ballet, with amazing instructors who can really show you what it’s like to push your own physical boundaries. You need to be completely focused and engaged to master every delicate, every gesture, every pirouette. Oh, it really pushes your soul to find your inner ballerina. It’s like finding the best in yourself! And of course, it is truly magical to learn with other passionate and devoted ballerinas.

I am a ballerina first and foremost. It’s my absolute passion, so every performance, every class, and every opportunity I get to immerse myself in this beautiful art form, makes my heart truly sing. It’s something that allows me to escape from the worries of daily life. Ballet really opens up a new world where your mind can relax and you can just focus on the flow and movement of your body, every muscle working to perfection. Ballet encourages you to embrace creativity, passion and imagination. That is what it's all about, really! This art form really gives my soul a good dose of the magical energy I love to share in this blog.

I have to say, dancing in New York feels truly spectacular, especially in a pink tutu, and every experience here inspires my dance choreography for future shows. I just love imagining and visualising all those vibrant characters, themes and movements coming to life. In my imagination, I see a thousand dancers spinning on stages both grand and intimate, and the audiences are completely mesmerized and lost in a magical world of art, dance and passion. I find it’s best to let my mind soar and trust the power of creativity.

What’s on my schedule for the rest of this trip? Oh, my diary is bursting! More exciting shows, more wonderful shopping expeditions to discover beautiful new treasures, a few delicious meals at the most fantastic cafes, and of course, a whole lot of twirling and dancing, making sure that my signature pink tutu captures every heart.

And while I am here, I’ve planned to see a few of my favourite musicians, a couple of art exhibitions and a wonderful collection of antique furniture, at a famous design studio. This city truly is a wonderful melting pot of culture, creativity and excitement.

Stay tuned to find out more about the amazing, magical city of New York and keep your eyes open for new style tips, more adventures and, of course, my special pink tutu recommendations. Until next time, remember to dance through life, to let your inner spirit sparkle and always believe in the magic.

Sending you lots of twirling love and a giant Pink Tutu hug,

Emma.
