Hello my dearest readers! It's Monday again, and that means it's time for a brand new post from your favourite pink tutu-wearing ballerina, right here from the Big Apple! 🍎 I'm so excited to be sharing my adventures with you from this magical city - it's been a whirlwind of colour, excitement, and of course, tutus! 😉
This week has been a particularly special one. I kicked things off with a fabulous ballet performance at the Metropolitan Opera House, where I was lucky enough to see Swan Lake (with a truly sensational performance by the lead ballerina). You know me - a bit of classical ballet is always a treat for the soul, especially when you're surrounded by such a stunning setting.
Shopping Spree on 5th Avenue!
Afterwards, I embarked on a whirlwind shopping spree down the iconic Fifth Avenue! Let me tell you, this place is a fashionista's dream! The shop windows were adorned with the most exquisite dresses, sparkling jewellery, and of course, enough shoes to make even Cinderella blush! My own sartorial choices involved a pair of adorable, pink ballet pumps - I simply can't resist a touch of pink, can I?
You know, I really love finding new places in New York, and today, I decided to take a detour down a charming side street. It was like stepping back in time with its cute boutiques and cosy cafes - I felt like I was in a fairytale. My finds included a lovely scarf in shades of pastel pink, which I immediately tied to my ballerina bun, of course! 🎀
Under The City Lights - Ballet Street Performances
This evening, I’m venturing to see a ballet street performance! Yes, you heard me right. A group of incredible dancers will be showcasing their skills at the heart of Times Square, the beating pulse of the city. I've heard rumours of gravity-defying flips, elegant pirouettes, and maybe even a few cheeky cartwheels - and all amidst the hustle and bustle of New York life. 🗽 How fun is that?!
You know, it’s always amazing to see how people appreciate ballet in the most unexpected places. In New York, it truly feels like dance can take root anywhere - from the stages of the Metropolitan Opera House to the vibrant streets of Times Square.
Travelling by Metro – The Subway's Charm
This week, I've been making the most of the New York Metro! I'm quite fond of this efficient system, as I find it much more scenic than travelling in London's Tube. You know, there's a charm to seeing all the interesting people, unique stores, and the glimpses of the city's fascinating architecture that you just don't get on the Tube! Besides, nothing beats getting some inspiration for my outfit in a packed subway car, filled with so much colour and vibrancy! It's always so much fun watching people and admiring their sense of style, and getting new outfit ideas!
Derbyshire, My Inspiration
One thing I've learnt about travelling is that no matter how far away you are, a piece of your home always travels with you. This week, my thoughts wandered to Derbyshire, my little corner of England. Growing up, I used to spend hours at the local theatre, watching beautiful ballets and musicals. Now, I see those memories reflected in the grand performances I experience here in New York!
Why The Pink Tutu?
Now, I’ll be honest, the pink tutu has become my signature - a visual expression of my love for ballet and for life, I guess! There's a reason for that. To me, pink signifies so much - hope, joy, a little touch of whimsy. A pink tutu reminds me that life is about being bold, and dancing through our worries. I always tell my readers, if you see a pink tutu coming down the street, it might just be me! I hope you never hesitate to say hello! 💖

Today's exciting plans involve visiting the iconic Radio City Music Hall, home to the Rockettes and the famous Christmas Spectacular. Can’t wait to feel the magic of this iconic New York landmark!
