Hello lovelies! It’s Emma here, bringing you another peek into my whirlwind adventures from the magical city of New York!

NYC, Oh NYC!

How I adore this place! It's vibrant, it's energetic, it's stylish... and it’s pink tutu approved (don’t worry, you’ll see the evidence later on). I just arrived a couple of days ago, but the energy has already swept me off my feet (in a decidedly graceful way, of course, it wouldn't do to trip in my pink tutu!).

A Dash of Derbyshireshire in the Big Apple

Being from Derbyshire, where the rolling hills and quaint villages contrast so sweetly with the bustle of city life, I always find myself drawn to New York’s dynamism. It’s like a vibrant dance partner, full of energy and surprises. But this time, I'm in New York on a mission. It’s not to conquer the fashion scene or grab the front page of the Times. Nope, my aim is much, much bigger (well, actually, smaller, in a way). I'm on a quest to make everyone wear a pink tutu. You know it’s a worthy goal, and this week I’m off to a cracking start!

Subway Samba

My first trip into the heart of the city started with a whirl on the subway. It's a fascinating spectacle - a constantly moving tapestry of humanity! But I wasn't just going for the people-watching; this was a carefully planned pink tutu fashion statement! I think a dazzlingly pink tutu, flowing with the motion of the train, can't help but catch the eye, don’t you think? A dash of colour and whimsy in the urban jungle! I couldn't resist whipping out my trusty phone and snapping a few pics – after all, I gotta share these glorious moments with all of you!

My New York Ballet Diary

You know I’m never far away from a ballet performance. This trip wouldn’t be complete without immersing myself in the world of dance, and boy oh boy, I was in for a treat. The New York City Ballet was performing “Jewels", which is a dazzling trio of ballets by Balanchine. Each movement was like a jewel itself, shimmering and captivating. It was just a beautiful performance and I left with my heart full of music and grace. The sheer elegance and talent was breathtaking. I’m dreaming about tutus again now – oh, those elegant, floaty pink ones that just make you feel like a princess…

A Day in the Theatre District

Now, I’m no stranger to the magic of theatre, but New York’s Broadway was a totally different experience! The atmosphere was electric, like stepping into a dazzling show all its own! My best friend, Emily, is in town with me, and we spent the afternoon exploring the Times Square Theatre district - the bright lights, the energy, and the theatre posters – it was pure Broadway magic.

We treated ourselves to a delightful bite to eat (Emily is the queen of knowing where to find the cutest cafés, you know, the ones with the quaint little tables and delicious scones… oh my, it was a perfect start to our Broadway journey!).

Fashion Inspiration in the Big Apple

What’s a trip to New York without a spot of serious shopping? It’s like a giant candy shop for a tutu-lover! So many exciting places to get your pink tutu-tastic wardrobe sorted! I think my new favourite is the charming little shop just off Broadway called “Bows & Bloomers”. It's full of vintage lace and ruffles, the perfect inspiration for those elegant ballerina looks. I just fell in love with a gorgeous silk pink scarf - so decadent, like something straight out of a vintage Parisian ballet - I just knew it would be a stunning addition to my New York outfit.

A Little Tip From a Tutu Queen

There’s so much to see and do in New York, I always find myself going back for more, which brings me to my tip for fellow tutu-lovers! It’s all about creating a "Pink Tutu" travel guide, which is, well, all about finding places that just whisper, "Tutu-friendly"! There are hidden gems tucked away everywhere in this incredible city, and if you know where to look, your pink tutu can be your key! Look out for quaint little shops and stylish cafes with colourful interiors that match your own style, because, let’s face it, you are as unique as the pink tutu itself, aren’t you?

Ending the Day with a "Tutu-Tastic" Performance

After a day jam-packed with fun and discovery, I couldn’t miss the chance to see the “La Bella Luna" street ballet performance. The vibrant music, the graceful movements – it all came together in a whirlwind of magic, right there in the heart of the city. It was such a lovely reminder of the incredible talent and spirit in New York. Of course, I went all out in my pinkest pink tutu (that I bought at "Bows & Bloomers", naturally) to blend in with the other talented performers – or at least, I thought I blended in.

To my surprise, this is where the real adventure began. The crowd loved my tutu! I’ve never had so many "how cute!", "where did you get that?!", and even "can I wear it next?" reactions in my life! This has given me serious food for thought about the impact of my #PinkTutuForAll project, but that’s a topic for another blog post. I can tell you that, for the first time in my life, a total stranger just walked up to me and complimented me for having the best tutu in New York City! Honestly, what a feeling! It's like I've brought a little bit of sunshine and a lot of twirling energy into their lives. And trust me, there’s no greater feeling than seeing a pink tutu spreading the joy.

A Heart Full of Glitter and Grace

It’s been such an amazing journey already, with more fabulous ballet shows and dazzling shopping on the horizon. If you have any recommendations for fabulous fashion shops or ballet events, do let me know!
