#PinkTutuBlogNYC Monday 2022-04-04: Dancing My Way Through the Big Apple!
Hello my dearest tutu-loving friends! It’s Emma, your favourite pink tutu-wearing blogger, bringing you another week of #PinkTutuBlogNYC adventures. This week’s post is a bit special, marking my 1400th blog post since I first embarked on this tutu-tastic journey! A huge thank you to each and every one of you for being part of this wonderful, swirling adventure.
The city that never sleeps was certainly not letting me rest this week, buzzing with activity, a whirlwind of fashion, dance and, of course, pink!
It’s no secret that New York is a dance lover's dream, with a plethora of stunning ballets to see. I recently watched a breathtaking performance at the New York City Ballet, mesmerised by the precision and beauty of the dancers. Seeing a ballet in the heart of the city feels magical; a combination of grace and grit that truly captures the essence of New York.
Of course, seeing a performance wasn't enough to satisfy my ballet craving. I joined a lovely group of fellow dancers at the American Ballet Theatre for a lively ballet class. There’s no feeling quite like that feeling of utter joy when you nail a grand jeté or soar through a beautiful pirouette, and the energy from other dancers is just so uplifting.
While New York might be famed for its street-style fashion, I must confess to feeling more than a little drawn to its vintage glamour. A recent trip to the MOMA ignited my vintage fashion desires. I adore the art of vintage shopping, uncovering hidden treasures in dusty boxes and breathing new life into pre-loved pieces. The beautiful dresses and accessories in the exhibit felt like an homage to an era of pure, unadulterated glamour. It really inspired me to embrace the whimsical nature of vintage style. I even spotted a beautiful vintage ballet dress which felt like it had leapt straight out of a classic ballet film!
However, my true love lies in the vibrancy of New York’s street style scene. It's so eclectic, from bohemian fashion to edgy street wear, all interwoven with a strong sense of individuality. This week's most-loved ensemble? A vibrant, scarlet jumpsuit that reminded me of the dazzling fire escape decorations on Broadway. The bold colour and dynamic silhouette had me feeling confident and fabulous – a total head-turner as I navigated the bustling streets!
Speaking of Broadway, my most recent stage experience was a mesmerising rendition of “A Chorus Line”, a show that continues to inspire and captivate me with its honest depiction of the dedication and perseverance it takes to reach your dreams in the world of dance. The performers truly gave it their all, and I felt utterly inspired watching them pour their heart and soul onto the stage.
The Metro Diaries
My love affair with the New York Metro continues. This week, the bustling tunnels were adorned with artistic posters showcasing the city's vibrant artistic landscape. Every ride feels like a new adventure, each station a doorway to a different neighbourhood and a fresh perspective on the city's character.
The metro journey allowed me to sit back and admire the constant ballet of movement surrounding me, each person adding to the vibrant, dynamic rhythm of the city. I can't help but feel connected to every soul that steps onto the platform with me, each a dancer in the grand ballet of life, all moving to their own unique beat.
Fashion Forward with a Twist of Pink
As you all know, I’m a strong advocate for bringing pink into all areas of life – from the clothes you wear, the furniture you surround yourself with, to your dreams and ambitions. This week, I've been embracing pink with a new, unexpected twist. My favourite pink purchase this week was a charming vintage pink poodle skirt, an ode to the vibrant and fun fashion of the 50s. The twirling skirt perfectly embodies the joyful spirit of the pink tutu.
I paired my new skirt with a simple pink silk top and a vibrant, oversized, pink-striped tote bag. It felt playful, daring, and delightfully unique. Walking through the streets of New York with my pink ensemble on, I couldn’t help but notice smiles radiating back at me, a little slice of pure joy in an otherwise busy cityscape.
It’s no secret that New York inspires me to dream bigger, to live brighter, and to bring my most vibrant self into the world. As I stand here, amidst the skyscrapers and the ever-pulsating rhythm of the city, I can’t help but feel truly blessed. Thank you to each and every one of you for making my #PinkTutuBlogNYC journey such a thrilling, heart-filling experience. Let’s keep the pink tutu love alive!
