Pink Tutu Blog: NYC - Post 1415

Monday 18th July 2022

Hello my gorgeous darlings! It’s Emma here, back from a whirlwind trip to the Big Apple and brimming with inspiration. This city never fails to captivate, and I have to share all the fabulous things I experienced on this trip!

This time, I journeyed across the Atlantic for the coveted New York City Dance Alliance's International Ballet Competition - you know I wouldn’t miss it! Imagine, hundreds of the most talented dancers from all over the globe converging in one room. The talent was so electrifying, I had goosebumps from the first note! My heart swelled with inspiration just watching these young dancers showcase their passion.

From Derbyshire to the Met

And let’s be honest, who can resist a bit of New York City shopping? The thrill of the hunt is addictive! This week, I discovered the most wonderful boutique nestled in Greenwich Village, called Frou Frou. Filled with exquisite pieces, I had to treat myself to a vintage feather boa that I just knew would complete my look for tonight's ballet show. It's so glamorous, don’t you think?

Now, it wouldn't be a Pink Tutu Blog post without a little ballet talk. Last night, I graced the illustrious stage of the Metropolitan Opera House to witness a breathtaking production of Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake. From the moment the curtain rose, the dancers moved with such fluidity and precision, capturing every nuance of this classic tale. I can't help but be mesmerized by the intricate steps and expressive storytelling. Oh, to have the grace and fluidity of a swan! I’m sure you'll agree it's an unforgettable experience!

A Tartan Ribbon of Hope

Oh, and did I tell you about the Tartan Ribbon Campaign? A group of brave artists is raising awareness of sarcoma – a rare form of cancer - and I just had to get involved. We painted a beautiful tartan ribbon on a storefront, hoping to bring light to this forgotten disease. As someone who loves to spread joy through dance, I felt compelled to help raise awareness of these crucial issues.

Of course, the journey wasn't without its delightful quirks. The New York subway, with its cacophony of beeps and announcements, always gets me laughing. Just the other day, I spotted a gentleman decked out in a flamboyant velvet jacket, sporting a bright purple feather boa, and carrying a shopping bag overflowing with… tutus! I can't even express my excitement. I wanted to run up to him and declare, “You're one of us!” but instead, I just gave him a huge grin, hoping he could sense my excitement. My mission, to get everyone wearing a pink tutu, might be a bit more achievable than I thought!

On to a Pinkly Delicious Diner

No visit to New York is complete without experiencing the delightful world of New York City diners! Let’s just say, my stomach is currently quite content! Imagine… stacks of fluffy pancakes, crispy hash browns, and bottomless cups of coffee. It’s the quintessential New York City experience. If I were to live here, I could see myself popping into a diner for breakfast every morning. My dream!

What’s next on the Itinerary

For tomorrow, I’ve already got an exciting plan – a delightful Broadway show! Oh, the drama! And, of course, I’ll be documenting every sparkly detail on this blog for you. If you have any ideas for must-see shows, please do let me know!

And finally, a gentle reminder that every single one of you is fabulous! Spread your love, your joy, and your unique sparkle onto the world! I’m going to leave you with some exciting news! My Pink Tutu Blog will be celebrating its two-year anniversary soon! I can't believe it’s already been two years since I started this wonderful journey of spreading positivity through my love of dance and fashion. Keep your eyes peeled for exciting announcements and exclusive content!

Until next Monday, dear readers! Remember to twirl and embrace every pink-filled moment!

Much Love, Emma
